Once Selwynās back was turned towards the prince, he found it easier to listen as his frustration seemingly bounced across the walls. He hadnāt meant to upset him further, in fact he thought his words would extract the exact opposite reaction, given him an out, given him a chance to process his own words. Oh had he been wrong.
He took a deep breath and turned around only to see that Eris was pointedly looking outside the window where the rolling mountains clad in snow lay. āI didnāt..ā Selwyn thought for a moment, choosing his words carefully to not further upset the man. āI assumed you decision was that of the spur of the moment. Something youād later regret. I donāt want that for you.ā He took a few shallow breaths once again before continuing, albeit in a quieter tone āYou are so loved. Look at how the servants respect you. Their respect doesnāt come because of your title, itās much deeper rooted.ā He wanted to speak about how he wouldāve left if he didnāt find the prince particularly endearing to be around but he thought better of it, instead focusing on others clear affection for him. At his pause in conversation, Selwyn took the chance to gradually pad closer to him, just a little, in the chance the prince were to turn his gaze back towards him, heād see that he wasnāt running away from their conversation.
Comfort. Wasnāt that what the guard had though? That his wish to kiss him was all that was. Nothing more, nothing less, just an act which by the time the sun touched the horizon, would be the equivalent of regret? But instead of drowning within his own thoughts he too spoke up. āThatās what I mean. You seek comfort because Iām the closest convenient source. I do not wish to make you uncomfortable or to..ā He trailed off, not knowing how to finish or what he was going to say. Instead he sighed and placed his hand gently atop Erisā shoulder as he gazed pointedly at the stone cold floor. āYouāre worthy of so much more. More than youād imagine.ā
