He could smell the ash and blood, as Aidan ran, his heart beat quickly. He kept running through the forest, his sister right beside him. The day had finally come, of flames and destruction, the day he dreaded since he first heard of his ill fate in life.
He wanted more time, he felt powerless like this running alongside his sister. At least till they were stopped, by the king's soldier pointing their swords at them to attack. Luckily his sister was quick to act and ensnared the man, trapping them in the trees above. They rushed away, getting a good distance, almost reaching the port town just outside the woods where they live.
“Aidan hold onto this, we need to split up, these bastards want me and if they catch you...” she said calmly to her brother, handing him a book covered in cloth.
“We must part ways for now, we will meet again” she reaches out to touch his cheek, “get onto the first boat you see and travel far, the boat will take you to where you need to go!"
She placed a gentle kiss on his head, making Aidan tear up, his sister had been there for him his whole life. When his sister foretold his future when he was a baby. She, unlike their parents, was willing to face it with him, took him in and taught him all she knew.
Aidan wasn't the best witch, he could barely cast a spell. His magic was weak unlike his sister's, the only talent he had was his medicine, potions, and cooking. His sister didn't have any talent in cooking so he had to step up or he had to eat weird stuff.
