The entrance exams had concluded and those who made it had rejoiced, whereas those who failed had left in disappointment. A prestigious university that only accepted those who could pass their rigorous entrance exam. Among these people was 22 year old purple-haired woman, whose interests were ones which some might call odd or perhaps evenā€¦ evil things to be interested in. As the president of the university stepped up to the podium to address the students, lavender colored eyes drifted towards the man with boredom. All she wanted to do was get the entrance ceremony over with and get over to the library already. ā€œWelcome all new students. I would just like to start by saying congratulations to all of you. I look forward to being able to see you all progress as mages alike. Your schedules and dorm assignments will be handed to you as you proceed through the main hall.ā€ Pointing towards the large building to the left of him, he continued to speak. ā€œI would like to give one more welcome to all of you and this prestigious university. May all of you rise to your greatest.ā€ With a wave of his hand, a handful of mages cloaked in the robes that represented their statuses, launched spells straight upwards, alighting the sky in an array of brilliant fireworks- the crowd shuffling towards the main hall. A light purple haired woman made her way swiftly through the crowd, sticking to the edge so as to try and stay out of the way of others. @PunkPulse (Fauna) (edited)

The exam from earlier was a tough one for sure. The male could remember it well as he stood outside the gates, staring beyond into the schoolgrounds. Standing there in the courtyard while the mages were given such simple yet difficult tasks. Most of them being about control or power. His had been control. A simple task of moving an apple from one tray to the other on a table. The young man, known simply as Kaelan had never used magic before in his life. He was never taught how, and when given such a simple task as moving a damn apple to another tray.. well he felt so bottom-tier when he couldn't even do that. Now that he thought about it more, maybe it was because the Caretaker at the Orphanage had given him such late notice. There's no way he could have learned magic in such a short amount of time. That's what he had thought the entire time he was standing there in front of the school. From a distance, he could see the students gathered in the courtyard that had passed, the little entrance ceremony going on with the Headmaster up at the podium giving his speech. Watching the now students as they shot their magic up into the sky in celebration. That could have been me if I had practiced. Trained. Learned ahead of time.. the male thought to himself, looking at his hand. I could have been a student too. Then I would have a way to learn about this curse.. For Kaelan, he wasn't like other students. No, he wasn't like other people. 21 years ago, he was born under a full moon by an unknown woman. He can't even remember their faces. Because he was born under a full moon, this prompted a curse to be bestowed on him. A curse that made him non-human. It was easy to see if looking at the male. His canine-like features right down to the ears and tail. A Moon Child. Ever since Kaelan was little, he had been in the Foster Care system. For 18 years nobody chose the odd-looking cursed child. He wanted to learn why he was the way that he was. Wanted to break it. To be normal

like everyone else. That was his driving force. To learn about the Moon Child curse and break it. A curse that's never been broken before. I almost forgot why I came here. Dumbass. I just need to get into this school, then maybe I'll have a fighting chance too Kaelan lifted his gaze, seeing the students starting to disperse towards the designated hall that the Headmaster had instructed them to. Kaelan, only stood there, staring ahead at the Headmaster with pure determination in his eyes. "Headmaster!" he would call out at least several times until he finally caught the man's attention. He waited for the man to get closer before speaking again, "Please sir, I really need to get into this school" he begins to say. "I have the drive for it, sir. I want to learn here. I need to be here" Would he even accept such a student? I'm cursed. Everyone I've ever met has distanced themselves from me. Because my curse doesn't have that much information on it, because it's extremely rare. That they are afraid to approach me the way the Headmaster is doing now. Wait.. He's here at the gate?! "Sir. I want to learn here. I know that I don't have good magic control, or hardly any to begin with.. But I want to learn here. I want to get better. I want to-" "Slow down, young man. Your fire certainly burns bright today, doesn't it?" the Headmaster spoke. He was a short gentleman who looked to be in his late 50's with short white hair and a goatee. A well dressed navy blue suit. "You failed the exam, is that right? I remember seeing you out there trying your best" Kaelan stared at the man before him, a look of surprise that the Headmaster would remember a student among hundreds. "Yes sir" Kaelan admitted. "I'm far from being a student here, right?" "That is true. However.." However? What is he saying? "I believe that spark in you is a driving force. You've got just as much determination as anyone. Heck, you could make a fine mage even with such little power" he smiled.

"I could be a mage? Even though I scored the lowest in the exam?" Kaelan questions, staring at the Headmaster. What is he saying? There's no way I could go here with what my score was. "A zero it may have been, but the desire to keep going is what I liked the most about you. As well as this curse you have. The Moon Child's curse." "You know about it?" Kaelan gripped the bars of the gate, his ears perked up and his tail wagging slightly. "I do. Almost everyone does. An extremely rare curse given to only one child at a time every few hundred years. A peculiar one at that.." *Well, he knows about as much as I do on the subject. Yet he also seems intrigued. The Headmaster cleared his throat before speaking once again. "How about this: I will allow you to learn here at this academy under one simple rule" he held up his hand, showing just one finger. "One rule, sir?" "Yes. Since this curse has so little information, I would like you to report to me anything you find out about it. Your own personal project. How does that sound?" he smiled, lowering his hand and letting both rest behind his back. "I was planning on researching it anyway. But if all I have to do is tell you what I learned, then I can do that. Yes.. I will do it" his tail wags excitedly. "Good" the headmaster raised a hand, a wand now with it as the gates opened before them. "Enter, and welcome to Dreamwell Academy. You can find everything you need for your learning here in the hall. Don't make me regret giving you this second chance. "I won't sir! Thank you!" Kaelan dashed off towards the hall, grateful that he was given such an opportunity. @YourLocalMetalhead

Some of the other students casted odd glances at the purple haired woman as she stuck to the edge of the crowd. She huffed quietly to herself, carefully maneuvering past people. Though she had her own anxieties about passing the entrance exam, she had passed it by a decent amount. She certainly passed with a better score than some, though she certainly had room for improvements. Her knowledge and skills revolving around dark magic were very much limited, almost nonexistent. Dark magic was fascinating to her and she intended to make use of all of her free time in the library or practicing. Though her interests made her quite odd amidst the other students at the university, she prided herself on her efforts- though works in progress- to not care what others thought or said. As she had inched along the side of the crowd of students, she was paused in her tracks when she bumped face first into someone. It seems she had been quite distracted by her wondering mind. With a small ā€œumphā€ uttered from her, she ended up flat on her ass. Exhaling a small huff of air, she looked up to see who she had run into. Leave it to her to be a clumsy fool when her mind decided to wonder off- some students even laughing at her fall. @PunkPulse (Fauna)

Kaelan had dashed into the hall but had to slow down considerably when he saw how many people there were trying to maneuver around the space. The hall was somewhat spacious, similar to a high school gymnasium in size. Students were lined up in front of tables that looked to have files for each student depending on their last name. Each table also had uniforms, one for each season as well as textbooks, a choice between wands or spell gloves along with dorms and classroom listings. Of course, this was all for those that passed, Kaelan was one who didn't pass, so he was a bit worried that they wouldn't have anything for him, but it was best to check regardless. As he moved about the area, students promptly got out of his way, simply by seeing what he was. "Hey, isn't that guy a Moon Child?" one person would whisper to another. "Look at him, so ugly.." another would whisper. "He's the one that failed the entrance exam, right? Why's he here?" "I bet he's the Headmaster's son or something" The whispers continued, but even if they were whispers Kaelan could hear it all thanks to his surprisingly good hearing. Seems he was getting more attention than he thought. Many pairs of eyes on him now as he moved through the crowd. However, just as he was trying to figure out where he needed to go, the male felt something hit him. Or rather, someone bump into him. The exhaled "umph" caused the male's ear to twitch and he looked down to see a woman with lavender colored hair. Without thinking, Kaelan extended his paw out to the girl. He wasn't concerned if she rejected his offer of assistance. His concern was whether she was okay or not. "Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going. That's my bad. Hope you're not hurt. A crowd can get pretty dangerous.." he gave a faint smile to the woman. @YourLocalMetalhead

Out of the corner of hear ears, sheā€™d heard some whispers from other students. She couldnā€™t understand what they were saying but she could hear faint mumblings. She chalked it up to them either having a quiet conversation or gossiping about someone- assuming it was probably herself for now. She wasnā€™t quite aware of someone walking around with a curse on them despite the other students seeming to know about his presence. With a small groan while clearing her daze with a slight shake of her head, her gaze lifted to see the odd looking man standing with a hand- or a paw rather- extended to her. With a gentle smile she grasped his paw and stood with his help. ā€œNo no itā€™s not your fault. I wasnā€™t paying enough attention is all. Iā€™m not hurt either but thank you. Crowds certainly arenā€™t the most fun thing in the world.ā€ She shook her head gently before a gentle smile overtook her face again. Even if she had known what the other students knew, she wouldnā€™t have cared. Who was she to judge someone for their appearance or even for a curse, especially when she had secrets and mysteries of her own. ā€œThanks for helping me up by the way! My nameā€™s Magnolia.ā€ Her smile was gentle and quite genuine without a hint of mockery or falsity within it. @PunkPulse (Fauna) (edited)

Kaelan was rather glad that the female in front of him had accepted a helping hand. Along with the fact that she didn't seem to shy away or anything about his appearance. Or ask about it for that matter. Probably the first to do so since being here for all of five minutes. "No they are not" he smiled, looking down at the female. "You're a new student too, right? It's nice to meet you, Magnolia. The name's Kaelan Valentine! Gosh, saying that last name sounds so weird.. I never actually had a last name before until recently. Orphan. But no surprise, right?" he said, waving off that last bit as if it wasn't that big of an issue. "I was going to head over in line to get my stuff, but.. I don't know if I even have stuff to get.. I didn't exactly.. pass.. the exam" he admits. "Ah, why am I telling you this. You don't care about what I have to say. Anyway, sorry to waste your time. See you around, Magnolia!" The male took off ahead, going towards one of the tables that were in alphabetical order and stood in it to wait. Man, I talk too much he thought. Oh well. As time went on, the lines shortened and it was his turn. "Hi, Kaelan Valentine. The Headmaster allowed me permission to attend" he told the man sitting behind the table. "Right.. Valentine.. The Headmaster has informed me about you and your unique circumstance. Best not take this kindness for granted, boy. You're lucky to get accepted here when your exam score was a literal zero. Make a fool of the school and your exit will be swift. Understand?" the man narrowed his eyes at the dog-man who nodded his head quickly. "Yes sir." With that, Kaelan was given the needed materials he needed along with a slip for his classes and dorm. "Dorm.. Looks like the school is broken up into two teams.. Interesting. I guess this allows for friendly competition!" he said to himself, looking the paper over. "House Veritas and House Falsus.. I'm in.. Veritas! Well, at least there's a bit of hope for me after all! <@9019589807

Although she did find his appearance quite unique among the other students, who was she to judge someone solely on how they looked? She wouldnā€™t even think about questioning him about his appearance either. Sheā€™d encountered oddities before in her life, nor was her life a normal one but more on that later. She found herself laughing softly in amusement at how enthusiastic he seemed from his introduction. Though she was enthusiastic at times, she more so was on the quieter side. ā€œYouā€™ve got that correct there. I assume weā€™re both new students then? Considering weā€™re here after the entrance ceremony.ā€ There was a brief pause as she took a moment to take a deep breath. She wasnā€™t the biggest fan of speaking a lot all the time, nor was she always the best at speaking to strangers. ā€œThereā€™s nothing wrong with being an orphan, nor is there anything wrong with failing an exam and still ending up admitted. Thatā€™s certainly quite a fortunate thing that you were admitted despite the exam!ā€ Her fingers absently fidgeted in an attempt to calm her slight nerves as her chat with someone new was a bit nerve inducing. ā€œI do care what others have to sayā€¦ most of the time. You didnā€™t waste my time at all though, and it was nice to meet you too Kaelan.ā€ She smiled lightly, watching him leave before heading to wait in line for her things as well. Once she had retrieved her bundle of things and materials that she needed, she took a glance at the courses she would be taking, as well as what dorm she was in. House Falsus was the result- glad for such a result considering she would fit right in with that particular house. ā€œGoodnessā€¦ I hope I wonā€™t seem too out of place there considering myā€¦ unusual interests.ā€ With a soft hum, she settled herself off to the side of the hall- absentmindedly flipping through her materials out of curiosity. @PunkPulse (Fauna) (edited)

With the information given to him now, Kaelan was set on looking for other students who were also apart of House Veritas. Now that most if not almost all the students had their belongings in order, he searched around, trying to chat with any student he came across. But it was all the same. They either recoiled as his appearance, ignored him, or were flat out rude in general. It was like nobody around wanted anything to do with him. Which was a bit annoying, but he kept trying no matter what. "Hey! You're in Veritas, right? My name's Kaelan! I hope we have a good year!" he would say to a male standing off to the side with a couple of other students, probably from the same house. "Tch, why the hell would they let a mutt like you into Veritas? Is this some kind of sick joke? You're the opposite of Veritas." Kaelan stood there, his tail that had once been wagging started to slow down and eventually stop. "Being associated with you is sure to curse anyone around. Get lost!" Kaelan took a step back, but remained firm. "You don't know that. You don't know anything about my curse. Growing up, nobody else was affected by it. So I think I'm safe to be around!" he said back, trying to return to his cheerful self. "You'll probably go on some crazy beastly rampage and try to murder your own classmates. I mean, look at you! You're a monster at best!" he snickered. Kaelan's ears began to fall slowly behind his head. "I've never once hurt another person.." "Doesn't matter, we don't like you, so get lost" The male took another step back, clutching his materials before backing off and walking away. He could hear them chattering, along with various other students around him. Being isolated like this, was scary. Slowly, he went to go take a seat far away from all the other students. He found that he had sat nearby the student from before, but he kept his distance while he went over all the stuff he had as well as the classes he'd be attending. *I can't let this get me down. I'm her

e to learn about my curse, so I should take advantage of the fact that people here hate me. That means I won't have friends clinging to me for things.. I can freely do what I want!* Though, that mindset of his faltered a little as he looked at the students bunched up into their little groups. Well, maybe at least one friend would be nice.. @YourLocalMetalhead

She found herself deciding to sketch random things in one of the fresh notebooks- some random doodles of that beast she had encountered before coming to this prestigious university. With her head leaned in her hand while absentmindedly sketching, she hadnā€™t quite paid attention to some of the odd looks from other students, nor had she noticed that Kaelan had sat down bear her. Had she heard his encounter with the other students, she likely wouldā€™ve said some snarky comment towards them, rolled her eyes, and paid them no further of a mind. She would brush off the stares or mumbles about her but were she to see another getting bullied, she would not sit idly by while others were bullied or picked on. Seeing someone sit nearby out of the corner of her eyes, she closed the notebook and put the pencil to the side. Oh, it was him. ā€˜What was his name? Oh right! It was Kaelan!ā€™. She had finally remembered the name after a moment, looking up towards him with a soft smile. ā€œOh! Hello again. Itā€™s Kaelan right?ā€ She asked calmly, unafraid to speak to him or sit nearby him. ā€œDo you want to compare schedules and see if we have any classes together? I think itā€™d be pretty cool if we did considering thus far, youā€™re the only actually interesting and cool person Iā€™ve met here thus far.ā€ Her voice was cheerful and upbeat, showing that she was genuine. Trying to make at least one friend was a goal of hers for her first year at the university- well, that and finding out about curses and dark magic (especially dark magic and curses). It wouldnā€™t hurt to make at least one friend right? @PunkPulse (Fauna) (edited)
