He was going to die. there was a burning pain in his side and he struggled to breathe as he let out shallow breaths. His hand gripped his side to try and staunch the blood that flowed down his side. He felt lightheaded the mix of blood loss and adrenaline leaving him queasy as he struggled to stand on his own two feet. He wanted to say he had no idea why they wanted to kill him but he knew that wasn’t true. They wanted him dead because he had magic, those with magic were always treated with fear and distrust which was why he always hid his measly abilities. It wasn’t like his magic was anything special anyway. He had some healing magic and was able to make weak barriers so it wasn’t like he was a danger to anyone. How they even knew he had magic he had no idea he just knew that when he saw armoured men with the symbol of the church he just knew to run. running, however, proved futile as he felt the bolt pierce his side from behind. He struggled to stay on his feet as he struggled to run, and he turned into an empty graveyard ducking under the metal bars to get into the church just at the right moment for a cross bolt to hit the metal bar right where his head was a second ago. The next shot had him less luckily as he felt the steel bolt tear into his thigh making him cry out in pain. The next thing that happened he couldn’t explain his bloody palms hit the lavender as he fell and the words just appeared in his mind. “Bring forth a woman with a presence of fire, bind those flames to me to help fight away her ire. Let her be my protection and I her salvation." @Blue Hound

Pain. Horror. Terror. Dread. That was what the young heiress saw through the eyes of the demon before her. She peeled her lips back, exposing glistening fangs as she released a bone-rattling growl. The thing beneath her whimpered in fright as it desperately tried to wiggle free from her hold. “M-Mercy…” It choked out, pleading for its life to be spared. Cruel laughter glinted within her amber stare. It begged for mercy despite it coming to challenge her. It howled in panic as it saw her decision flash across her gaze. She lurched downward with a snarl, jaws springing open to simply snap shut against its throat. She jerked her head sharply to the side, emitting a terrible snap as she broke its neck with ease. With that deed done, she wasted no time in tearing into its flesh, eager to feed. Typically, most people would see cannibalism as a taboo, a thing that goes against morals. But here in Inferno’s Wasteland, following morals could get you killed. Hardly anyone followed them anymore. Once satisfied, the demoness rose her large head upward, sniffing the dry, hot air. By the looks of it, the demon she slayed wasn’t the only one here. She shook her wolfish head with a low growl, preparing for another fight. When word got out that she survived her clan’s massacre years ago, demons from all over the surrounding land were hunting for her head. She was the sole survivor of the Kyl’zuq, a powerful group of demons from Volcano Mountain. The sound of shifting rocks alerted her of her opponent’s next move. A flash of movement. The scraping of claws…  There. She brought forth the flammable gas within her lungs and into her mouth. She whirled around, preparing to light the demon ablaze, when suddenly the world fell from under her feet. ------

“Bring forth a woman with a presence of fire, bind those flames to me to help fight away her ire. Let her be my protection and I her salvation...” The lavender bedding the man was beside erupted into brilliant flames. Strangely enough, despite the fire being right beside him, he did not feel the pain of being burned alive, just warmth. Before him, the flames danced in the wind as they rapidly grew. If he looked close enough, he might have been able to catch what appeared to be an illusion of the head of a wolf with horns quickly taking shape before vanishing back into the typical appearance of fire. It only took a few seconds before the flames died out. Replacing it stood a young woman dressed in red, flowy clothing, and a sturdy yet intricately designed metal collar around her neck. She had a pair of twisted black horns atop her head that were decorated with golden jewelry, slightly wavy grey hair that reached to the small of her back, and vivid orange eyes. She remained still for a moment before staggering slightly. The peaceful expression across her face shifted to one of pain, eyes squeezed shut as a hand whipped up to cup her forehead. She appeared unaware of what was transpiring before her.

He had never gotten into a real fight before. He had gotten into fistfights usually for stupid reasons but they were fights that never ended with anything more than bruises. And now he was being attacked by armed knights. It hurt the bolts that pierced his side and leg sending burning pain in his body. If anyone asked him what happened when he fell into the lavender he knew that he would never be able to explain it. The words were just brought to the forefront of his mind and the moment that he thought of them they just felt right. They felt perfect as they left his lips. They felt right, it was like they came from his soul directly. They came from his heart. The flames that erupted shocked him and stunned him making his heart race but as he looked at the warm flames still stunned that they weren’t burning him he quickly realised something else. He had no explanation for the source of the flames and yet he felt no fear. He wouldn’t be able to explain not even to himself but he had the sense that even if he stepped into the flames he knew that they wouldn’t hurt him. They brought him nothing but comfort. Then when a beautiful woman came from the flame with soft-looking grey hair that framed her body and pretty orange eyes that he knew he would get lost in during any other situation. He had other things to focus on, things that were so much more important and yet he couldn’t help but think about how pretty she looked in her red flowing dress or the fact that in his mind the metal collar suited her perfectly. ‘ “How did you.” He murmured forgetting about the men when she staggered and he saw the pain grace her face, he leaned over to her about to try and grab her hands to comfort her before he heard the sound of the crossbow being fired making him realise instinctively his mistake and not wanting the woman to end up getting hurt he raised his hand as he tried to push the woman away while he felt a burning pain pierce his shoulder. @Blue Hound

The woman’s eyes flew open as she heard a voice. She peered downward, brows furrowed in confusion upon feeling something-- no, someone brushed their hand against hers. She opened her mouth, about to ask them, him, what was happening when an unfamiliar snapping sound rang out. She stumbled sideways, nearly falling onto the ground as she suddenly got shoved. She jerked her gaze back to the figure who pushed her, confused about why he did such a thing. Her confusion morphed to one of realization when she saw his body stiffen in pain and the smell of blood assaulted her nose. Something long and thin was sticking out of his shoulder. She didn’t know why, but seeing this moral get hurt awakened an enraged fury within her. She snapped her attention past him and toward the attackers who gleamed in the moonlight. Her vision grew red. How dare they. How dare they hurt him! Her focus narrowed, eyes glowing a fiery orange as she bared her teeth into a feral snarl. Despite not knowing any of these men, she was going to make them pay. She willed the zburator residing beside her soul to awaken and allow her to transform into her more powerful form. But, after a moment of being unable to feel herself shift, confused panic started to bloom at the back of her mind. Why wasn’t she transforming? A flash of light and another snapping sound broke her out of her dooming thoughts as a bolt came flying toward her. She rolled out of the way seconds before it struck her and launched herself at the men with a roar of fury. They tried to stay together in order to better defend themselves, but her strength was no match for them. Fueled by fear, anger, and the need to protect the human, her attacks were powerful enough to dent and crack their armour. The flames she summoned from her mouth were hot enough to cause the metal to glow orange, burning the trapped flesh within. ------

It was only when the last knight fell from their face getting charred that she allowed her hellish fire to flicker from existence. She was breathing hard and had a gash raking across her left cheek from a lucky swing of a blade, but she paid no mind to the wound. Lucky enough for her, mortal weaponry untainted by celestial blessings were easy and quick to heal from. All the knights that were present had non-blessed gear. With the threat over, her burning gaze zeroed in on the human who had summoned her. Her eyes narrowed as she stalked forward to stop right in front of him. If she hadn’t grown up in a cruel and harsh place, the thought of him being quite handsome for his species might have crossed her mind. His pale skin, light gold locks, full lips, reddish-brown eyes, and sharp jawline could atone for that. But no, those thoughts never crossed her mind as she glowered down at him. This human had taken her away from her home to protect himself from some metal-bound fools. He found a way to lock her into this weaker form of herself and she hated it. Who did he think he was? Having the mindset that he could make the Queen of Volcano Mountain do his bidding. She pointed an accusatory finger at him. “Kiur sexounh.” She demanded harshly with curled lips of disdain.

He had acted by his instincts when he pushed her away, adrenaline and the instinctual wish to not die or to see anyone else die fuelled his movements allowing his broken and bleeding body to act long after it shoud have already given up and really all he had to show for it was more pain but at least he had managed to protect the beautiful woman. While she fought he swam in and out of consciousness, too weak and exhausted to really pay any real attention even if he did wish that he wasn’t too weak to be able to help her he barely got glimpses of the fight as he bled over the grass, the bolts thankfully being enough to keep his blood from flowing out of him too quickly. He partially regained consciousness when she came over to him. He was only half awake of her burning gaze. Unable to muster up enough energy to open his eyes and look into her narrowed eyes or notice her glare but he did sense her as he heard her footsteps. Her words were what gave him the push to open his eyes as he slowly forced his heavy eye lids to open. When he saw her he smiled weakly too lucid from bloodloss to really pick up on the accusation or harshness or the fact that she was speaking in a language that he didn't even understand. Raising one of his tired arms, the one that wasn't as hurt he looped his arm in a come hither motion before he spoke. "You really are beautiful." He really did feel horrible and so he made the request that he wanted most in that moment. "Can you hug me?"

Her hateful glare only seemed to grow as she caught sight of the human smiling at her. In her eyes, she saw it as a sign of mockery. Did he think her demand was of something to laugh at? If he were a demon, she'd have wiped that look off his face without a second thought. Quite frankly she actually wanted to, but whenever she thought of doing so, her body refused to listen to her. She could feel her soul's protest and she could do nothing but follow its command. However, it did leave her baffled and confused about why she felt that way toward him. As he raised one of his arms, she abruptly retracted her hand to get into a defensive posture with wide eyes and bared teeth. She dropped the snarl and taunt posture almost immediately upon recognizing the universal gesture to 'come here'. Her brow furrowed in confused concentration as he spoke. It took her a moment to figure out that he was saying one of the many mortal tongues. Inn-glish. Her brain struggled to supply. Very few people 'spoke' it back at home. The ones who could were only able to scrape together very basic words. Her mother had taught her all the words she knew, but it was a struggle trying to bring forth those memories. It didn't help that whatever he said caused a strange... feeling to tug at her soul. It felt like her subconscious wanted to do something, but it was as if it was asking for her permission first. She immediately dismissed the feeling and it vanished in the blink of an eye. "Se-" She paused, working her jaw up and down for a moment as she rummaged through her memory. "Wwhhat?" She managed to drawl out after a moment. Despite her voice being rough and growlish, it still had a surprisingly smoothish and light tone to it.

He was too out of it to really notice her glare. Too out of it to process how angry she was. "You're really beautiful you know that don't you? I hope you know that. You're like an angel." He murmured to her softly only half conscious and it was clear that he had no filter. Not that he could really be blamed too much. Bloodloss had a way of doing that to people. He did notice the way that she entered a defensive posture with wide eyes and bared teeth but her aggressiveness didn't scare him as he simply smiled at her happily before he smiled more widely when she relaxed. "You're like a ruffled kitten. I promise that I would never hurt you." He told her soflty his voice soft but indignant at the same time as if the mere thought of hurting someone especially someone so cute would be preposterous. Even with how delirious he was he didn't miss how confused she seem to be but to him there was only one thing on his mind. Which was exactly why braced himself and after heavy exertion managed to pull himself onto his shaky feet. "I would like to hug you. Can I hug you?" He asked her taking a small step towards her before his knee gave and he started to fall towards her. @Blue Hound

She merely continued to stare at him in confusion as he started rambling again. She was able to vaguely understand that he was talking about her, but she didn't know why. The more he spoke though, the less and less guarded she became. Despite the language barrier, his voice; albeit slightly slurred and thick with pain, she was able to tell that he had no intention of hurting her. How long had it been since the last time she met someone who didn't want to kill her at first sight? She couldn't remember. Seeing someone who didn't want to kill immediately was a nice feeling she decided while watching him struggle to his feet. A disapproving frown slid across her face as she watched his body tremble with the effort of holding himself up. She knew right away that he wasn't going to make a single step before falling. That thought and some other feeling she couldn't quite place was the only reason why she was able to lunge forward quickly enough to securely envelop him in her arms before falling back onto the ground. The sudden weight of his body caused her to stagger backward slightly, but she quickly straightened with a grunt. "Rykurlrtaro..." She grumbled into his blond hair with an exasperated tone. If it were anyone else, she would have dropped them right then and there. But there was a part of her that told her not to, that she should help him. With a sigh, she repositioned him so that one of his arms was draped over her shoulder and had a hand wrapped around his waist for support. "Sleeeep. Were?" She butchered out as she slowly began to walk out of the cemetery. She knew that the only safe place they could go was by entering the human’s territory, but she wasn’t sure how to get there.

She was really pretty. He couldn't help but think absentmindedly as she stated at him oblivious to how guarded she was which meant he was also oblivious to how she started to relax. You'd think that since he had just survived an attack that his own guard would be up more. They tried to kill him after all. But the sudden shock of blood loss and injury combined with the strain of summoning someone from so far away for the first time left him delirious. Besides fighting and suspicion just wasn't in his heart. When she caught him he reacted without thinking his arms wrapped around her waist and he hugged her as tightly as his arms could muster. It wasn't a strong hug, he was too tired from bloodloss to muster such a hug but it was warm and affectionate as he held her closely. "Thank you." He whispered to her softly unable to help but press his temple against hers affectionately as she changed her hold on him so that she could walk easier. "I can show you." He whispered his head resting on her shoulder tiredly before he shook his head knowing that it would be bad if he passed out. @Blue Hound

"Let me show you. I don't live far from here." He murmured before he started to lead her to the best of his ability needing to rest his weight on her still because of how weak he was.

Her mind immediately flatlined after she felt him affectionately press his temple against hers and rest his head against her shoulder. She felt her soul jump and a tingling warmth shoot down her spine with fondness. Her brow quickly furrowed in confusion. Why did she suddenly feel like that again? What was going on? Was it because of the human? Despite the feeling lasting only for a second, whatever words the mortal had spoken were lost to her. She was too distracted to bother to decipher most of it. She frowned with a soft growl of dissatisfaction. The only thing she was able to catch was the very last bit of it. He was going to show her where he lived and that it wasn't far. When he started to try to lead her forward, another exasperated huff left her as she rolled her eyes. He could have just given her instructions on where to go instead of trying to overexert his already exhausted body by attempting to physically guide her. He was quite the nuisance. Nonetheless, she shuffled onward while making sure she had a secure yet careful grip on him. While they walked, she couldn't help but notice a few nightly walkers staring at them with concern or skeptical looks. Luckily for them, they quickly looked away after she bared her teeth and growled at them. They were not allowed to look at him that way.
