Three men gathered around a fire just outside of the main encampment, keeping watch. Summer had set in, but the mountains of Locuria maintained their icy breeze coming down from their highest peaks. Those from the kingdom were used to it, and down here in the foothills, it wasn't as bad. They still appreciated the fire as night settled in. The rest of the revolutionary army could rest, licking their wounds after the latest battle. Although the king had been injured and put out of commission months ago, his heir had proven more than ready to step up and take the reins. If anything, the Locurian army had proven stronger than ever, especially with all magical healers being conscripted into service at times of war. "Could be worse," Ulrich grunted, prodding at the waning fire with a stick. A spark caught it and he cursed, dropping it into the flames. "Worse," Ortwin scoffed. "You always say that, and it always comes true. You've gotta stop saying that. What about this could be worse?" Ulrich shrugged. "At least they haven't got the Wraith on their side like they did during the war against Drassan. We're still fighting against men, not monsters." Ralph looked over at him, wide-eyed and curious. The youngest of the three, and one of the youngest in the revolutionary army, he had the fighting spirit but lacked the fighting experience to put it to good use yet. "The Wraith? What's that?" he asked. Ulrich grinned and leaned forward. Before he had joined the fight against their tyrant of a king, he'd made his living as a storyteller, and often found himself eager to flex his skills once more. "A long time ago, there was a regiment of some of the finest soldiers in Locuria. Strong and proud, they joined in the fight against the Drassan Coalition when it threatened the kingdom's borders, ready to slay their enemies in the name of Ekdia, our goddess of fate." Though he had turned against the laws of the land, he still had a certain respect and belief in its faith.

"Now, there was one other creature that was sent to join them," he continued. "Its identity is lost to time, but during the war, one thing is clear: it took control of the men, and they were changed. Reports came back from the battlefield, intercepted from the enemy, of an army of monsters, fighting with a ferocity no human is capable of. And leading them was a tentacled beast, a thing hidden beneath a cloak with claws that could tear a man's still-beating heart from his chest without a second thought. It moved with untold speed, turned those it thought useful into unrecognizable creatures, and slaughtered all others in its path. That is the Wraith of Locuria." During Ulrich's story, Ralph turned increasingly pale. Ortwin laughed at him, about to mock the youth but, as Ralph opened his mouth and raised a shaking hand to point at something behind Ulrich, Ortwin's eyes widened in horror. "I-it's there," Ralph whispered. Ulrich was too slow to turn around as pale hands lifted him by the throat. Clawlike nails dug into the skin, but didn't quite break it. A voice hushed him softly, like someone trying to quiet a crying child. The other two men reached for their weapons only to find that they were gone, pulled away by shadowy tendrils that pulled them toward the figure behind Ulrich. A cloak concealed its shape and almost appeared to float along the ground rather than being dragged along it as the figure moved. Ortwin balled his hands into fists and dropped into a fighting stance. "Unhand him, beast!" "I will not harm him, dear." The voice was softer than expected, that of a woman speaking almost warmly to them. "I merely wish to speak with your commander." Without a word, Ralph ran back to the camp in a panic, ready to tell their leader and whoever else might be listening that a monster of legend had arrived to speak with him. While he ran, the Wraith set Ulrich down, but kept the men's weapons out of their reach. @Kain the Insane

Their leader, Xander, was a monster in his own right. The Kingdom had long suffered from a Caste system, suppressing the poor and common folk. However, the common folk had even become gorged on a sense of supremacy from those who had to steal or beg to survive. And worse yet, few had been born with the Spark. The capability of manifesting Superhuman abilities that classified one as an “Adventurer”. Venturing out to find treasures of eras passed. To fight and kill monsters who caused issues for towns that didn't have walls to protect them. Xander had been a rare case. His father and mother, both peasants, had apparently possessed the ability to pass on a spark. So, for the first time in generations, a Peasant had been born with the capability to become an adventurer. The Kingdom had hunted them down and killed them for their thieveries, although Xander had always had a feeling it was specifically BECAUSE of the fact that he'd been born with this ability. He had been given to some family friends who'd raised him from childhood until they could not. Their daughter had been his best friend and first love, however, Xander always knew she was going places. Men in all statuses had asked her to marry them, and despite her appearance, she was the best blacksmith in the world. Her father had taught her well, and she'd improved upon his teachings. She'd always been supportive of his decisions, and she'd tried to help him by making him a set of armor and a sword. He'd refused, only wanting to get what he could afford to not take advantage of her kindness. Last he'd heard from her, she was working with the Prince and King for the Military. He imagined she and the majority of the Peasant and common people weren't being told about the war happening. He'd been a Beacon to the peasants and commoners. A Peasant who brought himself up. He began to do things that left high class and Nobility stumbling. Other adventurers had attempted to stop him, and no matter how much stronger they were than him, he continued his adventuring. Until nearly a year ago. He thought perhaps the Nobility was finally willing to work with him. To give more opportunities for the less fortunate to rise up. Instead, he was brought to an opening in the earth. A place where they had rumored that the giants who once plagued the earth were banished too. He was gagged, and being outnumbered, they pushed him in. He'd plummeted for what felt like hours before he managed to use his sword to slow his speed, causing it to break. But he managed to use that so that the impact hadn't entirely killed him. He'd crawled for his life, living down in those caves for weeks. Eating the flesh of monsters before he witnessed a giant for the first time. A hulking creature that was similar to a dragon, but instead bore no wings and only two front legs. However, while he'd been crippled at the time, he'd been setting up traps. It had been how he'd gathered monsters to eat before. So, after using a bit of magic to cause loose stalactites to fall, it impaled the giant in several locations. Desperation and near Starvation could do horrible things to a man. He ate it ravenously. It had changed his body, causing his legs to heal. His body to begin strengthening. He'd found a new strength, a new power. But he changed after that. There wasn't much left of the optimist whom most believed to be dead. He found a way back up, and after having been gone for perhaps a month, he emerged from those caves a new man.
9:44 AM
There was no room for kindness in this war. He couldn't be gentle. They needed a revolution. He gathered followers, spreading word to commoners and peasants who had been unhappy as well. They gathered under the rebellion, and he began to make moves. Stealing shipments of metal and food to have armor and weapons forged. When Ralph came to him, Xander was in his tent, sharpening his weapons. Two swords formed from the Giant that he'd devoured. Both of them imbued with the ability to light ablaze as well as control fire and magma. Once Ralph had told him of the situation, Xander sheathed his swords and instructed Ralph to stay in camp as he approached where the Wraith had been spotted and supposedly had done something with one of the soldiers.

Ulrich dusted himself off and backed away from the monster who had picked him up. "You! What do you want with our leader?" he demanded, pointing at her in the absence of a weapon. "That is a matter best discussed with him, is it not?" Nainda replied, calm as ever. Over the years, she had grown accustomed to accusations, to fear, to hatred. She had shielded her son Alfred from it until he had grown and left home on his own. In that time, she had not aged a day. Her magic did not come from her birth, but from other, darker sources, and as such, was only tolerated in places like Locuria while it was useful to those already in power. Locuria especially was a problem; their Inquisition made sure of that. Seers were upheld as holy and worshipped, Adventurers were respected as long as they were born into the right class... all others were mere heretics, to be used and then exiled when they could no longer be controlled. "I have chosen to spare the both of you. Do not throw that chance away." Ortwin saw sense first, grabbing Ulrich to hold him back. Then, as Xander approached, the both of them backed up to salute him. "Sir, this beast insists on speaking with you." "Dehumanizing those you dislike makes you sound more like the royal family with each passing day," Nainda commented before turning toward him. "You must be Xander. A pleasure to meet you." She spoke respectfully, but not with the respect due to a commander or a future king. As an equal, which was already odd for a Locurian woman in a military setting, rankings aside. "As your men have already told you, I wished to speak with you, preferably alone. It is on the matter of a potential alliance." Long ago, she had shed too much blood in the name of Locuria to measure. It would be so satisfying to turn the tables against her former rulers. Besides, if the camp's guards were any indication, this revolution needed all of the help it could get. @Kain the Insane

“That’s no way to treat someone. You follow me and I’m just as scary and… Inhuman as she is. Now both of you, get out of here… Before I knock your heads together.” Xander threatened. He didn’t need to be explicit to let them know he was serious. Once they’d gone, he turned towards her and nodded. “Yes, Miss Wraith, I am Xander. It is a pleasure to meet you as well. Please forgive my men, they are simply jumpy. You have quite the stories woven around you. The same goes for me… Whatever they wish to call me. They believe I too am some sort of Phantom or Ghost. They hope that they’re right…” He answered her with an equal amount of respect. He’d learned from his friend that he should treat women as equals. Hell, there was a female group of adventurers who used to make his life hell. He knew what it was like to be beaten up by a woman, not that he needed to to be able to understand the truth. Tyranny of all kinds was to fall to him. And he was happy she didn’t give him any kingly reverence. Ultimately he was hoping to begin a republic if entirely possible for the Kingdom after he won this war. “Now, you speak of an alliance. Between the two of us, or do you work for a new kingdom now, Miss Wraith?” @Al the Killer

Nainda looked toward Xander, unsure whether or not to be offended by his claim of being just as scary and inhuman as her. She'd worked hard to be the scariest thing on the battlefield. She kept quiet though, allowing him to introduce herself once the other men were gone. He was polite enough, which was a promising start to their discussions. "It would be ill-advised for a revolutionary to lean on other kingdoms for aid," she said. "It would leave you beholden to them, and fuel the opposing side's propaganda, costing you any popular support you may be able to find." Not that things were going too well for them now. "Fortunately, I was planning to discuss an alliance between the two of us." Because it was rude to hold such discussions while concealing her face, she lowered her hood. Beneath the cloak, her skin was pale, though not unnaturally so. Pointed ears indicated her half-elven heritage, as did her delicate facial features, which served as an unexpected sight for anyone who had heard of her feats on the battlefield. Her eyes were pale as ice, and never appeared to focus much on any given details. Although her hair had once been brown, magic had changed that, and now both the hair on her head and her eyebrows were a vibrant green colour, with her hair pulled back into a loose bun. Dark makeup adorned her eyes and lips, and a silver stud could be seen just under her lower lip. Piercings were not common in Locuria, but were known to occur in various parts of the world, either as status symbols or as something more spiritual in nature. In her case, it was closer to the latter.
4:19 PM
"When the two of us are speaking to one another, you may call me Nainda. Let's save titles for larger gatherings, shall we?" If he knew any elven, the name would be somewhat literally translatable to 'nothing' or 'emptiness', though in common parlance the word was more commonly used to describe feelings of grief. The village seer where she had grown up had named her, as was the case with most people's given names. @Kain the Insane (edited)

“‘Nothing’ seems like a rather rude thing to name a baby. But then again, I do not know your heritage. You could've been born into your magical abilities and needed a name that related to it.” Xander said, before he nodded slightly. He'd learned many dialects, mostly to allow him to command the rag tag army more easily. It didn't help that their equipment wasn't quite up to snuff, but they'd been getting better as things went. They had the unique opportunity of being able to do smaller attacks and whittle away at defenses. It had been how they'd gotten several of their better victories. “And you do not need to explain asking other countries for help. I'd intended to say no if you were an agent of another country for that exact reason. No, they… Many of them are just as bad. But I KNOW my people better. And I can make more of a difference here. But you wish to ally with us now… So, I have an important question to ask then… What's your cost…? You're a Warlock… Or… I've heard of Imprisoners before. Either you've made a Pact or someone else made a Pact, or you have something sealed inside you. Not that you perhaps don't dabble into studying spells… The greatest mages don't rely on natural talent, studying, or deals alone. Just like the greatest warriors don't always charge head first into combat. All of this to say, an alliance like this probably doesn't come for free from you… So, what is it that you desire to form an alliance?” @Al the Killer

Nainda had certainly not been born with her magical abilities, nor had they been predicted by the Seer; her very use of them was in defiance of her fate. But she didn't need to say what that was, not right now, even though she was willing to elaborate if asked. "Many children are named based on what they are destined to become," she said, deciding that would suffice for now. He had a lot to say, it seemed, so she let him fill the space between them with his ideals and questions, listening patiently until he stopped to let her answer. "Warlock," she confirmed. "Still, that is quite the assumption, though I respect your precaution in asking the price before asking what help I intend to offer." After all, starting with how she could assist before the price could cloud his judgment on the matter. Someone was more likely to accept a higher price if they had already been promised something. She took a moment to organize her thoughts before replying. "My patron does not ask much. Our pact allows them to experience the world of the living. Their power, and by extension mine, is fueled by physical or emotional pain, whether it is experienced by me, caused by me, or simply... Ambient... So having me join your army on the battlefield will be enough for them." There was more to the pact than that, but it was a cost to her alone, and not worth mentioning to him. "As for me, personally?" The shadowy tendrils around her vanished, leaving the weapons she had taken from the guards to clatter to the ground. "I cannot quantify the ways this kingdom has wronged me. This is a part of my own need for revenge." Not the most noble cause, but an honest one. Again, if he asked for an explanation, she would provide.
1:45 AM
"I only ask for two things. First, the Inquisition needs to be destroyed. Not replaced by something equally oppressive wearing a fairer mask, but destroyed. There is no place for it in a just world. My second request... What form it takes will depend on the shape Locurian governance takes after all is said and done, but regardless, I will not be cast aside the moment I have served my intended purpose. I will have a position of comfort at least, if not power." Though she spoke comfort, there was a spark in her eyes, a boundless determination. This revenge was several years in the making. But her expression shifted to one of curiosity. "What is your plan for after the revolution, dear? You seem intelligent enough to have some sort of endgame prepared." @Kain the Insane

Xander Paused for a moment and he gave her a look before he nodded gently and shrugged his shoulders. “My plan? Well, it's to die. There is no place in the new country for a monster like me. After all of this is over, all the blood is on my hands, then my men will kill me.” His voice wasn't sad or pitiable. He spoke as if he were telling her that the weather was a bit chilly today. His optimism had died back then. Xander, the symbol of hope, had died back then. His corpse was fighting on, but that idealistic dreamer was gone. “You cannot quite be guaranteed a position of comfort exactly. The new way will have everyone stripped of their power. No more familial wealth or status to prop people onto pedestals. Everyone will have the opportunity to rise and gain importance through their hard work. And the country wouldn't be ruled by a King, but by a council of elected officials. Power to the people, for the people. And we will abolish acts to keep the spark from being hoarded to only specific families for the gaining of wealth and influence.” Xander said, looking at her. He wasn't accusing her of not working hard, but he was telling her that she wouldn't exactly be living like a queen after all of this was over. Everyone would have their wealth distributed to everyone else. Everyone is given a fair start in the new government, and opportunities to rise up in importance would be earned instead of handed out. Noble families would likely suffer at first, after the fat tit of their ancestor's positions would be removed from their fat, lazy mouths. However, the intention was not to kill the nobles. He was going to make everyone have that equal starting ground and go forward from there on. No more rigging the system towards themselves, no more laziness, and no more oppression of genders or classes of people. Even the Nobles and royals wouldn't be oppressed, although they would be watched to make sure that they didn't try to bring back the old ways to the country. @Al the Killer

Nainda was not one to anger easily, nor to show when she was. But the slight narrowing of her eyes sent the message that his words were a stray arrow she hadn't wanted to catch. Not when they were both monsters, and not when that line of thinking was exactly what had caused most problems in her life. "I would like to be clear on one thing," she said evenly. "I did not watch my husband slowly destroy himself, come home from a war to find that the Inquisition intended to destroy the men I served with due to them 'becoming too monstrous to live', endure my exile, and spend the last twenty years fighting to protect my son from monster hunters so that I could listen to a self-proclaimed revolutionary prattle off the same talking points as those who would see everything that offended their sensibilities be destroyed." As with his words, hers held no self-pity. Only a statement of where his line of thinking led. Right back to the oppression he said he wanted to dismantle. She relaxed slightly. "When I say comfort or power, I do not mean in excess. In an egalitarian society, being treated as a person would be plenty." Certainly more than she was used to. "But such change will not happen overnight. If you rush to die because you hate what you have become, you will not be able to ensure that your hopes for the future come true. It is an impractical waste of a life. If you feel you must be punished for what you have become, then let your life be your punishment." She stepped closer to him, not for intimidation - she likely threw away that advantage the moment she showed her face - but to get the point across that she was serious about this. "I have changed my second condition. I will not join a suicide mission; if you survive the revolution itself, then keep living long enough to see it through to the very end. And if, after that, you still intend to die, then do it yourself instead of staining the hands of your brothers in arms with your blood. That is my price, Xander."

“Your terms are agreeable then. But, I will abstain from joining the council itself. You are more than welcome to. But, I have become far too cold and callous to see a bright future beyond the flames I intend to bring. I do not wish to harm the world I create. And…” He looked at her and his eyes showed a sort of sympathy. Pressing his lips together, he nodded slightly. “I am sorry about your family. They will be avenged.” There was no need to make a glorious promise of making their killers burn in the flames of hell or something like that. No, Xander simply spoke of what he would make sure happened. This revolution would bring flame and destruction, and he knew it. Perhaps it was the shreds of the original him who was willing to do anything but hurt innocent folk. They’d yet to use their own people as meat shields or hostages, but despite the fact that he was willing to give it all himself and command his men to do the hard things, he wouldn’t hurt those people. It was perhaps the one weakness and strength that he still retained. “I have a tent set up near my own. It has been where we kept prisoners of war in the past. They’ve since been freed in return for the return of our Prisoners. You may sleep there, if you wish.” He offered her privacy and some place comfortable because he respected her. Plus, some of the younger, curious men lived on the camp outskirts. The older men with wives and children lived closer. That way some poor sap wouldn’t attempt to peek and find tentacles going down his throat and wringing him like a towel. Although, to be fair, if men tried to peek at him naked, he might not be able to restrain himself either. He’d probably swing them like a whip and see what happened. @Al the Killer

That was fair enough. He was not the only person to carry his ideals, after all. If he was, his ideal society would be doomed from the beginning. "That will depend on whether the people want me on the council or not," she pointed out. Changing the laws did not equate to changing the heart's of the people, after all. Even if everyone had a say, plenty of Locurian women had internalized their treatment and denial of political power. And being considered a monster, an aberration to the land's dominant religion, and half-blind, she would be at a permanent disadvantage in terms of public opinion. Majority rule carried its own little tyrannies, when compassion was not the norm. And in her experience, it certainly was not. When it came to that, at least, he seemed the greater optimist. "As it is, I am not entirely convinced that the idealist in you is truly dead. Comatose, perhaps." Then he looked at her, with sympathy she hadn't been seeking and didn't know what to do with. She looked away. "That is why I am here, after all. To avenge those who have been wronged. Including myself, yes, but not limited to me." She nodded at the offer of a private tent. Any sort of lodgings would suffice, truthfully, but the extra measure to provide accommodation did not go unnoticed. "I will be accepting that offer, then. At least until we need to use it for prisoners again," she said. "Thank you." And she could get out of the absurdly bulky cloak. Granted, the cloak was not the entire problem; she carried everything she needed to travel with in a pack stowed beneath the cloak. It helped keep her figure further concealed, which in turn made travel safer. The Wraith was feared, but it was Nainda Townsend whose legal records indicated exile on pain of death if she were to return to Locuria. And here she was, back in Locuria. She gestured back toward the camp. "Lead the way, then." After a moment's hesitation, she opted to put the hood back up before following him. @Kain the Insane

“Don't worry about showing your face. They may be scared at first, but they've already had plenty of time looking at me. They shouldn't fear… Nor should you have to hide yourself from them.” Xander said solemnly, before he nodded and brought her into camp. Some may have looked, but he held up a hand. He showed her to the tent, it was larger and more spacious than his own, and it even had several magical torches to heat the insides. As well as what appeared to be a cauldron of water that was kept warm by such a flame. Xander explained to his soldiers that she was an ally now, and she was to be treated with as much respect as he was. There was no room for gender divides in his forces, and while some of the younger men were rebellious, the older men had wives. And they all knew that women were fearsome as well as their commander did. Xander took a deep breath and he cleared his throat. “Everyone get some rest… I'll keep watching through the night. We shall discuss plans in the morning.” He said before he used his magic to rise up into the air. His changed appearance wasn't all that was different about him. He was incredibly powerful. He'd found himself unable to be hurt by standard weapons, and even when a Magical weapon was used, fatal wounds had only slowed him down. He'd achieved immortality. Assumably the Giant had Possessed a form of it, but by him eating its heart, he'd… Become one with it. Fragments of memories occasionally appeared in his mind. Not to mention a hatred for the Gods who simply watched this world like it was their fucking play to enjoy. Like their lives were for their entertainment. @Al the Killer

Nainda tilted her head, but kept the hood down. In truth, it was not a response of fear that she worried about. While her appearance was unusual, it was not particularly monstrous, either, unless one wished to use that label to describe any half-elf. But she'd lived for long enough to acknowledge the harsh reality that some men would pursue anything that looked youthful and vaguely feminine. "Implying my face is... frightening? You certainly do have a way with words, darling." She feigned offense, but her tone remained light. Almost teasing. Their conversation, while grim, had been relatively pleasant. At the very least, she could relax somewhat now and discuss her plan in the morning. Outside of the tent, she paused to listen to him speak to his soldiers. His display of power wasn't altogether surprising. She'd heard the stories, and strong magic gave off a signature that was impossible to ignore. It was only after the soldiers had dispersed that she spoke again. "I would like to speak with you prior to larger discussion tomorrow morning," she said. "I did not request an alliance without more than my magic to bring to the table. You will know where to find me." She turned away from him and stepped into the tent. It was larger than she had expected, but in hindsight, it shouldn't have been a surprise, given the fact that it had previously housed multiple inhabitants. A part of her recoiled at the apparent unfairness of her ending up with such large quarters compared to the others - in her previous combat experience, even the tent she'd had as a healer had been smaller, and it had doubled as the entire regiment's infirmary - but she reminded herself that if more women were to join their ranks, she may well end up sharing it with them. She was unlikely to have it to herself forever. She shrugged off her cloak and set it aside, followed by her pack. She'd traveled for a long time to return to Locuria. At last, she could rest. @Kain the Insane

Xander watched all night. He no longer would tire anymore either. There was no need for sleep, plus, even if he could, it would just be nightmares. However, would he even feel fear? Her words about him not being a charmer were said light heartedly, but he'd never been good with women. And now… He didn't feel anything. The cold logic of calculation and risk. His mind had been warped with those of predators far older than one could comprehend. His existence contained more than just his original self now, and now he couldn't tell where the original him began and ended. All he could think about was that he'd tried to do everything he wanted peacefully. However, they had CHOSEN violence. They'd promise him safety and to work alongside him, and they'd pushed him into a pit to plummet to his death. The only person he'd ever loved probably didn't even know he was alive at all. His eyes scanned the area around the encampment, his body submerged in the clouds above. The freezing water touches his body but melts before falling toward the encampment. Soon his men would be waking up, so he descended and landed on the ground carefully. He waved his hand, reignited the fires of the camp and forming sigils that protected the snow from falling onto those fires and putting them out. He entered into his own tent and paused for a moment before he pulled on his armor. Pitch black, made of sheets of steel woven together. Bronze horns, spikes, and Claws adorned the armor. Made from the original armor he'd bought from his previous love. Emerging from his tent, he approached Nainda's tent and he gently rang a small bell. “You wished to speak, so I am here to speak Miss Nainda. The men will be awakened soon for the meeting. You're welcome to speak, as well as suggest your own ideas.” He spoke, allowing her some time to fully wake up if she were not yet awake by the time he arrived. @Al the Killer

Sleep had not lasted long. It usually did not. Too often, her patron's voices echoed through her dreams, the worst memories of their previous hosts flashing through her mind as vividly as though she were experiencing them in the moment. Twenty-one years of the contract. Longer than her predecessors had survived - all others had been driven to suicide, or to madness only to be killed by someone else shortly after, in a far shorter time period. She'd woken early in the morning and gotten dressed, then used some of her supplies, tea and mint leaves, and a few wild berries to brew two cups of morning tea with clean water from the cauldron. Her timing was impeccable, as the bell rang just as the flavours had seeped in enough. She pushed the tent flaps aside and stepped out. "Good morning, dear," she greeted, smiling as though the few dreams she had hadn't been haunted. It was something she'd gotten used to, after all. In the morning light, she was less grim. Her appearance hadn't changed, aside from the lack of a cloak and presence of a dress that hugged her curves rather than hiding them, but her exhaustion had faded. What was clearer now than before was the light to her, the part of her spirit that burned brighter the more others tried to extinguish it. Or perhaps it was just spite being transformed into determination. Either way, she held one of the cups out to him. "Do you drink tea? I prepared an extra cup. Consider it a token of my appreciation."
1:37 PM
She sipped from her own cup and looked toward the rising sun. "Between the war and my exile, I worked as the royal midwife under the condition that I never use my magic again. Not long enough ago to have delivered the prince, but many of his younger siblings certainly. I saw to the health of the royal wives and their newborn children, but what the king didn't know was that I prioritized the health of his wives, even if it meant fewer potential heirs were born. Do you remember what was said about the king's first wife, Queen Consort Rochelle? The lie the king told." According to royal decree, the Queen Consort had been murdered by the royal midwife after giving birth. A convenient lie indeed. “Thank you for the tea... I havent had it often, but I enjoy it. Anyway, for your question... According to him, she had been murdered by the Royal Midwife. I remember… Watching them execute a woman saying she was innocent until the moment her blood splattered on the ground. Another way to suppress the Peasants and common folk. Instilling fear.” He spoke softly, raising his eyebrows. He wanted to hear where she was going. The Prince had many wives. Princesses of other Kingdoms and Nations… A couple of wives he'd simply found attractive, in or out of the kingdom A rumor had been he'd married the royal blacksmith or that he'd done SOMETHING to her. He'd even heard rumors several of his wives were illegally bought sex slaves. They'd been outlawed in Locuria before, but it had become more common knowledge this was because other Kingdoms or Slave Catchers would capture and sell those with the Spark. And that some Nobles would skirt the law using loopholes of HOW they paid for the women. Whatever the case, it was a despicable practice, and only a symptom of the greater issues here. @Al the Killer (edited)

Now that was... news, actually. Considering the fact that Nainda had been the royal midwife, the implication there was that the king had just executed some random woman so that somebody would be blamed. She'd only heard about the murder accusations, as they'd been used to justify her own exile, the one that had happened in private to keep her hidden from the public eye. Her eyes widened for a minute before she looked away. "Those bastards," she muttered. "Anyway, the truth is that Rochelle nearly died in childbirth. I had advised that the pregnancy was not viable, and she insisted on moving forward with it anyway. It was her choice, so I honoured it." With the other cup out of her hand, she wrapped both hands around hers. "My magic, in broad strokes, is fleshcrafting. It can be used to heal any wound or cure any ailment - not counting those which are genetic - but, as an inherently entropic form of magic, it is not meant to do that. To use it to heal the living is to create extensive, unpredictable, and often painful mutations of the flesh that do not occur in nature, as a side effect. But Rochelle wanted me to save her life, so I did. In retaliation, her husband proclaimed that she had died, accused me - or rather, some innocent woman - of killing her, and locked his first wife away in one of the palace towers. She is alive, albeit a prisoner, and wishes revenge as strongly as I do." She closed her eyes against a bright beam of life and turned her head away from the sunrise, temporarily blinded. She continued her story. "I have maintained contact with her via communication stone. She is not privy to much of what happens in the palace but, from what can be overheard in her tower and my prior experience, it is easy to piece together how the royal wives are treated. They will be easy to bring to our side and, from there, a valuable source of information." @Kain the Insane

Xander blinked for a moment before he nodded and rubbed his chin. Not that he believed women were weak willed, but he knew that with the suppression, things could be bad. “I'm honestly surprised… The Princesses of other Countries willing to betray him despite only being married purely for alliances… And the fact that they're probably attractive. That seems to be the creeps MO. I doubt you know this, but I came close to getting him with an attack, but…” Xander's face darkened as his fist clenched into a fist. He aimed it toward the door and opened it, letting out a burst of magic that blew the flap open for the moment. “One of his “personal guard” of women took the attack for him. Suppose he learned from his fat pig of a father, because shooting him through the neck wasn't that hard.” Xander spoke coolly, but it was the closest he'd come to an emotion. One of rage so powerful that immense magic he possessed had to be discharged harmlessly otherwise he might LITERALLY blow up. “Your magic is the changing of flesh. You… As much as it could be scary to people, at least you can heal. All I can do is destroy everything in my way…” He drank from his mug and leaned down, gathering a pebble from his shoe. Inbuilt it with power, he flung it out the flap and punched a hole in a tree. His magic had barely contacted it, and it had given the pebble the force of a Canon. The problem he had didn't seem to be that he COULDN'T win a fight, but that if he did, he might ruin the symbol of fear… And that he couldn't control the newly explosive amounts of power he wielded. He created a small flame on his finger tip and he spun it around in his tea, heating it up to something closer to scalding. Yet he drank from the mug with a certain satisfaction. “What did your magic do that made the King believe that she should be locked up…?” @Al the Killer

"Everyone has a limit to what they are willing to tolerate, dear," Nainda said. "Not all of them will believe they are ready. But pull the right strings, and they will come around." Games of manipulation were ugly, but got the job done. The Prince had done far worse. "As for those who do not, we need only to convince them to stay out of the way. Inaction is very easy to most people, after all." She observed him calmly, not at all surprised to hear about a Locurian noble allowing someone of lower status to die for their own benefit. Such was the way things were done here. His power seemed ready to lash out, but she remained totally unflinching as he redirected it into a relatively harmless direction. He was trying, but the human body was not meant to possess it at such a level. Just as the mind was not made to withstand a pact with a spiritual hivemind entity like Arrath. There was no judgment as she watched him, only silent observation. "Destruction has its purposes," she said. "You need only to learn to control it, until it becomes yours. At the moment, it is the other way around for you. With time and practice, any power can be mastered. I can see what I can do to help, if you so wish." Of course, the side effects of her healing were innately and entirely uncontrollable, but she had spent her exile practicing. When she meant to destroy, her control over it was complete.

"As for what my magic did... Well, it saved her life. It also gave her six arms, crystals growing from her abdomen, and a lovely necklace of extra eyes around her neck. They match the crystals; truly a thing of wonder. But of course, instead of saying 'why thank you for saving my favourite wife's life, she gives the most delightful hugs now', the king decided she had become an abomination who could no longer be seen by anyone." She sighed. "People like him are only capable of loving beauty, and even then only within narrow parameters. Hiding away what you don't want to see is never an expression of love." Without thinking, she held her free hand to the tip of one pointed ear, her eyes distant as though remembering something long past. @Kain the Insane

“A necklace if eyes, huh? Guess he was worried she'd realize when with the extra ones, she couldn't see his penis.” He said bluntly. From anyone else, it would probably be a joke. For Xander, it was an insult plain and simple. Closing his eyes, he took a breath and rubbed his eyes, clearing his throat. Honestly he wondered what they could offer. Safe pregnancy? Fully possible, he supposed. Although from what he'd heard, the prince had been proving… Unable… To provide his own heirs. Fitting such a spineless piece if shit should be impotent. And if he wasn't… Xander would make sure he was soon enough. “So, we may pressure the wives into being spies. As for your words… Yes, vanity is… Overrated. I don't really feel a desire for that sort of thing much anymore.” Xander pursed his lips and then he nodded slightly. “You might be surprised to learn the Prince is a little less of a piece of shit than his father was. Allied himself with the Elven Kingdom and married their Princess last I heard. Not that it makes it better, just… Irony at its finest, I suppose. Then again, his father is just a figurehead now. I doubt the wounds he suffered have left him able to be healed. They might keep him alive, but he is still never getting off of Death's door.” Xander spoke, putting his fingers together and placing them over his mouth. He was a fairly attractive man, although whatever had happened to him had lead to him gaining power that far surpassed what was possible. No one knew for sure, some simply said he'd made a Pact like her own but with a Dragon. in all likelihood, he couldn't have possessed the funds or treasures enough to bribe a dragon into a Pact like that. @Al the Killer

"I wouldn't say 'pressure'," Nainda said. "It is apt, but not the wording I would choose, personally." A marriage of alliance with the elves didn't necessarily make the Prince less horrible, either. The King had formed alliances through marriage as well, many of which had been advantageous to their allies. It didn't make him any better, so she would withhold any positive judgment for now. "The King will get off death's door, though - when he goes through it." A thought crossed her mind and she smiled, though it was joyless, one of those moments where she couldn't be certain where her own ideas ended and her patron's began. "...Unless I were to heal him. Any injury, like I said. There would be a certain poetic justice to it, don't you think?" His suffering, the horror he would feel when he saw his own reflection... it was exquisite to imagine. Her expression returned to one of neutrality so instantly that it was as though it had never changed, and she finished off her cup of tea. "Anyway, it does seem we have some time before the camp wakes up. Pardon my curiosity but if it's not too terribly personal, how did you obtain the power you have now? I have seen the Spark at work and, even combined with more than a human lifespan of studying magic, it never reaches that level." Of course, she was aware that the same question could be turned against her. After all, someone needed a reason to form a pact for power, especially for one that demanded suffering from its user. @Kain the Insane

Xander raised an eyebrow and he placed a finger in the corner of his mouth. Stretching it to the side a bit he showed her all his molars had taken on a more sharp appearance. His teeth you'd see while he walked were perfectly normal. “Well, I suppose an equivalent exchange would be a good idea for this. I'll tell you my story while you tell me yours. But let's just say that I ate something that one ought not normally eat. If you agree, I'll even tell you first to make sure I’m not trying to screw you out of a deal.” He offered, just trying to be as friendly as a predator could be. He didn't exactly feel like she was using him or anything. If there were an analogy, it would simply be that they were both hunters that were going after the same prey as one another. Since she really couldn't see finer details with any sort of acuity, to her he was just stretching the side of his mouth out for no reason. She opted not to question it out loud. "...Okay," she said politely instead, but it was clear that she hadn't seen a damn thing. Not that she would have minded the fangs if she had seen them. She was the last person to judge. "An equal exchange of information would be fair," she agreed. "And in the interest of fairness, let's just say I was very determined to defy fate, so I did." A small implication of her reason in exchange for his. "And you have my word that I will not try to screw you, either." Out of the deal, she meant. She recognized the ambiguous wording after the fact, but opted not to do anything about it. He'd know what she meant. "Now, as promised, full stories. You first." “I was brought out to a cavern. A hole in the earth. Locurnia had seemingly wanted to start ‘playing ball’ with me. But as I was getting ready to venture inside… They pushed me down. I fell for hours, and I managed to save myself by destroying my original sword, slowing my fall. Broke both my legs so badly I couldn't walk anymore. So, I crawled. It was a deep cave system, so low that it felt like I weighed more than I usually did. I found a place where I could hide, and I began to craft traps and tools. I found this wellspring… It let me drink. So, I began to catch monstrous creatures. Large three tailed wolves, monsters who could move through the air as if it were common ground. I devoured them. Ate them one by one. I crawled the caverns looking for ways out before returning to my hideaway for my own safety. Ultimately, I found a large cavern where I noticed Stalactites from the ceiling.” He took a deep breath and folded his hands thinking of how to describe the next part. It wasn't exactly easy, because what he saw was something so ancient that it's description almost couldn't leave his lips. “I found a Giant there. One of the eldest beings, cast down to be rendered unable to hurt anyone. Using myself as bait and my magic, I made the spikes fall. Impaling it onto the ground. It seemed like it had lost thought. While it couldn't die, it wasn't able to move. So, I took my opportunity. I began to eat… Ravenously. The more I consumed, the hungrier I was. My body transformed as I did. Until I devoured its still beating heart. My body had already begun some changes, but this was massive. I became… More. By consuming the center of its existence, I… Became it. In a way. Xander isn't all I am. I also have memories from those… Things. From the Giant and from the Monster. Sometimes I can't tell what is mine and what is theirs. All I know is that I became this… Thing that I am.” @Al the Killer

Nainda listened to the story, from the betrayal to the devouring of an important giant. She hadn't even realized that cavern was real. There had been legends of it, sure, but plenty of legends were false. And the effects... All too familiar, in some ways. "When you... Merge... With another mind or spirit, it becomes difficult to separate yourself from it," she agreed, to show that she understood without saying the words that often felt empty. "I'm sorry that happened to you. You never should have been put in that position." She looked down, realizing it was her turn. "When I was young, I attended the local Church of Ekdia as often as I could get away from working on the farm," she said. "Part of it was because, despite being in a small village, they had a fantastic pipe organ, and a musician willing to teach me to play it. But I was also rather devout, and had dreams of becoming high priestess one day. So, when the time came, I made the trip all children with ambitions of joining the clergy made to the nearest Oracle. Most are told that they are unworthy. I was told that not only was I unworthy, but my fate was to die after my third miscarriage, after a life that amounted to nothing. Years later, the time came." She paused, as it was her turn to search for the words. "There is... Sometimes, despair is far too weak of a word. There are feelings, all-consuming depths of hopelessness that no words can do justice to. It almost pulled me under. The memory is what saved me, funny enough. Being told that I would die. It was that knowledge that I raged against, a reality I refused to accept. Prayers had never helped me, but at my darkest moment, I heard their voices. Arrath, a hivemind of spirits trapped within the void between life and death. They called to me and promised the ability to undo any wound or illness, and to destroy what threatened to destroy me... And Arrath promised to bring my son back. I couldn't refuse." (edited)

Her fingers tapped against the side of her mug. "There was a cost. Their demands were small at first, small acts of self-mutilation that I could heal from easily enough, or some that I am not meant to fully heal from - hence the piercings. But I also know what will happen to me specifically if I die now, and because of my pact it is worse than what any religion has imagined. Losing your individual self to become a part of the entity that spent your life tormenting you is a special kind of hell, I would imagine. I see the worst memories of those who came before me, and any moments of joy I allow myself are sure to be quickly overshadowed." Yet she persisted, because Arrath was on the list of things she sought to spite. @Kain the Insane

Listening carefully, Xander nodded and remained quiet. There wasn’t need to compare sad backstories and have a dick measuring contest. Although he did have some thoughts he’d have to study later. Once she ended her explanation, he let out a bit of a snort. “Yeah, no kidding. Someone who spent their life trying to help people doesn’t deserve to be thrown down a Pit and become a monster this world hasn’t seen in Millenia. Honestly, I told you before that I was going to die after the revolution is over, and I’ll admit that the true fear… Is that I can’t. I no longer need to sleep, and any wound I suffer seems to regenerate. But honestly, the Giant’s memories are somewhat primal… The one thing I feel… Is a boiling hatred for the Gods. Those fucking fat fucks watching from their luxury seats in the heavens. Treating our lives like it’s a goddamn play. Gahroicktonbargh…” His voice came out in a harsh tone near the end, and it was in the dialect of the Ancients. If her patron were to translate, it would translate to a rather nasty implication of the sucking of a phallic object covered in nasty things. Although the likelihood Xander knew what he was saying was low too. His tone to her wasn’t nasty, it was simply rage oozing from him. He’d become something unobtainable. A being beyond reason in a way. Locurnia’s saving grace was that he couldn’t fully control the massive power he wielded and that he wasn’t quite callous enough to walk THROUGH the kingdom, destroying everything that got in his way without a second thought. Although perhaps the fear if he did was if he were to run out of magic, would he die? It was a cycle that fed itself, preventing him from seeing the full idea of the situation. That he was simultaneously afraid of death and yet afraid of a life that would last forever. @Al the Killer

It was nice to be able to talk about it and not receive the usual empty platitudes in response. And his hatred was understandable; she'd felt the same, so many times. Even if she hadn't wanted a family - which she very much had - the choice to decide to or not had been taken from her, and that was unforgivable. Arrath translated the last word for her and, well... The Ancients certainly had some vivid expletives. "Gahroicktonbargh indeed," she agreed calmly, then glanced over at him. "I do hope you know what we're saying right now, though." She looked toward the rest of the camp. There was more movement audible from the tents, at least to her highly sensitive hearing, indicating that the rest of the camp was waking up. "Hm, it seems the others will be joining us soon. If you're finished with your tea, I can take the cup." She smiled again. "Despite the fact that our conversations do always seem to take a dark turn, I'm still glad we had this talk," she admitted. "I wouldn't mind doing this again sometime." She had kept her previous regiment at arm's length, knowing that they could all be slaughtered at any moment. She would likely do the same now, but she didn't have to worry about that happening to Xander. He had her sympathies in the sense that an eternity with no way out sounded like a nightmare, but at least she wouldn't have to constantly be on guard for any potential threat against him. Xander stepped out and he began a beat on a war drum. It was a deep breath thumping, and he usually used it to signal the gathering as well as serve as a bit of hyping up. Once the fellow drums began to thump, he went and retrieved rations. Bread, Salted Pork, and some weak ale. He began to set it up, letting the men and Nainda grab any that they needed. He began to softly hum and speak to himself. “Oh well, whatever, nevermind…” He mumbled. These drums drew out the old memories of his. Spending time with his adoptive father. Watching him smith, giving him life lessons. Teaching him of what it meant to be a man. Honestly, he looked back and he wondered to himself if his father wouldn't be proud of what he was now. Not the revolution, but the deadness of his heart. He grabbed some salted pork, placing it on the bread and eating them together. He'd been unable to get drunk since his new status as well, likely because those ancient beings were more immune to poison. Which Alcohol was. Drunkenness was Alcohol Poisoning. When everyone had appeared and gathered, he sighed and placed his hand over his heart before he began to speak out, his voice carrying, perhaps with a little help from magic. “We've survived another day, out last battles haven't gone the best. But we are not giving in. We have a new ally in this war and new ideas for the gathering of intelligence. Gather raiding equipment, Squad A, you will be focusing on raiding any caravans of supplies. Nainda set the cups aside for cleaning later, then joined the others outside. Noticing Xander setting out rations, she instinctively walked over to help him. As one who had worked in healing professions before, she was used to the ethos of making sure the others were fed before her. But she paused as he spoke to himself, giving him a curious look before continuing her work. Once everything was out, she took her share of the rations. She normally preferred a nice red wine over ale, but the latter was better when staving off dehydration was the goal, and on the battlefield she wasn't about to be too picky about taste anyway. She listened as she ate, uncertain of where exactly she fit into these battle plans. They had agreed that she would be on the battlefield, for her patron's sake, but she had not exactly been assigned a to squadron. The mention of a new ally did draw some attention to her, the new ally, which was understandable. "I wouldn't mind forming an alliance with her, if you know what I mean," one of the single men whispered to the guy next to him, which was less understandable. To the other man's credit, he rolled his eyes while the man on the speaker's other side told him to stop talking, be respectful, and focus on the strategy meeting. She ignored the banter, quite used to it and finding higher priorities in the plans forming. @Kain the Insane

“Our new ally will join Squadron B. I trust you will give her all due respect, she is an equal member to all of us. And I know all of you have wives.” His voice was cool, but perhaps there was a little humor there after all. Squadron B was the older members, older than Xander was. They were the Seasoned Warriors whom Nainda wouldn't have to worry about being inexperienced. And despite being old, judging from their married status, they knew a woman could destroy them. “You all will be focusing on applying pressure. We've backed one of their squadrons into a entirely defensive position. They believe they're secure because they have a skilled wizard forming a barrier. If our new Ally can break through, I doubt they'd even realize The danger… Or, if she cannot, then you all can attack from above. Intelligence says his barriers are as powerful as they are because he leaves the top open to apply more power to the walls themselves.” Xander said with a nod. He then turned to the youngest group, nodding and taking a deep breath. Squad C, the most inexperienced. “You all… Will be going to the caves. No going deep enough to encounter Ogres. You WILL be working to improve your teamwork. Bring back monster parts and… The Head of a Basilisk. Be careful, directly looking into its eyes can turn you to stone.” Xander warned, giving them a decent bit of information. However he was sending them to get training through grueling experience, while still being kind enough to tell them where their limits were. Nainda smiled a bit to herself at the almost-joke. It was a fine assignment, too. Less watching her back to make sure some newbie didn't get himself killed, more fighting alongside soldiers of similar experience. Nothing was worse than a battle that felt like babysitting. Her magic was based in the body, and did not include counterspells that could negate magical barriers. At the same time, attacking from above was risky. Any sort of drop to the ground carried additional danger, and the split second of landing would leave any men whose legs weren't broken vulnerable to attack. But there was already a viable plan forming in her head. The risk to herself would be great, but she knew from experience that she could handle it. The other orders were fair as well, suitable to those being assigned them. Astonishing, how this man truly thought his heart was completely dead. Once the squadrons were dismissed, she would return briefly to her tent to put her cloak back on while the others gathered their own gear. @Kain the Insane

In which case, you do what you must. Take pistons and rope to help descend from above, unless our Ally has a plan herself.” Xander nodded before he slammed his gauntlet into his chest. The men followed suit before they began to retrieve weapons. Nainda’s Squad was ready to meet with her while A and C were setting out for their missions. Xander made sure he had his armor ready and he covered his face. His explosion magic would be sufficient, but he had the advantage of having the high ground. He could throw boulders, shoot blasts of force, and more if need be. All where he wouldn't have to worry about blowing up his own troops. However, he knew better than anyone that ideals weren't all it took. While not killing women and children unless necessary was a rule, he'd had several moments where he had to come to terms. If saving everyone required him to pitch a baby off a roof to its death, or the sacrifice of a child, he'd do it. Nainda didn't take long before she walked out to meet the rest of Squadron B. The only weapon she carried was a curved dagger at either side, and both were hidden beneath her cloak. Once more, she kept her hood up, because she was just scarier with it on and they needed the enemy terrified. "I will descend alone," she said. "No ropes within sight of the enemy." She could heal from the fall quickly if she transformed. "I'll take out their wizard right away, and their attention will be centralized on a single target. That's when you'll attack from all sides. Don't need predictable. I'll be able to escape their centre in the confusion, and they'll be left vulnerable. Do we have archers?" She looked to see confirmation, and nodded. "Good. I would appreciate the coverage. And if you would place the same trust in me as Xander does." Honestly, she still wasn't sure what title he'd been using for himself, since she was on a first name basis with him anyway. On its face, the plan seemed insane, closer to self-sacrifice than anything else. But she knew what she was capable of, and with that knowledge, there was a solid logic to it. The men nodded, bearing their weapons. When she referred to him as Xander, they smiled slightly and one nodded. “We call him General. They call him ‘The Silent Death’. They still do not believe he lives… Or the Prince doesn't want to believe it. After all, they are scared of what emerged from the Darkness.” One of the men said. It wasn't rude, he was simply letting her know of the Title bestowed to him. The Wraith and Silent Death, working together to form this army. Some of the men looked at eachother, and an older looking man nodded. “No disrespect to your abilities, but if you get hurt, do not be afraid to take your time. We trust you because the General trusts you… And his trust is only given to those who deserve it. And that is the highest form of praise we can give.” They all nodded. These men were the ones prepared to die. The younger men didn't get it. All of them had no comprehension that sometimes deaths were a part of the plan. That it was likely Xander at some point would be sending a group of men knowing they'd die, because that's what it would take to win a battle. But these were men who'd fought long enough to trust their General, and to willingly volunteer for such a role. Despite their wives and children. After all, they'd be dying at the ripe old ages ranging in the 40s/50s. "General, then. I will keep that in mind," Nainda agreed. Only in front of the army, to avoid the appearance of undermining his authority. It was only fair, when she'd asked to be referred to by title in front of them already. "And no disrespect taken, dear. I appreciate it. I will be fine, though. I have managed more dangerous maneuvers before." Though she appeared younger than any of these men, having ceased aging in her early twenties, she was rather similar in age to most of them. The only mystery here was why Xander had been so quick to trust her. She didn't mind though, and would ensure that it was not justified. During the two-hour trek, she had time to continue thinking about plans, this time more long-term. She hadn't seen any evidence of a healer in camp, which made sense since they were all conscripted to serve Locuria, and any who'd escaped would likely charge for their services. She'd have to check in with Xander to be sure out was something they lacked and not just a detail she had missed, but in the former case, she could step into that role. As it was, she'd already resolved to responding to any injuries on the battlefield when possible. She only ever used her magic to heal when necessary; for the most part, she would use more mundane means, but it was better than nothing. When they reached the destination, she helped the men set up for their descent while listening to the army gathered before. Between that and the lives she sensed, it seemed none of them had noticed the gathering on the rocky outcropping they occupied. Anyone with her squad could get a clear view down to them, but she didn't need to look to know it would be a simple jump and landing to get her near their wizard. "Is everyone clear on the plan?" she asked once preparations were in place, gathering the entire squadron close so they could speak quietly.

The men readied their weapons and nodded, ready for her move. Taking care of the wizard while they swept in to take care of the soldiers and the archers rained down volleys of arrows. A couple prepared crossbows and mounted them on their hips just in case they needed a quick one-shot kill at range. Once she moved, they awaited her attack to open the defenses. The wizard was currently holding an orb to amplify his magic, and likely meant to serve as a replacement for his own concentration on the spell. An old trick to help defensive or supportive wizards while not leaving them entirely helpless to defend themselves. He did have a sharp eye though, as when Nandia descended, he quickly drew out a rod and let loose a gout of Flames toward her. “Enflamgo!” He cried, likely to amplify the quickly cast spell. He was a battle wizard, he didn't have as much time to prepare spells as a wizard who could lay traps and other such magical effects. His specialty was quick magic to take advantage of an enemy caster who had to take a minute to prepare a spell while he could whip a decent one out in only 10-20 seconds. He then made a dash for the bell to warn the soldiers of an impending attack, not quite sure what they were facing, but knowing from how it fell and moved, there was no way that it was even human. @Al the Killer

Once everyone gave the all clear, Nainda walked to the edge. Her form changed, not beyond recognition, but certainly beyond what could be called half-elf. The tendrils reappeared. There was no knowing from the outside what changes occurred beneath the cloak, but the skin of her hands was far paler, the nails more like claws as an eyeball took form in the back of each hand. She didn't hesitate to jump down from the cliff, but miscalculated her landing point. Or rather, was spotted too soon. Instead of landing directly on the wizard, she found herself engulfed in flames. The cloak itself was imbued with multiple enchantments, and could withstand the flames, but she was not immune to heat. Beneath, her skin burned, bubbled, and ultimately regenerated over and over again. The power rushed through her body, and she knew that this was what it meant to be alive. She landed with an audible snap of one ankle, but it didn't seem to slow her down as she immediately gave chase. The orb could die with the wizard. For now, she darted ahead to position herself between him and the bell. It wasn't hard to get within melee range, granting her the perfect opportunity to reach out toward the wizard. "Decay," she said, to give him the same courtesy of announcing the spell being cast. It would, as the name implied, cause a living body to rot. She put enough power into it to make sure it worked quickly enough, though any screams of agony it caused would likely alert the rest of the camp. @Kain the Insane

The wizard let out a cry of surprise and horrific pain as his body began to rot. The cry fading to a gurgle as his vocal chords decayed and fell apart. His body and bones collapsed into nothing as men began to quickly leave their tents. The squadron began their assault, raining arrows down to either make people defend or die. The close ranged combatants quickly descended, using a similar method to her, although they drove in climbing spikes while holding tight to keep their fall slow enough that they could roll and immediately be ready for the assault. Their numbers may have been lesser, but the men’s skills and age showed. They closed the distance with the enemy soldiers, the men wielding spears staying behind their swordsmen. As the Swordsmen either stabbed or made openings, the spearmen followed up with stabs over the shields they’d wielded. The men who were firing arrows above quickly began to focus their fire so as to not hit their own men. The enemy soldiers quickly began to fight back though. Their numbers were the largest problem. The men remained in a defensive position ready to attack, but when 5 men could charge at you, guaranteeing they stab you in the neck at the cost of several of them, it was what they were willing for. And unfortunately as Xander had predicted, women emerged and while they didn’t seem armed, they grabbed a hold of men before perhaps releasing an explosive spell. The assault was going as reasonably well as it could, but they’d lost maybe 10 men out of the 30 or so who had come down. And the archers began to wield their magical arrows, firing some to pierce the armor and shields of the men, but several were firing quickly at Nainda as well, their shots focused on her torso and shoulders, perhaps trying to hit a lung or stop the movement of her arms. @Al the Killer

All hell broke loose, and she could feel her patron's delight, as surely as her own. Her attention shifted toward the other magic users who had not yet exploded. Decay, liquefy, simple explosions of the heart... Whatever attack suited her fancy. While the general rule may have been not to kill women, they were attacking. Also she was a woman herself, so she figured it was fair enough. Shadowy tendrils lashed out to choke enemies and grab arrows from the air. One did make it through her shoulder, but it would have had to pierce her heart and kill her immediately to stop her. Instead, she simply pushed it through until the arrow head came through the back of her shoulder, snapped off the fletching, and pulled the entire thing out, healing quickly. There was still more to do. She shifted her focus on the tents. Magic came from inside, from those waiting to come out and continue their destruction. A camp of seemingly non threatening magic users was clever enough that it would be admirable, if not for the fact that this was the enemy. "Burn the tents," she raised her voice and ordered, as this became clearer that the entire encampment was a trap. "And stay out of arm's reach when possible. Anyone not prepared to escape the flames, stay back and attack anyone who escapes." @Kain the Insane

The archers above heard and quickly lit torches. Shooting them at the tents before notching another arrow, awaiting anyone that came out. The men formed a defensive line, using shields and spears to push back any members that were approaching or attempting to escape. There was no time for sympathy or hesitation, especially because in the distance there were huge explosions, shaking down any loose stones. Likely Xander created that protection he’d promised, blasting the area where reinforcements were probably coming. It felt like he was practically causing earthquakes. Any soldiers that tried to escape were pushed back into the flames that were consuming the camp, leading to the screams of the dying being the only noises except distance booms. After the only noise was fire for several minutes, the men retrieved whatever supplies they could, even collecting arrows. Then came the bodies. Some men were alive from the suicide bombers, just horrifically burned. In all likelihood, they would die shortly from trauma, but that may have been the point. To retrieve the bodies of their fallen to bury when they got the chance to. @Al the Killer

Nainda pulled back with the defensive line to catch her breath. Her transformation faded, leaving only her usual form, unable to complete even a partial shift until she's rested. Indeed, exhaustion came heavy over her, but she resolved to push through it. She would not be a burden. She would make it back to camp, heal who she could, then pass out once she knew it was safe to do so. The second step probably couldn't even wait for their return to camp. The coast cleared, and she helped the others bring back the casualties. Everyone who was horribly injured but alive received the same choice: if they would accept the consequences of a painful healing process and unpredictable lifelong mutations, she could use magic to heal them here and now and save their lives, or she would see what she could do after they returned to camp - if they lived long enough. It wasn't much, but she would only do as much as the injured parties would allow. She looked back the way they had come. Out of the valley would be a more challenging path, but that was fine. At least they had been victorious, as much as someone could be in this situation. She listened to the distant explosions, using those as her informant to Xander's progress. @Kain the Insane

They all had the same condition. As long as Nainda could promise they would be able to continue fighting dorm their general, they would do anything. And if she touched them, they would pray for the Goddess of Fate to help guide her hands and magic in the healing process. Perhaps the Goddess’ intervention would perhaps make the effect more consistent and less turn them into invertebrates. But it was all the more a sign of just what sort of man Xander was. To command their respect, and have their loyalty and admiration so much so that they would do anything to continue fighting at his side. Their families were important, but they all knew that this war was the future of themselves and their families. And they had no healers back at camp, they made sure to tell her as much. Or, at least, no one who had yet to manifest the talent required to become a Cleric. However, they did mention that Xander was at one point what everyone called a Paladin, but they weren't sure if he could manifest his healing abilities anymore. @Al the Killer

Nainda healed them one by one and, mercifully enough, the changes to their bodies were mild for now, small mutations that wouldn't impede their abilities and were mostly concentrated near their wounds. Perhaps dumb luck, perhaps divine intervention, or more likely her weakened state... combined with dumb luck. By the time she finished with the last of them, her head was all but spinning. She reached into her cloak, subtly sliding out her dagger and pressing the palm of her hand against it. The sharp pain brought the world back into focus, and she healed up before taking out her waterskin for a quick drink. And as an excuse for what she'd been doing. She had been upfront about what fueled her power with Xander, but not everyone needed to know that, in her case, masochism was literal magic. Given the way Xander spoke of the gods, she doubted his Paladin oath still stood true, whatever it may have been, but the comments about it admittedly left her curious. She would have to ask him about that later, when she brought up the idea of a better setup for healing their wounded. For now, they had to get going. "Let's be on our way back," she said. "We've done more than what we came for already, and I should have enough herbs and bandages still in my tent to treat any minor injuries." She had seen people survive arrows to the chest and die from pricked fingers. There was no such thing as a harmless wound. Well... not to most people. She walked over at the ropes and looked up, wondering if she'd have the capacity to climb without slowing the others down right now. A shame she couldn't simply fly. "...Alternately, if there is no land route back, you can leave me. I will catch up later." Or be captured by the enemy, but she'd have to trust that they'd run out of reinforcements sooner than later. @Kain the Insane

One of the men shook his head, getting out some extra rope. He picked her up and had the other healthy men secure her to his back with the rope. “No, General says you get treated like us. So, no soldiers kept behind. Hold on tight, I can get us up.” He said seriously. The men who were recovering from being healed were given the same treatment. Not to mention they didn't give her time to complain they just started hauling her up the rope as soon as they could manage. He struggled a bit more than normal, but once they reached the top, he let her down by having some of the rope untied. The men took a long moment to stretch and flex themselves out, as the climb was tough and this helped to loosen them up. They then made their way back to the camp. In the distance, there were explosions of flame and blasts of dirt. Xander was killing the reinforcements that were called, and so when they arrived back, the only one not there was Xander. The other squads returned, the young squad looking a bit worse for the wear, but nothing that a warm bath wouldn't fix. Speaking of, some of the women came to Nainda and let her home of some bathes they'd set up for the wives and daughters, seperate from the men. That way she could wash herself without any interruptions or attempted peeking. @Al the Killer

"What are you- hey!" Nainda protested as she was picked up, but soon accepted the treatment, since others were receiving the same. "...Very well. I will allow this," she acknowledged in an attempt to retain some dignity. She held on tightly, resisting the urge to tell him to just drop her if she was too heavy. It would probably sound like an insult to his strength instead of merely a self-deprecating comment. Once back on her feet, she walked back to the camp, making sure to do so quickly enough to be at the front of the group. She looked over the other squadrons who had returned. Few injuries, but injuries nonetheless. She listened to the women who were talking to her. She had to admit, it was odd to see non-combatants. During her time in the war, women and children were ordered to stay home, or with foster families if needed. Of course, 'women' didn't include magic users - they were more disposable than any gender, in the eyes of the Locurian government. As it was, she wanted to politely decline the offer they were making, but she hardly had the energy to. Taking on the duty of physician would take hours, and doing so while covered in dirt, ash, and blood would be counterproductive. "Tell the men that I will keep my promise to heal them when I am able," she said instead, and followed the directions to the baths. She made sure to wash quickly, not wanting to relax enough to lose consciousness. There was plenty to be done. But she had to admit, bathing after a battle still felt nice, even when she rushed it, and she couldn't help but smile, just a bit. When was the last time she'd ever felt like she truly belonged somewhere? When was the last time anyone who wasn't family had treated her like a person? But there was no time for sentimentality. She got dressed and walked back out. @Kain the Insane

The men of course made due, giving greetings to their wives and children. Some of the men who were beyond healing were buried swiftly to show respects. Once she emerged, the wounded were gathered, having their wounds cleaned with soapy water, then having them dried and bandaged. It was crude bandaging, but these men were warriors who hadn't had to worry about it before. Now, they simply applied the sort of makeshift bandages you might make in the middle of a battle when you were wounded. It could make due, but it wasn't going to do too well in the long term. The man who carried her approached and nodded. “General just arrived back. The wounded are being cleaned and bandaged as best we can manage. The raiding squad didn't have any wounded due to them simply sneaking up and killing the caravan guards. We have extra supplies, some of them perhaps medical herbs if you need them.” He nodded, reporting the events not like she was a superior officer, but just a friend he was catching up to the situation. @Al the Killer

Nainda nodded as she listened. It was good to know more, at least. "Thank you. For the update, and for earlier," she said. "If you can have the extra supplies brought to my tent, I'll see to setting up a proper infirmary," she said. "I have additional herbs as well, and would like to take inventory. There is more to ensuring everyone recovers than just bandaging the wounds. Though, yes, that is helpful." She looked past him, though it was her hearing and sense for magic that would more likely guide her right now. "I do have to speak with Xa- I mean, the General first, though. Do you know where exactly he has gone?" With the last of the stress beginning to leave her body, it was harder to force herself to keep going, and her eyelids felt heavy, no matter how much she made sure to keep looking alert. She tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear as she looked, unused to having it down in public. @Kain the Insane

“Where he always is. His command tent. It's where he spends the majority of his time when not in the field or giving orders. There are few constants in life, but that's where General Xander ALWAYS is.” The officer said with a bit of a smile. He grabbed another soldier and they went to retrieve what they thought were medical supplies to carry to her tent. Some of the herbs were a bit unclear as to what the fuck they were, and if they were for cooking or medicine or a fucking high. Whatever they were, she would be able to sort through them a bit and find whatever would be their best use in the situation. Sighing softly, Xander was in his tent, eating a piece of salted pork while he was trying his bed to see if he could manage some less destructive magic. But no matter how he tried, no matter how much he focused on being gentle, the magic would cause the fruit or object to crush itself or ignite in Flames. He couldn't heal anymore, or at least, he didn't think he could anymore. @Al the Killer

Nainda would keep that in mind. For now, she thanked him again and walked over to the command tent. Not wanting to show up completely unannounced, she stopped outside to ring a small bell, waited a moment, then stepped cautiously in. "Were you already updated on how the battle went?" she asked, then because she had to let out the one detail that bothered her most, came right out with it. "They're using women as fucking human bombs now. Because of course they are; this is an enemy without a conscience we're talking about." The words came out with a blatant anger that was rare for her to display. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and forced herself to speak more calmly. "So, how did your part of the battle go?" The tent was swimming. Not literally, but in her perception, nothing could quite sit still and, try as she may, she couldn't parse any response he might have given. She was uninjured, but she'd put a lot of magical energy into the battle in a short period of time, after years of avoiding combat; she had not yet built her endurance back up. The room pitched sideways as she collapsed in Xander's general direction, unconscious and, for now, unable to be woken up. @Kain the Insane

Xander had been ready to speak to her, until she passed out. He caught her and carefully had to shift her. He didn't want to hurt her by carrying her wrong, plus his new strength was something he wasn't too sure of yet. Especially after he'd been feeling frustrated and angry about being unable to control his magic. So, he carried her to the bed he slept on and tried to lay her down onto the mattress. It wasn't any better than anyone else's, although he didn't have a blanket because he hadn't been bothered by the hot and cold too much after everything that went on down below. @Al the Killer

She was out cold, but still breathing and uninjured. She just... Wasn't about to wake up for any reason for the next eight hours or so. Even do, as she was picked up, she remained responsive enough to cling to the nearest source of warmth. Her arms wrapped tightly around him, holding the softness of her chest against him. That grip only tightened as she was set down, as though to keep him down with her. Of course, he could pry her off if he really wanted to. She'd more than proven that she was sturdy enough that she'd been fine. But her expression was peaceful in a way he wouldn't have seen it before, and it was still cold in the mountains and she'd spent years exiled from them - without a blanket, a cloak, or any motion to keep her warm, she was shivering slightly. So, in her exhaustion, she held tight to the nearest warm thing. Or... Person, in this case. @Kain the Insane

Xander felt her death grip and he took a deep breath. Her shivering made the decision harder. Plus she fell asleep without treating people. So, he picked her back up, positioning her to let her grip hik with her arms and legs, her head resting under his chin. Coming to her tent, he began his own work. Checking the medical supplies, cross-referencing herbs to make sure they were right, and other such things. He then began to treat the men with the medical supplies. He may not have had magic to heal, but he'd taken some time to learn about being an herbalist and a medic. Rubbing her back, he took a deep breath and softly exhaled. He made sure to see everyone with even minor wounds and address them as best he could to make sure that they'd heal properly and wouldn't have to deal with things like infections. Of course he'd gotten some looks, but he explained that she'd simply gotten a death grip on him and he couldn't remove her without hurting her, and he wasn't going to be doing that. At least not right now. Once he was done seeing people, he retrieved a blanket and began to consider removing her and putting her onto her own bed. Being held like this felt a bit strange, but he didn't have to worry about getting turned on or anything, he didn't really think of her or anyone that way anymore. @Al the Killer

For the most part, sleep was oblivion. None of her patron's thoughts or memories could reach her in this deep rest. But in some ways, she could still feel. The vague sense of safety reached her unconscious mind. Of warmth, the sort she hadn't felt in so long. The world moved around her, but none of it could hurt her anymore. For the most part, her physical body was still, just clinging to Xander. But as he retrieved the blanket, she nuzzled her cheek against his shoulder, like it was a comfortable pillow she didn't quite want to leave yet. If he did set her down and try to pull away, she would still reach for him in her sleep, because he was still going to be warmer than the blanket. The best course of action might have been to just rest with her and let her cling until she'd woken up enough to let go, but she couldn't really control what he did; it would still be his decision. Either way, when she woke up, it was a slow return of consciousness. She reached out toward whatever the nearest source of warmth was and yawned, taking a moment longer to appreciate the comfort of being back in a bed before opening her eyes. @Kain the Insane

As she woke up, Xander was staring her in the eyes. It wasn’t some warm, loving stare, no, it was those eyes of his open looking directly into her. “You wouldn’t let me go, and I didn’t want to break anything while peeling you off of me. Nothing happened but that.” He assured her. Hey, he may not have many feelings left, but he had been trying to make sure he didn’t give the wrong vibe. Didn’t want her thinking he’d take advantage of her in her sleep. Slowly, he moved away and stood up. “To continue where you passed out, I rained down explosions and blasts of force on reinforcements. They pin cushioned me a bit, but being shot through the head, torso, arms and legs with arrows hardly does anything these days. I know they use women as bombs… They’ve done it to children too. I-“ His face went dark, and he quietly closed his eyes and shook his head. Some emotion touched his face as he spoke. “I held a little girl as they made her explode. She was… She made it through the blast. So severely injured that she wasn’t going to make it. I… Held her until the end, trying to give her some comfort.” Xander spoke softly and he picked up his sword. Clenching the hilt, he reminded himself of what he did to that captain afterward. That made him feel a little bit better. Although that also was a bit scary. He’d tortured him for information and made sure he was in complete and total agony up until the last moment. @Al the Killer

It wasn't an unpleasant first sight by any means, but definitely a bit creepy to wake up to someone who wasn't a lover staring right at her. She quickly sat up and pulled away from him. She wouldn't have thought he'd done anything to take advantage - she trusted him not to - but the entire situation was still awkward, to say the least. "I... would have healed quickly," she said, her face flushing with embarrassment. She didn't look directly at him until he spoke of the previous battles. Her expression softened as she reached over to place her hand on his. Gentle this time, easy for him to pull away. "I'm sorry. They'll pay for this," she assured him, gently as one could speak of revenge. He was picking up his sword though, and she knew the tender moment was over. Running her fingers through her hair to disentangle it a little, she looked around at the tent. At least, what little she could see. The smell of herbs was stronger than before. Someone had been using them, and it certainly hadn't been her. The faint smell of blood confirmed it. She put the pieces together in her head. "You tended to the wounded while I was unconscious," she observed. Her job, which she'd failed to do. Always a failure. Always Nothing. The usual self-doubts nagged at the back of her mind. She wanted to blame Arrath for those thoughts, but they'd existed long before the pact; she'd been chosen for her suitability as host to a being that fed off pain, after all. She kept her expression carefully neutral, calculated. She refused to show the spiral going on inside her mind and instead held it in, letting her patron revel in the misery she could blame nobody but herself for causing. "I'm sorry," she said after a moment's hesitation. For all the care she put into moderating her tone, it accidentally came out cold as a result. "I behaved unprofessionally. It will not happen again." @Kain the Insane (edited)

“If you’re tired, sleep. If you’re hungry, eat. If you’re thirsty, drink. Don’t blame yourself for the functions of your body. You can check on the men to see if I did anything incorrect. I used the knowledge I have from treating wounds in the past.” Xander flexed his fingers and he took a deep breath. Taking his sword, he put it on his belt and waved his hand to strengthen the fires and their light. “I’m taking the younger men to run drills. You can see to the wounded to make sure everything is fine. Otherwise, see what information you can gather or relax. It’s snowing, and there will be no supplies sent for until that fat fuck realizes we’ve stolen them.” He spoke before he stood up and left. Gathering the young men, he brought them out to the forest to see their teamwork and to help them work on their extra close quarters combat. Fighting was tough already, but doing so in enclosed spaces was something important they needed to learn, especially if they were intending on doing one of the best war tactics. Using the terrain to their advantage. He would, of course, be a harsh instructor, but they needed someone capable of whipping them into shape, and he would be doing just that. She'd had more questions to ask him, but they weren't urgent. They both had things to do now, so she could simply chat with him later. He hadn't answered her request for more early-morning chats, but maybe she could pay him a visit anyway. For now, once he left, she got out of the bed. She took a moment to brush her hair out and pull it back up into its usual bun, so she looked presentable once more. She definitely wasn't going to just relax after making promises and passing out with them unfulfilled. It was easy enough to say that she shouldn't blame herself, when he didn't have to worry about exhaustion or death. Another entirely to actually stop blaming herself. She set to work on inventorying the herbs. She was sure he'd already done so, but he hadn't told her any sort of summary, and she wanted to make sure everything was organized in a way that was easy for her to remember. The herbal chest she'd brought with her was compartmentalized, and she had carved small patterns of scratches into the wood beside each compartment. They didn't resemble any actual writing or imagery, but she could feel them with her fingertips and know what it meant because she remembered how she'd encoded it. Better for emergency situations than if she were to rely on scent alone. As she was wrapping up her inventory task, she noticed the small, smooth stone among her belongings glowing with a faint green light. A sign that someone was using it to contact her. She picked it up and thought her response, knowing the person on the other end would receive the thoughts she sent. Rochelle. Their General has agreed to the plan. I hope you're sure you're prepared to help with the task. Of course. I have long grown tired of my complicity in these matters, came the other voice in her mind, followed by a moment's hesitation. Just... try not to kill my children? If it becomes unavoidable, I understand, but...

I know. Of course she did; she was a mother, herself. She knew too well, and would be less forgiving even for necessity if someone were to harm her son, grown or otherwise. Do you have a contact within the castle at large? My lady in waiting is prepared to relay messages for us. A large piece they'd been missing, and of course the answer was as simple as palace staff who were dissatisfied with the current state of things. Nainda allowed herself a smile again, even if nobody could see it for herself. She'd be sure to tell Xander the news, when he was not busy. Good. Have her find out what motivates each of the prince's wives, what sort of life they would truly be leading if they had their way. Any leverage we can use to offer them in exchange for assisting our victory. Make sure she is discreet. If you even begin to suspect she is about to betray us... you know what to do. I will. Stay safe out there on the battlefield, Miss Townsend. Nainda chuckled. 'Miss Townsend' sounded like she should be a tutor or governess somewhere, not managing healing and espionage for a revolutionary army. The formality didn't suit her. Don't worry. If I do die, I am taking the entire monarchy down with me. She stood up and walked out of the tent, placing the stone in a small pouch. She checked on the men who Xander had helped, offering reassurances that she was fine if they asked. There were a couple of things here and there that she would have done differently, but nothing medically important. It could wait until time came to change their bandages. She instructed each of them to see her before bed, after breakfast, and during midday until they were healed. With the snow fall, it would take some work to make the herbs last, and she was sure at some point they would be relying heavily on what they could steal. @Kain the Insane

Xander was out in the forest with the young men, training them. They’d done somewhat well, and he’d been giving them pointers on their form and some flaws they had. “Sanders, you’re too relaxed, you can be confident in your abilities without letting your guard down, I could’ve snapped your neck and you wouldn’t have noticed until we were eye to eye. Gerald, you’re TOO cautious. Every corner. Ours have an enemy, but you have to be willing to say ‘Fuck it’ sometimes. Have confidence, especially if you want to become a squad leader. Leonard, you’ve got to decide what you want to do. You possess skill, but skill alone isn't going to be able to carry you your whole life. You are skilled with a blade, a Spear, and archery, but you CAN'T bog yourself down with so much equipment. Think about it. And Marvin… You're doing well. But remember, you're on a team, not competing. Help your friends watch their backs a bit just like they help you by watching yours.” The men continued drills, and after hours passed, returned looking more like a team. Xander had a couple of arrows sticking out of his torso and he was pulling them out as they walked back in whe. He looked around. Everyone seemed to be in much better spirits. That was nice to see, after they'd been having such a rough time getting anything done. It was close to dinner, so he broke out some of the Sweet Rolls. A special treat since everyone was doing well. Retrieving the crate, he popped it open with his hand and then nodded, taking a deep breath. Everyone began to gather to eat, and he gathered his food before returning to his tent to relax for a moment. Eat in some nice peace and quiet as he calmed the nightmares his mind dreamed up to dissipate. For the first time in a while too, he felt something. A need. A desire. Perhaps because of all the stimulation he'd had while playing a hunter. He felt aroused for the first time in a while. Like, he wanted to have sex. It felt odd, yes, but he didn't mind that too much. @Al the Killer

Despite her choice to keep everyone who was inevitably going to die at arm's length, Nainda still found herself relaxed enough to be engaging in actual conversation with one of the men in her squadron and his wife. Nothing too deep, but Asta was a musician herself, so they found a pleasant topic to discuss when they didn't have differing, somewhat heated opinions on the practical importance of the conscious learning of music theory when it came to actual performance. She found it an enjoyable chat. But when dinner rations came out with the rare treat of sweet rolls, they politely went their separate ways and collected their food. Once Nainda had hers, she looked toward the tent Xander had disappeared into. Now was the time to ask him a few questions. She brought her dinner with her as she approached, ringing a bell first. "Xander? Do you have a moment to talk," she asked. "I wanted to run a few ideas by you. If you'd rather eat first, we can do that. Or if you would prefer to be alone, I can come back later." She didn't want to make herself more of a burden than she was already convinced she'd been. @Kain the Insane

“You don't have to be so worried. Go ahead, tell me your ideas. I'm not doing anything right now.” He said, eating his rations silently and awaiting her words. It wasn't like he was about to start stroking it or something, he was just eating and contemplating. If he'd known she was wanting to spare the Prince, he might be a bit frustrated, but he could get over that. His hatred of the Prince was palpable, especially after everything he'd done to the army and the Kingdom. What he'd done to those women. Despicable. Xander didn't wear his armor this time, and was instead in some more casual clothes. His fingers ended in nails that came to a point, and his arms and legs when on display showed off those scales more. Plus, the way his body moved made it look like his muscle strands were far more thick than they should be. But then again, his body was unprecedented for a reason. @Al the Killer

"Considerate, not worried," Nainda corrected as she walked in. He looked... Different without the armor on. Obviously. Anyone would. Still, even if she couldn't see much clearly, she certainly appreciated what she did see. There was a unique beauty to it and, the longer she lived, the more tired she grew of bland, conventional concepts of attractiveness. Not that she would tell him any of that. She took a seat on the edge of the bed instead. "First of all, I was thinking of setting up a more formalized infirmary," she said. "My tent will suffice, since it's large enough, and our numbers are already low and dwindling; we can't have fighters dying of preventable infections. An apprentice might be good as well if there is anyone available, since you have your own tasks and I may be incapacitated in the future." She paused to eat, waiting to hear his thoughts on the first idea. @Kain the Insane

Nodding, he set aside his food for a moment and took a breath. Was there anyone they had? Technically anyone could be a warlock, although they lacked the power one has when born with the Spark and making a Pact. “Yes, I agree. Were down to maybe 200 men able to fight. The women and children are here because they need to be kept safe… I imagine you could find a soldier or any of the women and Children who have some talent for it. But I'm not quite sure… One of the older women may be your best bet. They've been taking care of their husbands for a long time.” Xander suggested, standing up and beginning to pace. His stomach wanted him to return to eating, but he wanted to give her a proper response. Now he was pacing because it was what he did when in thought. He'd worked with some of the mages to use his magic to create the hear that staved off death from hypothermia. Using his magic power as a battery to create a larger spell. They could probably create a clean tent. “I'll order the men to gather the tents of the fallen warriors who no longer use them. We can work on making them into a sufficiently large tent with the ground covered from fabric too to prevent any contaminants from getting any recovering soldiers…” @Al the Killer

A magical healer wasn't realistic right now, no matter how ideal it would have been, but anyone with a sharp enough mind could learn herbalism. Physicians were not necessarily magic users, even if that was best for severe injuries. "I wouldn't discredit a younger apprentice either, so long as they are not tooyoung," she said. "They may be less experienced, but they have a higher likelihood of surviving. Retrieving the injured from the field or even just keeping track of who needs healing is physically demanding work, and in cases of illness in the camp, resistance to disease is important." Besides, she remembered what it was like to be young and feel helpless: several of them would want to assist, but feel like there was nothing they could do. "And with all respect, would it not be better to use the large tent that's already in the camp? It's more than large enough, and I don't need that much space for my living quarters. I can use one of the fallen soldiers' tents just as well, and that way we still have a few for new recruits. Of course, setting up ground cover is a good idea, so we won't have all of them, but better than stripping them all down." She'd rather downgrade her living situation to the same as everyone else than drain resources.

"Also, sit back down and eat. It's no good trying to plan on an empty stomach." She paid her own meal a bit more attention before speaking again. "Aside from that, I have also spoken with Rochelle again. She has a contact within the castle itself who can get some more information from the princesses. Something that will help us turn them fully to their side, and buy the silence of any who remain reluctant." But she also had to bear the inconvenient news. "But as the prince's mother, and a lifelong non-combatant, she is... Naive when it comes to the danger involved with keeping him alive. I can work on changing her mind about not wanting him dead, but until that happens or he gives us an excuse to kill him, we may need to settle for imprisonment, with some... psychological pressure applied to keep him from doing anything foolish. Or to provoke him into giving us a reason to have to kill him, as the case may be." She shrugged. "I would prefer to execute him, but right now we need to keep our informant loyal. It's a delay, but there could be worse scenarios than this." @Kain the Insane

Xander sighed softly and returned to his food. He ate some while.she spoke.and he shook his head gently. “Okay. So for now, we can't kill him that's fine… I'm certain I have other ways to give some justice for all the people he's murdered. All the money he's taken from those with none…” His voice was soft, but Kain could picture it in his mind. The sweet screams of a man who's getting his penis flattened. His fingernails ripped off one by one, or maybe even removed the fingers knuckle by knuckle until he's only got his palms. However, he banished those thoughts for the moment. To the back of his mind, he wrapped them tight. “Okay. Let her know I'll do whatever is required. But let me ask you a question… About an idea of my own…” Xander leaned in, his face coming close to her's. Perhaps letting her see his yellow eyes and those inhuman back teeth much more clearly. “If you had a battery… And someone to help you focus… Could you rearrange someone's face? Make them appear as a different person? Because, we may only have a small militia now, but if we could get someone in to spread word to other commoners and peasants that the rebellion is real, I'm certain we could get more volunteers. Guards and normal folk alike.” He suggested, tilting his head and rubbing his chin. Getting more volunteers was important, otherwise they would have to seek allies elsewhere if necessary. And as they'd agreed upon earlier, getting another country to help would let them get their fingers into Locurian Politics, and they didn't want to owe anyone any favors. @Al the Killer

He didn't need to say it to get his point across; the same thoughts crossed Nainda's mind. "Yes, I also opted not to inform her of her additional naivete when it comes to worse fates than death," she said vaguely, then moved on. "I'll let her know her children will be spared unless we are left with no other choice." She looked over at him, which proved to be a mistake, since he was a lot closer than expected. Her heart jumped a bit, though decidedly not out of fear. The sharp teeth were more visible now, and she briefly wondered how they would feel against... No, she couldn't let herself have these thoughts. No matter how long she had been... Pent up... She'd always had an unspoken rule about not sleeping with the soldiers she fought beside. Even if technically, they hadn't been fighting together. Besides, he likely wouldn't even be interested. He had implied that her face would be more frightening to his army than an ominous cloaked figure. And she didn't need to give anyone an excuse to claim she had slept her way to her position. She blinked and looked away, appearing thoughtful. "I have not tried it before," she admitted. "Theoretically, since it is not an act of healing, it could be possible... One second." She fell silent, focused on something beyond his sight. Searching the memories of those before her, if they had done such a thing before. A couple of them had. Criminals, changing their own faces, but she needed... Ah. A spymaster, with similar experience to what he was claiming. "It is just a more artistic form of fleshcrafting, not dissimilar to what I have done during my exile for the families of those who have died in combat. I will not need a battery - energy output is low - but help focusing can never hurt. Do we want them to look like a specific person, or simply not be recognizable as part of this army?" @Kain the Insane

“Can't have them looking like anyone specifically. They need to look like someone who no one would suspect. A nobody moving into the kingdom. Huh… You… I don't think I noticed. Your eyes are…” He tilted his head. Was she partially blind? Something about her eyes was telling him. Maybe it was the colors not quite matching. Or maybe it was simply an instinct. Shaking his head, he cleared his throat. “Sorry, I… Have been feeling a bit weirdly as of late. For a battery, you can use me. My energy is… Well, I bombarded a battalion for hours and didn't feel too drained. I'm not quite sure if I HAVE a limit. Or, at least one that can be reached conventionally.” He said, rubbing the back of his head. It wasn't easy not knowing what the fuck he could and couldn't do. After all, she slept to recharge her magic, he didn't have to sleep. Perhaps eating was all it took for him… And it would make sense. After all, its what got him into this mess as… Whatever the fuck he'd become. Although he did notice her glance at his teeth. That predator part of his brain definitely took notice. ”A female is checking your teeth, Kain. She's a predator like you. Only interested in those who can do sufficient harm. Nainda tilted her head as well, silently questioning the unfinished sentence. Was he about to compliment them? (Best case scenario.) Question why they were so pale? Question why the pupils were so dilated? (Worst case scenario.) And the mention of using him did not help because her mind nearly wandered off in a completely different direction. "Although I do not need a battery for what you're requesting right now, I may need to keep that in mind for future battles," she said. Her own transformation required a lot of energy, after all, due to the massive boost in speed, strength, and magical potency. Then, because she was a healer, she had to ask: "Now, you mentioned feeling 'weird' as of late. Could you elaborate? Perhaps I have something that could help." After all, the herbs from the raid had turned out to be a pretty good stock and variety. She set aside the empty plate from her dinner. The sweet rolls had been a nice treat after a battle, at least. @Kain the Insane

Xander pressed hisnlips together, trying to think of the words to say? It was a bit difficult to say the least. “Predatory instincts. Feeling the thrill of the hunt. My brain sees the young men as prey… No killing urge on them. Perhaps because of a sense of parenthood? Like a wolf training his cubs? Then I felt arousal from the hunt, the need to breed a female. And seeing you up close, I feel like I'm looking at another predator, and I want to pin you down and fill you with my young until you give me potent, powerful offspring.” Xander explained, his voice monotonous, as if every man had felt that. And to an extent, perhaps they did, but the way he described it was much more intense. Like how a wolf or a lion looks for a mate. Perhaps it was simply the wolves and more animal-like monsters he devoured. Or maybe it was the Giant. Legend had said the God's neutered them using a special magic to make sure they couldn't flood the earth with creatures powerful enough to kill or devour them and all of mortal life. So, a creature like that, who had been rendered to its base instincts and hadn't had a cock and balls for millenia? Probably would be finding to pound a female until she was limp and pregnant. @Al the Killer

It started out normal enough. The wording was a bit unusual, but she didn't fault him for that; wanting to protect the younger fighters was only natural, human even. Then it took a hard turn, far from what she'd expected when she had offered to help. It was decidedly not the most romantic speech she'd ever heard, but that made sense considering the fact that he intended this only in a purely physical sense. Her sense of self-respect wanted to ask if he was attracted to her or if she was just convenient, then remind him that he had hands if the latter case were true. The thing was, self-respect was outweighed by the idea of wild, animalistic sex, because she should not have been half as turned on by that as she was. "I see..." she said, trying to keep her reactions under control. She couldn't stop the colour that rose to her cheeks though, or the further pupil dilation as she looked him over. She clearly wasn't threatened by his statement, though, knowing that he wouldn't do anything she wouldn't agree to. Which was probably why he was saying and not doing right now. She looked toward the entrance to the tent, as though to make sure they were alone. "Are you propositioning me, or only explaining yourself?" She could deal with either answer, but she wasn't about to make a fool out of herself by saying yes to something that was not, in fact, an actual offer. @Kain the Insane

“I suppose… Propositioning. If you're okay with that. I don't know… How I’ll react. You're a beautiful woman with power. And… I know it's not right, but… I was a bit… Possessive. Beforehand. My first love, I never told her my feelings, but… Every guy around wanted to fuck her. I wanted to prove I was worthy of her love… But… I was intimidated and frustrated by every guy wanting to be with her. And then I got caught up in trying to be a symbol for the commoners and peasants. All of this to say… I think… If you were to not want to do it with just me, then we forget about it.” Xander admitted. It was the closest he'd shown to being flustered. And it was by her. Not to mention he found her attractive. Honestly, he expected her to say no, because he knew she likely wasn't going to want any commitment. And he couldn't blame her. Just tell her that he preferred to be the only one his partner slept with. And he wasn't sure how that would Interact with his animal instincts. Last thing he wanted was for her to flirt with a soldier or sleep with them and he did something bad. “I know it's likely very selfish. But… I'm not a good person anymore. I'm… A Monster now. And it's just in my new nature, I suppose…” @Al the Killer

Nainda relaxed a bit as he spoke. He was clearly nervous, but also had a clear, genuine interest in her. It was a bit endearing, to see him display vulnerability for once in front of her. When was the last time he would have felt safe expressing himself like that...? "Xander," she said, reaching out to cup his cheek in one hand, as though to calm him. "It's in human nature, too." She personally could have been fine with or without monogamy; as long as the boundaries were clear, she didn't mind. But she'd also always been a bit odd. "And you're... people aren't good or bad. But I will admit, I am really not in the mood to discuss moral philosophy right now. My own thoughts are far more primal right now." She pulled herself closer to him, her eyes half-shut. "Just know that if I get the impression that you really don't have a clue what you're doing, I'll be taking control for a while." There was no insult to him there; just the fact that, if she was going to be sleeping with one person, she wanted to make sure she enjoyed it. She figured getting more dominant for a few minutes was a better way of dealing with it than running off to someone else. But she was patient and for now, she would still let him make the first move. @Kain the Insane

Shrugging his shoulders, he removed her clothes. He was extra slow and gentle, although to be fair, it was probably because he didn't want to accidentally move too fast and rip her clothes. He was considerate when it came to things like that. Standing up, he removed his own, just as gently and out came Xander's Dragon. One might say Snake for a normal guy, but Xander was… Not normal. He sighed and cleared his throat. His balls were rather large too. It would normally be very difficult to suppress a size, but he probably managed it through magic. After all, while his magic was destructive, he seemed relatively immune to his own magic. Well, that was one thing she could squirrel away in the mental vault. If those princesses wanted to make babies or have satisfying sex with someone bigger than a baby carrot, Xander could likely deliver. Especially since she was going to help him. “I know female anatomy… If you'd like for me to start with my fingers. I… Am a virgin. But my instincts can definitely guide me further if you'd like me to let them…” He said, focusing and forcing his hand to transform a bit. Managing to get his nails into a normal shape rather than the points they usually came too. That way he wouldn't stab her insides or anything. @Al the Killer

Going straight to undressing as the first move was already rushing it a bit, but he seemed to still want to be considerate, so she opted to trust him right now. She shifted to make it a bit easier for him, discarding her dress to the side. The tent itself was still cold after the snowfall earlier in the day, but she trusted that it wouldn't be noticeable for much longer. Given the instincts that he claimed had led him to this point, he would likely appreciate the view anyway. Her dresses may have given a hint of her curves, but didn't quite compare to the sight of them bare. Her breasts had been somewhat compressed, and they really hadn't communicated the wide hips or thick thighs further down. She had her own view to appreciate, too, since it did not take visual acuity to get the idea. "Most people would start above the waist," she admitted, which were bold words coming from someone who could not force her gaze anywhere above the waist right now. It was as though she had entirely forgotten that his eyes were up there. "But yes, fingers or tongue would be fine first." Between her tolerance for pain and the fact that she could make small adjustments to her own body as needed, she didn't require much preparation, but a considerate partner still made it more enjoyable. She finally managed to look away from his cock and reached out to take his hands, to pull him gently closer to her. "So, show me darling." Her voice was a bit lower, thicker with arousal. “Right now… They drive me to go for the… ‘Main Event’... Ad it were. But we're not animals… Not yet… So…” He moved down and looked up at her. It was a new view he hadn't expected. First, he bit the skin around her pussy, his teeth Sinking into the soft flesh, but not so much so that it would be too painful and override the pleasure. No, he seemed to gauge the look of pain on her face. His tongue pushed inside her, beginning to move around. It was a bit inexperienced, but he began to find places she might use when masterbsting. Placed more sensitive than usual. His tongue began to lick and press on those places. His left hand reached up and he began to pinch and play with her exposed clit. His right hand going up to begin griping one of her breasts, also showing a bit of inexperience as he searched for the most sensitive places so he could exploit them. His tongue, teeth, and hands were as methodical as his nature. Finding the most efficient way to make her feel good and then beginning to exploit it. Maybe better not to listen to his instincts, then. She let go of his hands so he could get to work, shifting a bit so he could more easily work between her thighs. And it wasn't long before her unasked question about those sharp teeth answered itself. Her gasp was more of surprise than pain as she tilted her head back. Her pain threshold and tolerance were both high enough, but she hadn't expected that. She smiled and looked down at him again so he'd know she was fine. As his tongue slipped inside, she rested a hand against the back of his head, biting her lower lip to hold back the soft moan that wanted to escape. The pleasure knotted together, a new welcome tension inside of her. Her nipple pressed against the palm of his hand, hardened by the combination of stimulation and cold. It had been far too long since anyone had touched her like this. "Fuck," she breathed, her hand tightening in his hair but careful not to pull too hard. "You're doing great, darling~" Not that she needed too much to speak; he would more than taste the proof of it on his tongue. She allowed herself a few small sounds. She didn't want to risk being heard, particularly not this early on, but it was a challenge to hold her pleasure in once his efforts began to pay off. @Kain the Insane

Xander found the groove of things. It took him a minute to maybe get it internalized, but he mapped those places in his mind. Now he could do more risky things and try to push this further. His tongue delving deeper with a surprising ability to extend. He began to find new places inside her. His right hand began to not only grope, but he made sure to use his palm to rub her nipple and provide that extra bit of stimulation. He even began to change which breast he was doing it to to spice things up. And when between them, he’d pinch both of her nipples and pull on them. His teeth sunk in a bit deeper to mix in some more pain, as his left hand moved under her ass. Their be began to rub his thumb up against her anal, teasing it to perhaps add a bit of anticipation too. Unless she wasn’t particularly into that part of things, in which case, she could always stop him. But he made sure to keep his hands and mouth working in unison together to try and drive her crazy. Make her feel really good and get himself nice and warmed up for what was coming. Perhaps she was lucky her bodily control meant she could prevent pregnancy, because once the two of them god going, they may both be too focused to get him pulled out. Plus, seeing how big those balls were probably meant he wasn’t shooting small loads with lots of blanks. A large load with lots of swimmers was more likely than not. @Al the Killer

The risk was definitely paying off. What he could do with his tongue was certainly a pleasant surprise, and she made a mental note to repay that particular favour later. For now, she let him explore new depths, pain and pleasure mingling together into something altogether more intoxicating than either. In all honesty, she should have tried this sooner - something both she and her patron would enjoy. The voices were certainly quiet now, opting to let her have this. The hand beneath her would have a hard time moving on its own, so she lifted her hips to grant him access, doubling as confirmation that she was more than happy to let him tease her wherever he wished. Already, she could feel the pleasure reaching a high point, then its plateau, hovering close to the edge. Her thighs rested on his shoulders by either side of his head, squeezing slightly as she began to tremble. It was almost embarrassing; she vaguely remembered that she used to last a lot longer before coming undone. @Kain the Insane

Slowly pushing his thumb inside her anal and teasing the inside of it, he delved his tongue as deep as he could manage and began to tease her g-spot. It was a bit easier to find and use, since it had a consistent place withing a woman. His right hand pinched her nipples more often, and he even began to lightly twist them. If she thought this was good, she would probably very much enjoy what his instincts screamed for him to do. Get her on her hands and knees, bite the back of her neck like how a dog and wolf do when mounting their mate, and use his strength and power to pound her into submission. His mind raced through all of his instincts and ideas as his heart beat continued to increase and rise faster and harder than before. He wanted to bloat her womb with cum, make sure everyone knew she was his mate, and to fill her with strong offspring. For several moments, the tension felt like it would remain at that constant forever. Then his tongue hit just the right spot, and it boiled over into a release of blinding pleasure. Keeping quiet proved impossible as she arched her back, clenching and pulsing around his tongue and thumb. Yet something remained, still not quite satisfied. The need to be filled, and to be fulfilled again. It didn't matter how he did it, she just needed him to fuck her senseless. She cupped his face between her hands again to pull him away from what he'd been doing and close enough to kiss his lips, a silent expression of need. But it didn't stay silent for long after. "I want you inside me," she whispered, glancing down to see if he was quite ready yet. If not, she'd be happy to lend a hand or other body part to help, but there was something delightful to be said about a man who got and stayed hard from pleasuring his partner. @Kain the Insane

He'd picked up a bit of extra size when he had gotten hard. Other than just the primal stuff, she'd probably need to help him. But for now when there wasn't too much need for spicing up sex positions, he would do just fine. “I want to be inside you~...” Xander whispered, his voice carrying a bit of a flirty tone. However, it was a bit unclear if he simply was parroting it or if he really was being flirty. Grabbing her hips, he flipped her over, a bit too fast. Luckily the cot was soft. He checked on her to make sure she was okay before he got her on her hands and knees. His hands pinning down her's, his legs pressing in such a way that he pinned her legs before he sank his teeth into the back of her neck with a bite. He began to push in and made sure to be careful. He still had some sensibilities, and he wasn't going to do something stupid like thrust fully in and risk hurting her too badly or making comparisons to previous partners. No, instead, he inched his way into her before he began to thrust into her roughly. A medium pace for him, but it was about ad fast and rough as a normal human man would be able to go. Nainda smiled at his words. She hadn't really expected him to be much of a flirt anyway, so any hint of it was a pleasant surprise. She would have kissed him again, but she was flipped over onto the mattress without warning, so there really wasn't time for that. Her first reaction was surprise, quickly replaced with excitement. "It's alright," she assured when he checked on her. She moved easily, gladly cooperating with his efforts to position her and predicting them well enough. As he bit down on her neck, her fingers curled into the mattress, gripping anything she could. The anticipation had reached unbearable heights by the time he pressed into her, and her body adjusted easily. Even if it hadn't been a long time, this was easily more girth than she was used to, but she could thankfully still take it. The first thrust sent her body slightly forward, before she pushed back to take him deep and help make sure it didn't feel like he was just pushing her around on the mattress. "F-fuck," she breathed, closing her eyes as the initial discomfort shifted more toward pleasure. "Just like that..." She might want him to let loose more later on, but starting at a more familiar pace was better anyway. She just hoped this cot was sturdy enough, because otherwise someone would question what happened to the damn thing. @Kain the Insane

He sucked on the back of her neck some, keeping his body weight on her to keep her still. Even pressing her upper body down a bit. He kept st the familiar pace she was likely used to. His extra size and girth that he had over her previous partner might make it different. But he wasn't just thrusting straight forward, at least, at first. Now he was shifting his angles, hitting new places inside her before hitting her g-spot and moving on. This wasn't just animal instinct. Intelligence honing it allowed him to not only get his own pleasure, but her's as well. Not to mention it turned him on to know she enjoyed it. A part of his brain knew that if your partner didn't cum more than you did, then you didn't do well as a man. Or, that's what that animal part of him was letting him know. After all, a natural competitiveness for a mate was built into their biology. Moving his lips a bit, he let out a low growl, barely able to keep his mouth from getting away from him to say anything that wouldn't be good. Not to mention that they didn't talk boundaries, so saying things like she was his bitch might not be something she enjoyed. @Al the Killer

She arched her back, bringing her head almost low enough to rest between her hands but careful not to bring her neck out of his reach. With his weight on her, she couldn't really go anywhere anymore, nor did she want to. She trusted him to put in the effort to please her, and to listen if she were to tell him something wasn't working. But right now, this was definitely working. She'd been wet enough from the moment he'd entered her that it made his job that much easier, too. The pleasure was building again, mingling with further arousal as she thought of what it might feel like when he finally finished inside of her. She was, for once, immensely grateful that she couldn't get pregnant unintentionally, since what she wanted most right now was to take what would otherwise be a massive risk over and over again, but she knew that sort of thing would have to wait until after the war. That didn't stop her body from pleading for more. "Harder~" she decided after a while, her need for him clear in her voice. @Kain the Insane

That thrill filled him once again. The thrill of domination, having found a powerful mate who could handle his own power. His speed and force began to increase, turning the sounds of sex from only filling the tent to being able to be heard out in the camp. Of it was obvious, as his hips and balls hit her ass and stomach faster and harder by the moment, growing louder and louder. She was depending on him, and that was just what he wanted. She was his mate. His bitch. She should depend on him. Beg for his younger wrap her legs around him, beg for him to make her eyes roll up into her head. This was just the animal part of him, but it didn't sound too bad to his logical mind either. Having a partner wasn't the worst thing in the world, especially if they fulfilled eachother's needs. Not to mention… Perhaps he'd feel for something again. Feel the need for love or affection… Or maybe this would only be lust from now on. Whatever the case, his sexual desire and need to.make her feel good drove him forward to scramble her insides and drive her crazy. @Al the Killer

He fulfilled her request, which was good since she was in no state to put it in the context of a coherent sentence. She dismissed how loud he was being as her extra sensitive hearing. Not that she really cared much about subtlety at this point. She could take whatever he was willing and able to give, physically speaking, and gladly did. A part of her did feel guilty for not playing a more active role. Then again, he was actively preventing her from doing so and seemed to be having just as great of a time. She closed her eyes, sinking into the pleasure. Once again, he was pushing her toward the heights of pleasure, and she could feel herself approaching the edge. @Kain the Insane

This was the most feeling he'd had in nearly a year. Ever since he'd transformed, he hadn't felt much pain or satisfaction or anything. But it seemed his enhanced physique was still capable of feeling one thing. Pleasure. He'd never felt pleasure like this. Sure he'd mssterbated before, but he didn't ever really feel pleasure from it. Just usually the end. And his size meant he couldn't really casually masterbate. No. As he felt her body tightening, as well as hearing the noises she'd devolved into making, he felt his own limit coming up. He tried to suppress it, wanting to get Nainda to orgasm one last time before he did. Although if she were still in the mood, it wasn't like he couldn't go again. He would happily do so, especially to relieve some stress and tension that he'd been feeling for a bit. @Al the Killer

Why had she gone for so long without this? Logically, she knew why - she'd had responsibilities that made meeting potential partners difficult, and a whole lot of the men she had encountered and worked with would only be interested in younger women or wealthy widows. But she'd definitely missed the pleasure that came with this. Missed feeling wanted... Loved, even, though it was too soon for that. But right now she wasn't as concerned with more than the sensations he was sending through her body. She tightened around him as she reached her climax again, unable to hold in a slightly louder moan than the others. She still hoped to feel him finish inside, before she would want at least a few minutes to rest. She didn't want to go all out their first time together, and she'd have other matters to attend to before sleeping tonight. @Kain the Insane

Xander pushed all the way inside her and he came, filling her up. His climax was surprising to say the least, it wad the most he had ever released. Not to mention it was the best. Pulling out of her, he slowly moved back, untangling herself from him before he sat down. “Oh, that was good… I hope I did well, it was my first time. And I hope I didn't let my instincts make me go too wild…” Xander said with a bit of a smile. His cock was still pretty hard, but he didn't expect that they'd be draining him dry, at least, not tonight. Plus, it would take considerably more effort. That reminded him. He licked his lips and tapped her back. “Can you still hear me…? I have another request for something you can do for me. If possible…” He said, a bit nervous. Honestly, he had a feeling his friend was going to KICK HIS ASS when she heard he was alive, but he hadn't been able to get word to her. Now he finally could, and maybe… They could work on getting the best Smith in the world on their side. Plus, he owed her an apology for everything. He'd explain how he'd felt and how it resulted in him being a bit childish, but he never should've stopped coming to see her, no matter what happened. @Al the Killer

Even after noticing his anatomy, she still found herself surprised by the sheer volume of it. She needed a moment to catch her breath, still coming down from the height of her pleasure. She listened to him talk, but didn't have it in her to reply just yet. She looked back over her shoulder, glad for what she could see of his expression. She wasn't sure she'd ever seen him smile. It suited him, and she couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth toward him. Maybe it was genuine affection, maybe it was just the chemicals in her brain at the moment. Time would tell. Then he tapped on her back and she changed position, stretching out so she was properly laying down, then rolling onto her back. "I can hear you," she assured him. "And I enjoyed myself, so I would say you did well." He wasn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, but that didn't matter if he was going to be with her anyway. She smiled and opened her arms, inviting him to join her in the bed. "As for your request... Can it wait? I just need a moment. Preferably with you." Because nothing was better than cuddling after satisfying sex. "I won't be as aggressive about it as I apparently was in my sleep." @Kain the Insane

Xander blinked, taming a second to understand. Oh, she wanted to hold him. With how rough she had it, he didn't expect it. He laid beside her and wrapped an arm around her. Rubbing her gently, he wasn't quite sure how to do it, so he held her with kindness and love. Let her enjoy the warmth. Maybe this would be good? Or she could walk him through what he would do. Or, perhaps more like what he SHOULD do. He had no idea of sex-ettiquette or romance, all he really knew was the basics of courtship. Although, to be fair, most people were told to wait until marriage, and yet he had sex with Nainda without being married to her. If she asked him to marry her, he might have to say no, or at the very least think things over a bit more. Yawning softly, he patted her back gently and closed his eyes to take a breath and relax slightly. Allow his body to come down from the highs of sex that he still did not yet realize that he was coasting on until this very moment. @Al the Killer

Nainda let out a satisfied sigh. Her expression portrayed a contentment she hadn't shown before, even when she'd smiled at him. So this was what it meant to feel safe again. Still, she sensed his hesitation. "This is good," she assured him. "As long as we're both comfortable, there isn't a wrong way to do this, darling." And by the gods, she was so comfy right now. She brought her head to rest against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart beating beneath. She still felt a bit full from earlier, but it wasn't unpleasant. More a reminder of what they'd done together. "That was... Unexpected," she commented after a moment. Definitely not the direction she'd expected her visit to his tent taking. She placed a hand on his arm, softly tracing the edges of his scales with her fingertips. Affectionately, even. "Not my best performance, I will admit... It has been a while." He'd seemed to enjoy it anyway though. They had plenty of time for more intercourse in the future. Just not actual childbearing... That would have to wait until after the war, and even then only with a more formalized commitment. She had no problem with sex outside of marriage, but she'd been born a bastard, herself, and wouldn't put a child of her own through the same experience. @Kain the Insane

“You did fine, Nainda. Or, at least, you did efficiently. I orgasmed, you orgasmed, what else matters? Anyway… I'm sorry that I have made this relationship go in this direction if you did not intend for it to. Thank you for satisfying the animal in me… Although it may rise again.” Xander spoke a bit matter of factly again, but his apology didn't seem empty and hollow like previous apologies did. This was filled with remorse or genuine feelings of being sorry. It matched the tone when he apologized about her family. However, after holding her for several minutes, he nodded and took a deep breath. “Okay, so… We take those tents apart. Have them stitched to the bottom to cover the ground. Have some of the guys and their wives clean thoroughly. We use leftover fabric to either section you off a portion of the tent or if there is enough. For a whole tent, you stay in that. Nainda shook her head. "There is more to pleasure than that," she said. "That isn't to say I didn't enjoy it - I did - just that there's more to it. And you don't have anything to apologize for." She kissed his cheek, moving her hand to play gently with his hair. "I only said it was unexpected, but that wasn't a complaint. And considering the fact that I already agreed not to sleep with anyone else for as long as we have... whatever this is between us... I'm fully prepared for it to 'rise again'." She grinned, a hint of flirty playfulness in her expression. "And again, and again..." She pressed her lips to his neck to tease him, before settling back down, getting comfortable once more in his arms. Then the topic changed after a few moments of silence, back to business matters. "That settles the matter of setting up an infirmary, I think. We can also repurpose the lost soldiers' cots for anyone who may take longer to recover." The soldiers would want to get back on their feet as soon as possible, of course, but they still had families who might suffer injuries or illness for other reasons, and some had wives who might become pregnant. She still rested her head against his chest as they talked. "One of the men in my squadron mentioned that you used to be a Paladin," she commented. "Do you still have any of your old magic from that?" @Kain the Insane

Blinking, Xander took a deep breath and he shrugged slightly. Clearing his throat, he he moved a hand and summoned an apple to his hand. He showed her a bruise, and he closed his eyes, focusing. His magic gathered in his hand, but the apple began to glow before exploding into nothing. “That's what's been happening since I got these new abilities. As far as I can tell, I can't heal anymore. Not that I don't want to… I've been trying to, but I just… Can't do anything but destroy.” He said, frowning and closing his eyes with that angry look returning before he sighed. Obviously it frustrated him that he had the abilities to help his people at one point, and now he just couldn't do it, even to save people. His frustration wasn't unfounded. “As for the Former Queen Consort and her contact. Have her please speak to the Royal Blacksmith… She may be a wife by force too. But… I need to let her know I'm alive and I need to talk to her. Perhaps having her meet with me or one of the soldiers in Disguise before escorting her back here.” @Al the Killer

Nainda hummed thoughtfully to herself as she watched. Plants and people were similar in some ways, but very different in others, and a hint of a theory was forming in her mind. He was already changing topic though, so she would let the thought stew, form more fully, and circle back to it later. A part of her mind picked up hints that something was off about his request, but she couldn't quite place her finger on why. "To turn her to our side?" she guessed. It was a practical request - a highly skilled blacksmith could prove invaluable to their work. "I will arrange that, then. One of the soldiers in disguise would be best, since the more human someone looks, the easier it will be to make them appear like an unrecognizable human being. That, and I cannot guarantee my magic's effects on you would last for as long as they would need to, given what you have told me. But yes, I can have her find out where she is, and arrange a meeting." She sat up and looked down at him. "Now, as for your previous attempts to heal... do you care about the fruits you have been using to test? Do you care what happens to a bruised apple? What Oath did you take as Paladin, and do you truly believe that you have broken it?" @Kain the Insane

“I took the Oath of Glory. To bring Glory to the peasants and commoners. To inspire them to seek to be more than they were. And… I don't know if I've broken it. I know I failed in my goal. It wasn't entirely my fault… The Upper Class and Nobles never intended to work with me or accept the idea that people of a lesser wealth could be more than they already were. I just… I know it's hopeless. Unless I took action. That I accepted the truth and became what I am… A monster. A monster who fights for those same people and seeks to uplift them, but a monster nonetheless.” Xander said, reaching a hand into the air. Magic gathered in his hand. It formed a dark sphere, and it held a deep, dark pressure. Power that would consume everything. He'd been dedicated to killing himself because he felt all he was good for was destruction. He'd lost his hope, his happiness, the majority of his kindness. He wished for a heart of ice that could protect those close to him, but destroy everyone else. He didn't have hope for the upper class or the Nobles. He was going to crush them and force them to obey his new order. She listened, deep in thought. The belief that he'd failed at everything he'd ever hoped for was understandable; she'd had the same thoughts about herself, so many times. But he remained on the same path, and he still followed the same principles as before, no matter how twisted they - and he - had become. Hopelessness was what seemed to be clouding the entire situation for him. It wasn't the strongest force in the world, though. "Hm..." She stood up and knelt by her discarded items, picking up her knife. "And your concern toward the fate of bruised fruit?" she asked, straightening up. "Judging from our earlier discussion, I could be considered your 'mate'. Regardless, I am certain that I am not an apple. I would like to think you consider me a little more valuable than that." As casually as if she were preparing a simple meal, she stabbed her blade through the palm of her hand without warning, suppressing her own healing magic as she pulled it out. The blood that oozed from the deep wound was darker than an ordinary human's or elf's, and less saturated in its redness. She held her injured hand out toward him, palm up. "Try again, on an almost-human subject." It was a risk, she knew; if her estimation that he could heal another person if he had sufficient motivation was wrong, she could end up losing a hand, which was a little more than she could regenerate on her own. Then again, he could just refuse to take that kind of risk with her, which was flattering in its own way, but certainly disappointing when it came to testing a hypothesis. @Kain the Insane (Ignore the extra ping, just fixing a typo.) “Wait, what- WHY!?” Xander shot up and grabbed her hand. Yanking the knife before throwing it onto/into the ground. It impaled itself hilt deep in the earth. He grabbed her hand and closed his eyes. Focusing, he tried to heal her. Focusing with all his might on trying to repair her hand. At first the cut began to close. However, as he did so, the skin came back looking… Odd. It was much… Thicker than it should've been and the blood coming from the cut, for a moment, had begun to POUR out, as if it was hemorrhaging. His magic caused the regeneration of the cells, however, it seemed to have been hyper charged by his new condition, regenerating TOO many of those cells. The apple may not have been directly destroyed by his magic, instead having its cells multiply, but not the energy it could consume. So it simply withered to nothingness. Or maybe his magic just went haywire and killed it because he didn't care about it. @Al the Killer

Nainda couldn't see the subtle differences as the cut closed, but she could feel them, given her own attunement to flesh magic. An excess of power, of course. It was such a simple explanation, especially when he had expressed earlier concerns about struggling to control his new power. Perhaps it was not due to the type, but the amount. "To confirm that I was right," she explained. "Open your eyes, darling." She would be able to fix it with her own magic, but she held back from doing so for now so that he could see that he had sort of healed. "The problem isn't that you can only destroy. It's that you have yet to learn how to hold back your magic. It can be remedied with practice and patience. If you would like, we can work on it if we find downtime to do so tomorrow." She picked her head up to kiss his forehead, as though this was nothing unusual at all. "And I'm sorry if I startled you." A bell sounded from outside of the tent. "General?" One of the soldiers spoke on the other side, sounding somewhat hesitant. "Have, uh... have you seen the Wraith?" His tone communicated the fact that he had a pretty good idea of where she was, but didn't want to mention what he'd heard. "I was told to see her for a bandage change." She looked toward the door, remembering that she likely had several patients to attend to right now, then down at herself, remembering that she was still entirely nude. Damn. She scrambled to get dressed, ignoring her own slightly disheveled appearance, the way more of her hair was falling from its bun now, and the black markings her lips had left on Xander's face. @Kain the Insane

Xander pulled on his armor quickly to at least have a helmet covering his face. Walking out, he nodded. “The Wraith is coming. Meet her in her temporary residence.” He said, keeping his voice strong and neutral. He then left, acting as if nothing had happened, to gather the young men. He managed to get them all together again and ordered them to take some of the fallen tent and cots and bring them to the Prisoner's holding area. Once inside, lay down the fabric of the tens to see how much would be needed to cover the ground. Then to start cutting the fabric into proper shapes. They scrambled to do so as Xander continued to play it cool. Honestly, he wondered if Nainda would be upset. Not that he was bringing Liz here to have sex or something. He doubted Elizabeth loved him. After all, she'd been able to do the impossible and actually rise up in life. She'd always been tomboyish, despite how beautiful and sexual her appearance ended up becoming. He'd once seen her swing around and throw a grown man out of a window. When she was 16. That had certainly turned him on in some untold ways. But, he always known he wasn't good enough for her. And every time she'd lean on him a bit and tell him she was waiting for the right guy, he would always reassure himself that he would become that guy! Now… He wanted to apologize to her. And hope that she didn't hate him for everything that had happened. @Al the Killer

Nainda did take a moment to wipe her face entirely clean as her healing magic kicked back in, destroying the excess cells and patching up enough to smooth over the skin. She was quick enough with it, letting her hair down entirely instead of bothering to try and wrangle it back into place. There were plenty of explanations for having it down that didn't involve learning that the General liked to fuck like a dog. Even though that soldier had definitely sounded like he knew what they'd been up to. Damn, had they been loud after all? She pushed those doubts aside and walked out, managing to play it cool just as well. Since the others were working in the tent, she brought her supplies just outside of it so they could get the renovations finished, tending to those who needed care one at a time. The last one was not a soldier who had been involved in the battle, but a soldier's son, who had the most grim expression a five-year-old could possibly make as he pulled of one leg of his breeches to reveal a scraped knee. "I fell on a rock and Da said I'll be okay, but Ma wants me to come here anyway," he said, adorably serious. "It really hurts though..." "It is meant to," Nainda assured him, preparing a blend of herbs for topical numbing and preventing infection with her mortar and pestle. "That's how your body tells you it needs to be fixed. Even the mightiest of warriors can be felled by the smallest of wounds; your mother is a smart woman." She wiped the wound clean and applied the ointment, followed by a fresh bandage. "There you go," she said, patting the boy's head. "Now go on, brave little one. And be careful around those rocks." She smiled as she watched him nod and run off back to his family's tent. @Kain the Insane

The young soldiers came in and began working. Measuring the floor before using their Daggers to cut the cloth. They began to sew the cloth to the bottom of the tent to guarantee that it was as clean as possible. Once they finishing creating a floor for the tent, they turned to Nainda and nodded. “Miss Wraith, what do we do now? Do you need us for something else? We can help clean if we need to.” They all nodded to each other. After all, they'd been told to assist her in whatever way that she needed them too. So, they awaited her orders as to what they should do to provide the help. They gave her a couple of looks, as they had heard her earlier, but not only was SHE scary, but General Xander was scary. And if she really was his woman, he could practically rip them in half without breaking much of a sweat if he truly wanted to. So, why tempt their general to kill them than just not be young perverts like they usually felt the need to be. Especially since teasing others was just so much fun. @Al the Killer

Nainda ignored the looks they gave her, because honestly? She was used to it by now. People talked about things they had no real clue about, in the most irritating ways. Moreover, people tended to make assumptions when they heard that she'd served in a combat regiment as the only woman, or when they heard that she hadn't been intimate with any of the soldiers and had had numerous private meetings with the king's wives as a midwife, the details of which had remained confidential even from the King himself. But regardless of any attraction to a couple of her fellow soldiers, or one or two of her patients in the palace, she had always kept things professional. Until Xander. But she remained calm now, nonetheless. "Have you already cleaned the floor itself? If so, I could use some help with moving the furniture inside." She closed her herb chest, stood upright, and walked over to pick up one of the collected cots with ease. "I want the spacing and angles to be consistent, with enough room in-between for me to work. Keep a safe amount of space between the beds and the cauldron, to minimize fire hazards." @Kain the Insane

With her instruction, they set up the cots and placed the cauldrons. Making Them as symmetrical as possible, also carefully aligning them with her help. They did pretty well, especially since they followed her orders exactly. After that, they got her section of the tent ready and made. She'd have a private room still, just not quite as big. Xander was in his tent now, thinking about what he would do. Contacting Liz was a step, but he'd have to pick out an experienced Soldier to get in, meet her, and spread word of the resistance and that the country could be free. They didn't have to be slaves of the Caste system anymore, they could rise up and fight for a good cause. A better world for everyone to live in soon enough. Even a private room was more than she was used to, but she wasn't about to ask to be treated with less consideration than everyone else, so she accepted it. "Good work," she said. "You can all go to your own tents now." She watched them leave, before turning her attention toward the tent. It looked far better now, and less empty. She had one last task before she could sleep, so she stepped into her private room and picked up the stone she used to contact Rochelle with. It activated as she picked up, and she waited for a response. Nainda! How did your discussion with the General go? Rochelle asked. Nainda thought back to their 'discussion' and smiled a bit to herself, careful not to let any of those details slip through to the other side of their communique. It went really well. He agreed that your children will be kept alive unless they leave us with no other choice. He did have one additional request. Are you aware of the Royal Blacksmith? Elizabeth now, I think, Rochelle said. Yes, she is well-known for her work, and has a forge in the castle. My son actually proposed to her, but she refused, in order to focus more on her work. Of course he couldn't have forced her; not if he wanted her to continue providing supplies for his armies. From what I've been told, he wasn't the only one. Oh. OH. The connection finally formed in Nainda's mind. I see. Can you have your contact get in touch with us? We are still working out the details, but would like to arrange a meeting in the future. I will pass it on, Rochelle said. We will talk tomorrow? We will. Nainda cut the connection, then walked out to approach Xander's tent. @Kain the Insane

Xander placed his hand on his leg and took a deep breath. Wondering what could've been was never something he had considered. Perhaps the pain of not realizing what was important would forever stick with him. And yet, he already went through with insane pain. Wondering would never fix anything, it would only mean he dwelt in the past, and that was something he simply couldn't do. Especially since it could make this much harder. So, as Nainda walked in, he opened his eyes and smiled softly. “Hello. Is… Everything alright? I would hope so.” He nodded, and he just looked a bit tired. Moreso mentally, as he didn't need to physically sleep or anything like that. He took off his helmet, revealing her lipstick on his face still and he took a long breath in. She approached him more directly, adjusting her sleeve. "Should I be glad that you decided to keep the marks I left on you, or do you want me to wipe them away for you?" she asked, somewhat teasing. Her expression shifted slightly, growing a bit more serious. "Now, your request. You had not mentioned that the royal blacksmith was your first love." Her tone was not accusatory by any means. She was prone to overthinking, she knew, but it did seem fair to be somewhat wary. "Is this meeting still only for strategic purposes?" Of course, she'd gone through with it anyway, even when the doubt had taken hold, and probably would have regardless of the answer, but she deserved to know if she was being sent on personal errands. “It is for Strategy, I promise. I… May have loved her once. And maybe she did me. But I doubt she still does if she ever did… But even then, we are… Complex. You and I, I mean. Having the best blacksmith in the Kingdom or the world on our side is a fantastic investment. Better equipment for our troops and us, as well as her building faults in her armor we could exploit to make defeating the foes more easily. I promise.” Xander placed a hand over his heart. He made sure to give her a serious look. After all, he didn't want her to think he had some bad intentions. He was intending on getting her on their side as well as apologizing to her. Two birds, one stone as it were. Sighing, he felt bad, shaking his head gently. “I'm sorry, I should've said something. Nainda didn't even question his comment about being complex. They were in the midst of revolution, he still didn't seem to have himself figured out emotionally, and he was technically her commanding officer, regardless of whether she saw him that way or not. Complex was putting it lightly. But that hardly seemed relevant right now. She believed him, of course. There was nothing to indicate he didn't mean every single word. "I understand, and agree with your logic. It is a reasonable strategic choice." She started wiping away some of the lipstick from his face with her sleeve. The colour matched, so it wasn't like she had to worry about ruining the cloth. "Just... fret over it a bit less, darling. I know you don't need to sleep, but you look tired anyway." Clearing his throat, he sighed gently and rubbed his fingers over his. Walking around he pressed his lips together. “Nainda, you… You can't resurrect people, right? I remember hearing stories of you creating an army of monsters to fight, but I'm assuming since there are no revived soldiers of ours running around, you can't really do that. Not that I'd ask you to… But… I am questioning what all we're willing to do to make sure we get more soldiers and have enough men to form more full scale attacks…” Xander said, his voice soft as he continued moving while pondering what all they could do. He'd prefer not to have her convert enemy soldiers into monsters, as they were trying to inspire people and not terrify them, but they would need to consider all of the options available. @Al the Killer

Nainda was about to invite him to join her for the night but, as he spoke of taking watch, decided against it. She watched him for a moment before taking a seat on the edge of the bed. "I already had power when my husband died, Xander," she said softly. "If resurrection was within my abilities, he would not still be gone. The stories have been exaggerated, as they often are. The army was not one I created - they were the same army I set out with, after I healed them. Those I heal are not bound to my will, either; they listen because I know what I am doing, but the most that has ever been created was a mild psychic link in some cases - sensing each other's presence, nothing more - and short-range telepathy, in my son's case, but only his, and he is capable of doing so with everyone, not only me." She considered for a moment. "I have been able to render people incapable of specific actions. I neutralized a Drassan spy during the war by causing his limbs to turn to stone every time he even thought about sending a letter to his handlers. I have rendered enemies incapable of wielding swords, or of crying out for help. Something like preventing someone from lying would be beyond my capacity, as it needs to be something specific with no room for ambiguity." She looked at him. "I am willing to do what is necessary; that is why I am here. As long as it is possible." @Kain the Insane

Xander nodded. He had a feeling that the tales were not accurate to her, but he wanted to check because he couldn't be entirely unsure. “Okay, I assumed not… Damn. It's too bad, but I can't blame you. If we want soldiers, we will need to do it the old fashioned way… Collecting them. That or MAKING them, but I doubt we would want to wait 18 years or get all the girls pregnant…” Xander chuckled softly with a shake of his head. Closing his eyes, he continued to pace around. Their hope was collecting more people from the commoner and Peasant population. Stretching a bit, he hummed softly. “Hmmm… Getting someone skilled with Wizardry could be good. Stone or Metal Golems could be a good filler for the army, plus I'm sure that we could make them extra formidable by enhancing them with armor plating, or weapons… I'm sure that with Elizabeth’s Help, we could even perhaps find a way to do it without a wizard through having her help sculpt it?” @Al the Killer

It took a moment for Nainda to realize that part of that was probably a joke, mostly because it had fallen flat. Oh well, they couldn't all be winners. She smiled politely anyway, before considering. "A necromancer could also be helpful, if we managed to find one," she said, though that would be unlikely, considering the fact that necromancy was very illegal in Locuria. "But more realistically, we should focus on recruitment. Not only awareness, but making sure people have the right information. When word gets out, the Crown and Inquisition will be ready to push back with propaganda. We can't let that weapon be solely in their hands." She tilted her head. "As for crafting constructs, I have seen it done before. We would have to work with her to find out what she needs." If Elizabeth actually wanted to work with them, anyway. Trying to recruit a royal blacksmith was risky. All it would take was the slightest hint of loyalty to her current employer and they'd get screwed over. "We might need a forge of our own for her if we went with that, though. She's currently working in the castle itself; any project that large would inevitably gain notice and raise questions." She leaned back, covering her mouth with one hand to stifle a yawn. It was getting late, and there would inevitably be more to do tomorrow. She stood up. "I should rest, though. I will stop by to talk more tomorrow morning. With tea, as promised." She looked toward the exit to the tent, then at him. "If you ever wanted a break, I'm sure there isn't a soul in the camp who wouldn't gladly accept a rotating two-hour watch during the night." They had enough people for it, certainly, and they all had full respect for Xander. She sighed. "You spend all of your time looking out for everyone else, but when was the last time anyone did the same for you?" @Kain the Insane

“A long time ago… A very long time ago.” Xander said softly with a sad look. Sighing softly though, he shook his head and he let her leave before he sat on his best. Crossing his legs carefully, he closed his eyes. Meditation. It had been a while since he'd done it. He focused on sharpening his sense of hearing, picking up some straggling conversations. Perhaps this was a good substitute. He rose up and left his tent before he floated up and moved forward. They had their camp’ back against a rockface, so there was really only one way that their foes could come from. Ahead of them. So, he moved towards the edge of camp and moved into the air before he began meditating. Resting his eyes and body while keeping his ears open and alert to any issues that might come. A sort of half sleep, or just some rest. It was helping with calming the mind down and fizzling out worry. @Al the Killer (edited)

A part of her had hoped he'd take the chance to join her. The rest knew better. She walked back to her tent and settled in for the night. Sleep came easily, but not for long by any means. The dreams were... Different this time. Why would she need some malicious spiritual hivemind to torment her when her own brain could do that just fine? Memories of her tryst with Xander brought with them a complex knot of emotions. Genuine care. The fear that nobody would care for her. The simultaneous feeling that she'd been used and that she wanted it again. Arousal, mostly, because the dream version of their encounter was still vivid. She woke up a few hours before dawn, her heart racing a bit as the feelings refused to disappear. It was a reminder of the other reason she'd abstained for so long; squashing down her most base instincts may have been for the best, in her case. She considered taking care of the arousal component of it herself, but with the self-hatred underlying it all, she already knew from experience she would only end up frustrated. She left her bed instead, pulling her cloak over her nightgown and putting her boots on before stepping outside. Some fresh air, maybe. She ignored Xander for now and walked out to a quiet area at the edge of the camp. To her surprise, she wasn't alone there. She tried to remember his name, the one she'd choked a little when she had first arrived... Ulrich, right? He'd been in her squadron, too. He looked back at her before she had a chance to walk in the opposite direction. "Can't sleep either?" he guessed. "Guess not." She didn't want to dwell on the topic, if only because she didn't want him picking up on the reason. "Look, I'm sorry about how we met. I just thought it would get everyone's attention." He laughed. "It really did," he agreed. "Water under the bridge, though. I can forgive anything a beautiful woman does."
2:25 AM
She narrowed her eyes for a moment. It could have been a sincere compliment, but from the way he was looking at her, more her body than her face... "Tear your eyes from me or you will have to forgive me for tearing them out," she said flatly. "I was just saying I wouldn't mind-" "You forget yourself, Ulrich," she said coldly, then considered the possibilities. Maybe she could take care of things... "I was just going to tell you to relieve Xander of guard duty until sunrise, since you seem perfectly awake and alert right now." She walked away to where Xander was, and Ulrich followed, ready to obey orders above anything else on his mind. @Kain the Insane

Xander had been focusing on all his ses of thoughts. Honestly, he had been thinking about Nainda a lot, but it was… Complicated. Worse, she wasn't drawing out his emotions. His desires were what came out, but that was wrong, wasn't it? Unless she wanted this to be casual? But then again, what did she want? This was war, and she had a husband and child before. Would he never be anymore than that? He already was having to check himself. She wasn't just a sexual object, she was more than that. An ally. Maybe even a friend. Someone who was kind to him and showed a belief in him that no one else had. So, as she and Ulrich approached, Xander slowly lowered to the ground and opened his eyes. Turning towards them, he looked more rested, perhaps a bit more focused than he was before. “Good Morning Nainda… Ulrich.” He nodded before standing and brushing himself off. Clearing off the snow on his armor and cloak. Looking towards Nainda, he nodded and stretched a bit. “Is it time for Morning Tea, or… Did you need to talk with me again?” @Al the Killer

Despite her doubts, Nainda couldn't help but smile as she noticed that Xander seemed... Better. More relaxed. It even sounded like he'd been looking forward to their morning tea together. "Xander." Ulrich looked between the two, picking up on their first-name basis but not commenting. Nainda continued. "It's a bit earlier than I was planning to have it, but I could make a couple of cups for us if you would like," she said. "Ulrich will be taking over the last couple of hours of the watch for you." She smiled warmly. "That is, if you wanted to join me? We can talk in your tent." Her tone was casual, clear that this wasn't a work conversation. Even seeing him had made her more relaxed. She hoped it wasn't a sign that she was developing feelings for him already, but wouldn't be surprised. She'd always been a romantic. The problem was that now, she was pretty sure she was also an unlovable monster doomed to outlive anyone who might care about her in the same way. @Kain the Insane (edited)

“Sure. Ulrich, I haven't heard anything all night, but nevertheless less, be careful. Stay near the bell in case someone managed to move up completely silently.” Xander said, nodding before he returned to his tent with Nainda. Looking toward her, he nodded and retrieved some hot water to start boiling for the tea. “So, what did you want to talk about?” Xander asked, heating the water using the magical Flames to get it in a nice, rolling bubble all throughout. It would be perfect for steeping the tea in. He calmly hummed and spoke to himself, his fingers moving as he tried to remain relaxed as he formed magic into his hand itself. Focusing on keeping a heat enough to make sure that the water stayed hot enough without anymore boiling off or the water itself becoming so hot it would burn the leaves they would be using to create the tea itself. He was doing alright at it so far, keeping the water at an even temperature. @Al the Killer

"Anything but the war. I know it's important, but I would also like to just... Spend time together without it consuming every moment. It won't do for either one of us to be tense all the time," Nainda answered, before remembering that they probably should have gone to her tent. "...Let me get some things first." She returned to her tent to prepare a large enough satchel of tea and mint, then brought it with two cups back to Xander's. "Thank you for taking care of the water. Anyway, I was wondering..." How would she word it without him taking it the wrong way or thinking she was too insecure? Oh no, what is she was too insecure? ... What an ironic concern. "Things are complex between us, as you said. I would like to find a way to make it less complex. Also, you can stop heating the water, that's perfect." She lowered the satchet into the water, then continued. "I understand that you struggle with processing your emotions, and you're not particularly experienced with romance. I don't fault you for either, but I've been thinking..." Too much. She'd been thinking too much. "I genuinely care about you, Xander. But if you only want this to be physical, I can't just commit to you completely and miss out on the possibility of having a loving relationship someday. If you want to try, though, to see if we can have something more than an occasional fuck when the mood strikes you... I would like that." A possible romantic relationship, even if it wasn't too serious at the start, sounded nice. She'd married young, so she had never really had the opportunity for that sort of thing. Even then, it hadn't been a proper courtship; they'd been childhood friends not allowed to court because he was born into nobility and she wasn't. "I'm not expecting much. We'd both make an effort, I'd be patient with you, and we would see how it goes." She looked down at the tea while it steeped. "No long term promises yet, and I won't pressure you into more than you're comfortable with." (edited)

“Huh…? You… What? I mean… You want to court me? I suppose… I wouldn't be opposed. My heart is… Dead. Mostly. I'll try my best, but I don't feel much of anything even at the best of times… But I have my own request too…” Xander took a breath. This was a delicate topic, and he wanted her to understand he meant no offense when he said it. However, he knew that he should still speak gently on such a topic. So, he took a long breath and took her hands. “I want you to promise me that… I'm not just a replacement for your past love. I'm not demanding you love me, obviously, but… I know that I could never replace that love. No matter how hard I tried. I'd let you down… And I would hurt myself trying to meet that wonderful standard.” Xander said, with all respect to her and her husband. That was why he was concerned about the way that he brought this up. He cared for her, and he didn't want to let her down. Courtship sounded a whole lot more chaste than what she had in mind for him, but aside from that his response was exactly what she'd hoped for, after tempering her expectations to reflect reality. She smiled, though it faded as she listened to his request. She hadn't even realized he might be worried about that. It was a fair request though. "Xander, I'm not looking for a replacement," she said. "We can't go back to the past, and I wouldn't demand that you try to be another person. Besides, if Nicaus had lived, I... I don't think he would have liked who I became. It's for the best that you're not him." She squeezed his hands gently, reassuringly. "You don't have to be anyone other than Xander, and I wouldn't have asked for a relationship if I wasn't ready to move on from the past." Aside from the whole revenge thing. That was still something she very much wanted to do. Reluctantly, she let go of his hands so that she could pour the tea for the two of them. "It's mint instead of berry this time. I thought it best to vary the flavours." She held one out to him. The mint was a bit calming, which was good because a part of her had expected that conversation to go a whole lot worse than it had. "I'm glad you agreed, or else I would have sounded foolish for what I told Ulrich," she commented, thinking back. Threatening him may have been an overreaction in hindsight, but she'd panicked and the words had just slipped out. Oh well. @Kain the Insane

Shaking his head, he sighed and he took a sip. Nodding slightly, he cleared his throat gently. This was nice. It awoke distant memories into his past. Sure his parents weren't perfect, but they'd always done their best. “This… My parents once brewed their own mead. We could only ever afford it once… I remember they put chocolate shavings and mint inside. The mixture… Was very nice. This… Reminds me of that a bit…” He spoke softly, looking down at his reflection before he shook his head. Licking his lips, he wasn't quite sure of what he wanted to say. Or, well, he knew, but thinking about his words wasn't very easy. “You… Can't go living to please everyone. I think if you dwell on it, you'll only remember them in their strictest. They were human. They could change and understand… My parents… Your husband and child. I'm sure that they would still love you, even now.” @Al the Killer

Nainda listened to his story. It was nice, hearing him open up like this. From his hesitation, she could tell he hadn't really talked about this sort of thing to anyone in a long time. And she'd keep in mind that he seemed to like the mint. Chocolate too, if they could get a hold of it, but that sort of thing generally had to be imported from distant locales. Traveling merchants brought it by the cities often, in warmer months, but it wouldn't be easy to get a hold of now. Then there was the advice... She was silent at first, reflecting on them as she sipped her tea. "I will keep that in mind," she said softly, though she knew she was a different person from who she had been. Maybe she hadn't defeated fate. Maybe that innocent, devout young woman who Nicaus had loved had died on the day she made her pact with Arrath, and what stood in her place was a murderer, a sadist, a ghost who made monsters of men. But the attempt to reassure her was nice. "Thank you." She sat on the bed again, gesturing for Xander to join her. "I know you don't sleep, but you do seem more well rested now than before," she said. "I'm glad. You deserve to relax sometimes, however you manage that." @Kain the Insane

“Oh, I tried meditation. Just closing my eyes and sharpening my hearing. Focusing solely on my sense of hearing while I think about things. That's how I did it… Mostly. I've had a bit of practice with meditating before.” Xander shrugged and drank some more tea with a tip of his hands and a long breath in. Setting it down, he shrugged his shoulders slightly. Honestly he couldn't think of anything else to talk about BUT the war. It had been his whole life up until about now-ish. He began to pace a little bit, his usual habit when he was thinking about and processing things. It wasn't perfect, but it helped him to not just sit still and stare off into nowhere. “Okay… Um… Hm… How… Are you today…?” Was all Xander could think to ask. After pondering for several minutes of silence, he could just tbarely ask about how she was doing today. That was all his mind could come up with for the moment. @Al the Killer

He was struggling, she could tell, but still managing. She'd let him have his moment of contemplation, sipping her tea and sitting in what felt to her like companionable silence, until he asked. "That's a good question to ask your partner, so don't worry; it shows you care how they are doing." As long as it wasn't asked the same way someone would say it to a stranger, at least. "The day has yet to quite start, so it is hard to say, but I suppose I am alright now." Their conversation had soothed half of what she'd woken up feeling, but the other half still burned, the need less immediate but still under the surface, especially in his presence. And especially while she was in the bed where that rather fond memory had taken place. "I will admit, I didn't sleep well. That is normal for me - unless I have expended all of my energy, I usually don't need much - but it was... different this time. Better in some ways, even." @Kain the Insane

“I suppose the proper question was to ask you how your night was. But… I’m happy to hear you slept better, I suppose. Good dreams hopefully.” Xander said, pulling out a pipe. He retrieved some leftover tea leaves and he gently lit it before setting the pipe back in its position. It would make the tent smell like mint… Or burning leaves. But Xander’s senses didn’t mind it. “Hmmm… Uh… Have you… Ever been nearly murdered before…?” Xander asks, unsure of what else to say. He couldn’t exactly think of good questions, so instead he just tried to see what they had in common… In perhaps the absolute worst way possible. He’d been pushed into a hole before, he always knew he hadn’t come back but with all the quills in the ink bottle. He had a couple of sharp rocks in there, and a Hole in the bottom of the bottle. Not enough to affect his combat or his command too much, but he definitely had lost a solid portion of his general awareness. Nainda looked over at him. "In some ways, you seem to have a tendency to cause them," she said when he mentioned good dreams. She'd had seduction in mind when she'd sought him out, but that didn't seem to be the mood right now, and it was nice to get to know each other outside of strategic planning. So she let it go. It could wait for later, when the opportunity presented itself. For now, they would treat this as courtship instead, which was basically what she'd asked for. She didn't mind the burning smell from his pipe, though it was unlikely to have much effect other than just creating smoke. "Many times," she answered, not minding the odd question. Seeking common ground, she supposed. "Warlock hunting is technically illegal, but it isn't enforced; that has been a prevailing problem, both in and outside of Locuria. The Inquisition also tried to torture me after what happened with Rochelle, until I... Let's say reminded them how my magic works." She had killed multiple inquisitors before they'd managed to restrain her. "I suppose I don't need to ask if anyone has ever tried to murder you, given what you have already told me... Do you remember your first kill, though? I apologize if it is too grim of a topic, but it seems worth talking about if we're discussing shared experiences." @Kain the Insane

Xander blinked and he began to rub his chin gently. When had it been? If had been a while ago for monsters… Only recently for humans. “I killed my first monster 6 years ago. A Goblin in the midst of attempting to… Assault someone. I killed it. Stabbed it in the face. I remember thinking that I had to do so. But them, when I was coming out from that hellhole,.I found a guard. He saw me and began to attempt to call for others. I… Shoved my fingers into his jugular and ripped it out. I remember thinking, ‘That… Was so easy. Why was that so easy?’ Taking a life shouldn't be so cavalier. I think that's what woke me up to the fact that… I couldn't feel much anymore…” Xander said. Obviously he was a monster. There was no question in his voice, no hesitation, no regret. He just spoke matter-of-factly about the fact that he ripped a man's throat out. @Al the Killer

Nainda stood up and walked over to him as she listened. "In both cases, you did what you had to do," she commented, resting a hand on his shoulder. "I... don't draw much of a line between humans and monsters, so perhaps I am biased in saying that killing one is no worse than the other; it is the circumstances that matter. I know that doesn't change anything, but you should at least know I don't fault you for it." She looked off into the middle distance, thinking back to her own. "Mine was actually a monster hunter. My son was still young, and someone had seen him playing outside, as humans still do all the time, and jumped to conclusions about the 'monster' who was 'terrorizing' the village. It was a common mistake, given the fact that he was born as a result of my healing magic, which... well, you know how that goes. The difference here was that, instead of avoiding him, this person contacted an Adventurer who was too overzealous to question the circumstances. She arrived at our home, ready to kill on sight. I remember sensing the intent, telling my son to hide... I don't remember much about the kill itself. One moment I was inviting her inside, and the next I had a mouth full of blood and her neck was half torn off. Like when you killed the goblin, all I thought was that I had to do it. It was... easy, just pulling myself back together, cleaning up, and hiding the body away from my house, altering the corpse so it appeared she had simply died of a natural cause." Her expression changed, somewhat saddened. "But Alfred, my son, was... I think he saw or heard at least part of it. He didn't look at me the same for weeks. That was harder than the kill itself." @Kain the Insane

“It's only natural… I didn't look at myself the same either. I still can't. And for me, Monsters… The ones that can only hurt and kill are like animals. That's all they do. They attack viciously, savagely, looking to eat or occasionally… To violate. More intelligent monsters, it's more clear cut. But… Whatever the case… What I did wasn't right. Perhaps if I had stopped to think, I would've tried to tell him I meant no harm. I wasn't some zombie. Instead… I robbed him of that choice. Because at the very least, he hadn't made the same choices the soldiers have.” Xander said, looking down at his hands, envisioning the blood there. He wasn't going to say it outloud, but he knew the truth of the matter. The blood he shed would never dry. It would stain his hands for all time. Until the moment he died. Whatever that would entail. Clearing his throat, he looked away from his hands and purged that thought from his mind. No point in obsessing right now. It would only eat away at his consciousness. “You… Let me ask you this. If I ever became a threat. Ever… Went full animal or something like that… Would you be willing to… Put me down?” @Al the Killer

In her own experience, Nainda wasn't sure the guard could have been convinced, or that it was a risk worth taking to try, but that was all in the past now. His guilt was noble, in a way. She'd only felt the same about those she had killed when she'd seen the reactions of people she cared about... Then his question caught her off-guard. She looked at him, silent in shock right now. Would she even be able to? Emotionally or practically? He'd already said he couldn't be killed by weapons. Then again, she didn't use weapons often; she used magic, through direct physical contact. If she got close enough, it might be objectively possible, but would she be able to do it? "I..." She looked down, needing a moment to think about it. Once she had, she took one of his hands in hers and pressed her lips to the knuckles, a tender expression of affection, or a show that she didn't fear the blood on his hands. "It is... not an easy decision. I would do everything within my power to try to bring you back to sense, to help you carry on as the man I know you to be. I do not let go easily, Xander; I am stubborn, and those I care about don't leave my grasp without claw marks. You interpreted my name through its literal translation as 'nothing', but in spirit, it means 'grief', and there is a reason I accept it now." She closed her eyes, bringing her cheek to rest against his hand. "But back to your question, I would also know that, if you can't be brought back, the Xander I know wouldn't want to go on like that. I would agonize over the decision, I could never say I was willing to put you down. But if it was the only solution, I would do it." Xander nodded and shook his head after with a bit of a smile. Perhaps to help relieve the stress he may have caused her. “Well, I would hope you wouldn't kill me immediately if I seemed Bestial. Although… If you couldn't kill me… Then feel free to throw me back into the hole. Without my brain and strategy, I never would've been able to leave… And make sure no one else knows about how I became like this. Otherwise you might have more super powered jackasses running around…” Xander said before he gently gave her own knuckles some kisses. His lips were cold, although they also had a weird warmth to them. He wasn't exactly human anymore, after all. His internal temperature was warm, but his skin was cold. Perhaps when he was aroused it heated up with the increase in heart beat. Or simply because Xander wasn't under cover, he'd just been getting snowed on all night long. Nodding, Xander took a deep breath and gently sighed before he leaned his head to the side. “I promise the same to you… If you ever were to do something. Nainda couldn't help but smile back just a bit, every time he did. Never mind that they were discussing circumstances in which one may need to kill the other. "From the memories I've seen, when Arrath's warlocks eventually do lose themselves - and unless they're killed early, it does seem to be an inevitability sooner or later - they are more dangerous to themselves than to anyone else, so I do not think you would need to," she admitted. "I appreciate it though." She considered his promise about not eating her, and the double entendre at the end. "You don't want me inside you. So... you're saying the tentacles are to remain incorporeal during sex?" she joked to lighten the mood, and because it seemed he was making a joke, too. She was planning to avoid transforming during their time alone together anyway. She let go of his hand to cup his face between both of yours. "I only hope that we will both be able to retain our presence of mind for a long time." She closed her eyes and kissed his lips. It was different than it had been during their previous intimacy. Soft, sweet, unhurried. Care and concern for him, with no ulterior motive. She didn't really mind the slight coolness of his skin, either. His hands massaged her ass a bit as he moved his lips back. “Unironically, yeah… And I'll keep the Claws away too. Mostly because I don't want to make you bleed or something.” He said,.moving a hand to show her that he had reshaped his nails to be normal once again. No butt stabbings for her, or inside stabbings either. Pain was meant to be sparing in sex, and he wasn't going to go actively out of his way to hurt her like that at least. Clearing his throat, he tilted his head. “So, how about you clarify why the dreams were… Better… If you would~... Nainda dear~...” Xander spoke, his tone flirty, but perhaps a little more teasing than that. He wanted to see what she was thinking about that made her sleeping so much better than it was. @Al the Killer

Nainda had already put any further plans than kissing him out of her mind when they'd reached the topic of killing each other if they lost control. Then he squeezed her ass and the thoughts came running back to her. She didn't mind if he drew blood externally, but she wasn't about to insist on it, so she nodded in agreement to his comments. Her arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer to her until her chest was pressed to his as she contemplated the answer. She wasn't about to bring up the torment her patron normally put her through, because that would ruin the tone when he was finally flirting with her. Instead, she teased him back. "For one, darling, you were in them," she said softly. She lowered her head to kiss the side of his neck. "Certain memories make it a challenge to sleep. All I could think of is how I want to make you feel cherished, to remind you of what it means to have someone care deeply for you." She whispered the next words in his ear, and her tone shifted from sweet to seductive. "And to ride that perfect cock of yours until I'm so full of your seed I can hardly move." @Kain the Insane

His logical side won out for a moment, as he quietly said, “W-well… That seems… Counterproductive since we need you…” Before his recessive emotions kocked his logic on the side of the head and he whispered. “Shouldn't take too long though~ My stamina doesn't run out, and I can keep pumping you full of cum until eve. Your contraceptive magic can't do anything about it~...” His voice shifted from a bit of a nervous, cool voice to a more sexy voice. This time it sounded more genuine rather than him attempting to force it. He picked her up and put her onto his mattress and shrugged his clothes off. If she wanted to take charge, she could, but he was feeling that lust rearing up. Plus her words from last time. So, he began to grope her tits and he leaned down. He was a s about to say something when his logical side stopped him. No breast milk jokes, especially learning that her son was dead. That would instantly shoot the mood in the back of the head with a point-blank crossbow shot. Instead, he groped her tits to help get her blood pumping and warm up for the main event, as she'd said he should've last time. @Al the Killer

Nainda sat on the mattress for a moment to watch the show he was giving her. But once he was ready to join her, she set a hand on his shoulder and whispered. "Sit down. Relax." She didn't mind the extra attention, of course. She just wanted to shower him in years worth of missed affection first, to make him understand that he was more than the monster he believed himself to be. Once he was ready, she stood up to remove her clothing. It only seemed fair, since he'd undressed before she'd had the chance to take his clothes off for him. She settled back down, straddling his lap if he'd listened to her, but made sure not to let him inside yet. Instead, she kissed his neck, trailing her hand down his chest. "Has anyone told you how lovely you are~?" she asked. "Not only physically, though you are certainly a paragon in that sense." She paused and licked the palm of her hand to get it wet before using it to stroke his cock. She wanted to please him, not torment him with an excess of friction. "You deserve all the pleasure in the world. And of course, I'm not one to give you anything less than you deserve~" In any other context, those words from someone with her vengeful nature might have been interpreted as a threat. Not this time, though; it was definitely a promise of good things to cum. @Kain the Insane (edited)

Xander hadn't quite expected her to take charge like she did. Pushing him down, stroking his cock, and whispering words into his ear. His heart began to pound and he felt something he hadn't expected. Embarrassment. Lust had come before, and perhaps a bit of uncomfortableness, but he hadn't expected to feel like butterflies were in his stomach, or that the sun was shining one concentrated ray down on him while he was told to masterbate in front of his whole army. Her words definitely made him feel weird. “What… Are you talking about…? Lovely…? And you don't mean physically…?” His voice was soft, a bit breathy, as he was making noises from how much he was enjoying her masterbation of him. Fuck, being so close to those huge pale tits made him want to touch them or see them around his cock. Damn. He didn't mind her taking charge, but it felt a bit embarrassing to be an Uber powerful being being made to be powerless to do anything but lay there. Maybe this was fragile Masculinity? He'd have to ask someone about it later. @Al the Killer

Gods, he was cute when he was helpless and flustered. She didn't say that out loud, since he already seemed embarrassed enough and she didn't want to push the limits like that. Especially not this early in their relationship. She concentrated her hand near the head of his member for a moment, where he would be more sensitive, circling around the tip with her thumb as she answered his question. "I don't only mean physically, Darling. You are still incredibly handsome." Her tone was different from before. Seductive, but also more confident. The care remained. She clearly knew what she was doing, and chose to do it for him alone. "Your soul is like none other I've seen. You care so deeply for others, yet you don't even see how wonderful you are." She wanted to show him, though, in a way he would understand. She trailed kisses down his neck, punctuating each word of the next sentence with one. "You. Deserve. This." At the end of her sentence, she lifted her head to nibble playfully at his collarbone. She trusted him to ask her to stop if it became too much; in any healthy encounter, the 'dominant' partner's control was a facade - right now, he had the real power. It just... Didn't quite feel that way, from the rush each of those little noises gave her. "I want to taste you," she said, looking down at his massive cock again. Partially making sure he was fine with it, partially letting him know not to move while she left his lap. She moved the pillow from the cot to the floor and knelt in front of him. @Kain the Insane

Xander licked his lips and he took a deep breath. Sitting up, he wanted to look her in the eyes while she sucked him off. Couldn't quite do that from a fully laid back position. Plus, he couldn't help but lick his lips. “Do you care… About people seeing us together…? Because I want to make your dream come true~ Even if it takes the whole day~ Cumming inside you over and over again until I've emptied every last drop~ Leave the both of us as exhausted as we can be~ Because I really… Really… Think you deserve that pleasure too~” Xander purred, his voice carrying that sexual tone, and his eyes more daring and playful than they ever were before. Deep down he wanted to grope her tons. He wanted the soldiers to see and know that she was his and he was her's. His heart wanted to open up to the love she was offering him. Even if it terrified him more than anything else. Because being an unkillable monster badass was easy. Opening his heart again after it had been destroyed so thoroughly? That wasn't easy. She looked up at him as she listened. It was tempting. Impractical, there was work to be done even if there wasn't a battle planned for today, but tempting nonetheless. "They already know, I think." She looked up at him as she spoke, trailing a hand up his thigh before taking hold of his dick once more, holding it in place. "I don't mind at all~ I'm proud to be your partner." Her eyes locked with his as she closed her lips around his cock. She took her time easing him into her mouth and, more practically speaking, throat. Her body adjusted quickly and easily, but she didn't want to go too fast. Much more fun to tease him. At least he seemed more comfortable now, as she swallowed him all the way to the base. Her tongue pressed against his member, working along its length. @Kain the Insane

Xander hid the urge to force her head down. It wasn't his own, nut the more Bestial side of him. That asshole wasn't the most romantic, he was just interested in what happened at the end of it all. No no. Instead, he gripped his mattress and moaned, feeling the warmth of her mouth. He was dedicated now to making her dream come true. Maybe it wasn't practical, but it was what he wanted to do right now, at this moment. Perhaps that was all that mattered in the long run. But he knew he might have to give orders and she may have to use magic. That was why he was asking if she minded people knowing. People SEEING the two of them having crazy passionate sex with one another without a care in the world for anything but living in the moment. His moans are all the encouragement she needed, really. She could feel her own need unfolding deep within, but she was patient and he'd said enough about his stamina that she wanted to put it to the test. She gripped his hips and bobbed her head, keeping him deep in her throat for a moment longer before pulling off. "Delicious, just as I thought~" She smiled up at him seductively, before lowering her head again. Not wanting to leave anything that might give him pleasure neglected, she teased at his balls with her lips and tongue for a moment, sucking briefly before extending her tongue to wrap halfway around his cock. Her lips returned to the tip again, but the tongue itself had more dexterity now. @Kain the Insane

Her tongue’s movement was definitely making his blood pump, and he moaned some more. He had to resist the urge to grab her and use his mouth on her own nether regions. “Fuck, I… Can't hold on~... I… Really want to return the favor~... I want to make you feel really good…” Xander pressed his lips together. Fuck, that dominance he desired was certainly fighting, but he also wanted her to use her mouth. To try her tits. To let her take the lead, because her showing him hoe much she loved him made his heart feel full. Or, well, maybe not love. More like… Cared about? It's a bit of a weird feeling that he couldn't quite describe. Well, that sounded like a delightful idea. Still, she made him wait to return the favour. She was pretty sure he was too prideful to beg, but she wouldn't mind if he did that, either. She certainly didn't let up, making mental notes of each reaction he gave her, everything he seemed to like most. Sure she'd made her implications when she'd mentioned wanting to be filled with his cum, but she hadn't really specified that it all had to go in the same place. Swallowing the first load and then working her way up to what he would have described as the main event was fine with her, making sure he was fully pleased. Testing out just how much it would take to truly drain him. A part of her wondered if it was possible to fuck him so thoroughly he realized some hidden capacity for love he'd repressed all these years. But she had to be realistic; it would take more than that. This didn't seem like a bad start though. So she kept her mouth around his cock, picking up in both speed and pressure ever so slightly and not letting up until he either asked her to stop or came down her throat. @Kain the Insane

Xander shook his head, rubbing the back of it a bit and he grabbed the back of her head. Keeping it at the base, he gave her his first load, pumping her stomach, throat, and mouth full of his load. His cock was still rock hard, and he was still willing to fulfill her request of pumping her to the brim. He panted and sighed softly. “Damn that felt so fucking good~... Wow~... Fuck, I want to do so many different things to you~...” Xander said, leaning his head back. Honestly, she was probably the best person for him. He wouldn't just outlive her and have to watch her die. That was his worst nightmare. In fact, it contributed to why even after finding his way up from the underground caverns, he didn't find Elizabeth to tell her how he felt. She didn't need him to hold her in place, but she didn't mind either. It was a reasonable enough instinct. She still kept eye contact as she swallowed every last drop, watching his reactions. It seemed she'd literally taken his breath away. Good. Once he was finished, she took his hand to move it away from her head and pulled off, licking her lips in case anything had managed to escape. "Hm... Good. You will get to do all of them, Darling~" She placed a hand on his chest, giving a light, almost playful push. "...in due time. First..." She straightened up a bit. She'd seen him staring at her chest, and wanted him to experience more of what she could do to him. She lifted her breasts with both hands until they surrounded his erection. Fuck those tits were gigantic. What was this feeling? Oh good God, why was THAT rearing its ugly head. He was certainly a tits guy, but as he looked at them, he felt his mouth quiver. A piece of him wanted to suck on her nipples and call her a specific title that would refer to a parent. His logic was currently struggling with the animal instinct and lust. Calling her that out of nowhere certainly could and would ruin the mood. Not to mention the animal instinct was Amplifying the desire and his mommy issues. Instead, he reached down and grope her pale tits and he took a deep breath. “Oh fuck they're really big~... I've gotta be careful, otherwise I'll wanna hold and grope them all the time~...” He mumbled and licked his lips, enjoying his hands Sinking into them and feeling their warmth and the rush that it filled his body with at the moment. @Al the Killer

When he said it like that, she didn't want him to be careful. It was impractical, considering that he needed his soldiers to take him seriously as a General and she needed to be respected on her own merits in both combat and the healer's tent. But the idea of him looking at her with that level of desire at all times, plain for everyone to see... She couldn't deny it was exciting to imagine. "They are rather heavy, so I appreciate the help for now. What a gentleman~" she teased. She shifted her torso, making her breasts move in order to pump away at his member. "I'm just glad they're big enough for your cock." She bent her head down to give the tip a teasing lick. "I want to make you feel so good that you'll practically be begging for release again by the time I let it inside." Getting it in there wouldn't be a problem at this point. “I really don’t want to beg… That’s a bit embarrassing~ I wouldn’t make beg to cum, especially since you’re my partner~” Xander wasn’t going to guilt trip her. If she really had a kink for him begging, he might oblige, but he just wanted to let her know it was how she felt. But as she bounced her tits on his cock, their huge size allowing them to shape into the perfect cock-cozy, he couldn’t help but moan. He was feeling sensitive, and he knew that this time he would probably cum sooner than later. However, he was still going to hold back as much and as long as he could. So, he focused his thoughts on nasty, un-sexy things to keep his desires under control. His cock even began to soften a bit, but he wasn’t going to be thinking of disgusting things to keep his desire under control for much longer. The fact that it was beneath him was a major part of the appeal - she liked when her dominance actually felt like an accomplishment - but she didn't push the topic. They'd talk about limits in depth later, but for now, she accepted it was a straightforward no. "You don't have to, Darling," she assured him. But she still had to be able to time things so he'd finish inside of her mouth or vagina instead of all over the sheets. "Just let me know when you're close so we don't make a mess-" She stopped talking as she felt him growing softer. Fuck, had she done something wrong? So, after feeling her tits bounce more after several minutes, he clenched his teeth. “L-load number two is… Incoming~” He warned, just as he’d asked. However, he wasn’t intending on this being the end. Oh no no, he couldn’t make a promise like pumping her full of every last drop and not even keep that promise. She got to and straddled his lap again, placing a soft kiss on his neck. "Good," she whispered into his ear, deciding that would be enough until she knew how he'd feel about being called a good boy. No matter how tempted she was to find out by trying. She didn't want to risk killing the mood. She propped his member up with one hand to guide it gently into her waiting pussy, already soaking wet. Her mouth was still against his ear as she moaned. She couldn't risk taking her time, determined to at least get the tip in before he came. Oh well, he'd have to have it patched up or just flip it. His cock remained rock hard inside her, and his hand grabbed her hips, not moving her, but being prepared to help her down if she was in need of assistance. Xander's heart was pumping, and he enjoyed the compliment. She'd been the first girl in a while to.say anything nice about him. The only other… Well, he wasn't thinking of her right now. His heart was focused on Nainda. He looked into her eyes, and seeing her passion and care made him feel something else. A warmth in his stomach he hadn't quite felt or expected before. What was this? It was the sort of thing she'd heard men liked to be told, but in this case it helped that it was true. Her hips rocked to take him deeper. She'd be a little tighter around him than last time, since they hadn't really taken any prep time, but not so much that it was unpleasant for either of them. It helped that he'd provided a bit of extra lubrication to make the entire process easier. "You feel so good inside of me~" Once she had his dick all the way inside, she found her rhythm, grinding against him to get the most out of it, to make sure he hit her most sensitive spots. His fingers Sinking in and massaging the muscles there a bit. He made sure to pay attention to the noises she made to know what all she liked and what all she didn't like. Xander also began to thrust up a bit to meet her bounces to send spikes of pure pleasure to randomly shoot into her mind. Making sure not to have a pattern. He wanted her to feel the constant pleasure of her bouncing and occasional moments of heightened pleasure from him meeting those bounces. To say she would kill for him probably wouldn't have sounded very meaningful, given the fact that it was literally her job to do so. So she kept the words to herself, but the feeling remained. She kept up some effort to keep quiet, but he was making it a lot harder to do so. Her moans were more intense as he bit, with that clearly being a favourite of hers, but she loved everything he was doing. It was more than physical pleasure, though. In his arms, she felt... Cared for, in a way she'd really missed. She kept up her own rhythm, her breasts bouncing with each movement. Within a few minutes, she started to feel herself getting close, and her nails clawed at his back, careful not to break skin despite the fact that he didn't feel pain. "F-fuck..." Grabbing her waist, he bounces her a bit faster and moves his own hips to try and get her to cum. After all, his goal was to make her feel as amazing as he could. She may have taken charge, but he wasn't going to let her go unsatisfied from this tent. And he didn't care who knew that the two of them were together, he had needs and wasn't ashamed of her. Not to mention his men weren't ones to judge. They knew what it was like to be judged and held in contempt for things beyond one's control. Her arms tightened around him as she came around him. Her head came down to rest against his shoulder, but she didn't stop, riding him through her climax even as the feeling of him inside grew more intense with her increased sensitivity. "Don't stop," she sighed, more than happy to drain him dry like this. Or to go for however long as practically allowed, which she suspected would not be as long as they'd hoped. Nainda had never been called amazing and stupid at the same time before, but since reading minds was not among his abilities, she assumed he meant it solely as a compliment. As it was, now was not a time for too much thinking. Instead, she unwrapped her arms from around him so she could push him gently down. The new leverage would bring an opportunity, so she could begin to move her hips faster. Unlike with most humans she'd fought, she probably couldn't pin him down if he didn't want to allow it, but it was nice to pretend she had that sort of power. "Just... for a moment longer, love," she answered, closing her eyes to let herself feel the pleasure. Her pushing him down, he just sorta let it happen. He could've resisted, but that wasn't fun or anything. He closed his eyes and moaned, feeling her pussy tightening and her heated desire building. Xander knew his own would come to a crescendo. So, he grabbed her hands and squeezed them tightly as he moaned out and came inside of her. Pumping another thick load into her. His breaths were deep and he was definitely feeling more labored, but it was more a tough run sorta out-of-breath-ness rather than a "I just ran 20 miles with no water and I'm litterally dying and wheezing" sort of out of breath. @Al the Killer

This was turning out to be a hell of an endurance test, she had to admit, but she was glad to have finally met her match in Xander, regardless of his struggles with recognizing emotion. Her first husband had been a fine partner... before her pact had changed her. Then it had grown harder for him, as a human, to keep up with her, and simply having an affectionate, gentle lover had no longer satisfied her. Then she'd lost him, and no longer got anywhere near satisfying her instincts with another person. This fulfilled a need she'd ignored for too long. She moaned as he released inside of her, perhaps a bit louder than she'd intended. Every time she got around to thinking she was so full she couldn't take another load, she managed to be pleasantly surprised. Her own breathing was coming out harder now, but she didn't stop as she looked down at him. "Do you... need to take a break?" she asked between breaths. "Or keep at it?" I can do more with no break, but your needs are what are important.” Xander’s eyebrow raised as he rose and looked at her face to face. His lips met hers for a moment, not too deep a kiss, but surprisingly affectionate. His heart throbbed and pumped hard with desire and more. Perhaps it was her words earlier about how serious they were. Or her touches. But he… Wanted her to be happy. More than anything, he wanted her desires and hungers to be met and totally sated. Among other organs, she had to admit. She closed her eyes as their lips met, and her movements slowed for a brief moment, growing more gentle. If only because she was a bit distracted by the question. If she answered, would this end? No matter, he wanted to know, so she would give him the truth. "Yes," she admitted. "More than satisfied." Right now he sloppily sucked on her nipples and squeezed her breasts to his heart’s content while he curled his toes and focused on fucking her faster. Not trying to hurt her, but trying to push himself to do better than before. After all, if he was going to try and empty himself, he might as well make her feel amazing too. @Al the Killer

Nainda chuckled as he set her down on the mattress. "Tired and satisfied do not need to be the same thing, but perhaps I'll need to try harder to show you what that means?" she suggested, tilting her head back for him. Her body moved easily for him, in no small part because she was actively cooperating. The position he was going for was generally better for anal, and less comfortable for their current activities, but she found that lifting her hips and arching her back helped ease it. Maybe this would still test her endurance, after all. She reached her hands back overhead, grabbing whatever she could of the mattress to keep her arms out of his way. She closed her eyes, sinking into the pleasure. "Go as fast as you want," she encouraged, half-moaning the words out. "Hm... could you use a bit more tongue and tighten your lips, love?" The squeezes could also use a bit more technique, but she would focus on one thing at a time. As it was, the more he squeezed, the more an... oddly familiar sensation started to build, a sort of fullness she couldn't quite describe. @Kain the Insane

Xander nodded, focusing on what she said. Okay. He went full speed from the get-go, fuckint her full force. Not in a bone-crushing way, but not giving her ad much time as he did before when building up. Her words echoed in his head and he focused, suckling harder and rolled his tongue around and over her nipples more. His hands continuing their work with his mouth to draw out as much pleasure as he could. This was mating press, and even though he knew that she wasn't going to let herself get pregnant, he still fucked her as if he were her husband trying to put a baby in her belly. Closing his eyes, he didn't keep that intense eye contact, but instead was just enjoying and feeling the moment. Hearing the noises she made, feeling her reactions and lust. After all, Xander wasn't the best at emotions and such, but he wanted her to be as happy as she could be. Enjoying it as much as he could manage. @Al the Killer

Then she couldn't speak anymore, couldn't focus on anything more than the way pleasure rolled into pain and back again. She no longer had control over her volume - even biting down on her lower lip did little to suppress those moans and whimpers of pleasure. If he wanted further technical advice, she was too far gone to be much help. Most women likely would not have the physical capacity to take his full length and girth, particularly at the current speed and force, but she had enough pain tolerance and control over her own body that those limitations didn't bind her the same way. The part of her driven by instinct almost wanted to let him impregnate her, to breed her properly, but she held back from making that a reality. Her breaths grew ragged as she felt herself already drawn closer to the edge. Something leaked from the nipple he had his lips locked around, but she hardly even noticed. @Kain the Insane

Xander could feel her giving into the pleasure beneath him. Fully consumed by it. His tongue continued to roll and move in synchronicity with his own hip movements, although be began to change up his tongue movement to really breath in increase her enjoyment. However, with how feral she was becoming, she was feeding into that animal part of him, determined to pin her down and fuck her into submission. Her totally give him to him and his desire. Not to mention his emotions were growing and sparking, becoming larger and more intense by the moment. Xander's body began to change a bit, and he was lifting her lower half into the air a bit, slowly, to change the angles of his thrusts, but also to add some more strength and power to the thrusts themselves. @Al the Killer

The change wasn't immediately apparent, with the way her mind was currently occupied by the growing tension within. She could feel something was different, but paid it no mind. She was reaching the edge, unsure how much longer they could get away with this. Surely, they couldn't fuck the entire day away - practically speaking, even she had limits, not to mention the responsibility of a literal revolution in progress. But right now, nothing mattered more than this, their pleasure and desires mingling together. At the very least, she wanted to please the both of them one more time. Her breast continued to leak milk into his mouth, something she hadn't even realized she could still do. But she couldn't even dwell on that, at the change in angle drew more gasps and moans from her. "Just like that," she managed to breathe out, grateful for the help in keeping her hips at a reasonable height for him. She grasped the bedsheets in her hands, feeling herself draw closer and closer with each thrust. @Kain the Insane
