It was a cold autumn night, the chilly blowing, leaving crunching under each footstep she made. The moon hidden by gray clouds It seemed like a dreadful night, but the perfect night for Thalassa. Finally the name Thalassa was feared, many knew her story but not her true story, expect for her pack members so she was a bit afraid to go there.. but none the less she had a job to do. Thalassa would have her hair in a messy bun, her golden eyes was the only thing that were seen, glowing in the dark of night. She’d be in her huntress uniform wearing high heeled boots, her claws out, her eyes sharpen and narrowed as she approach the place she once called home she took a deep breath before entering, walking down as the clacks of her heels echoed as she’d stop at the end of the states, seeing her old pack members.. and new ones, the chattering died down as the wolves looked at her “Thalassa..?” one spoke looking at her in awe and yet fear— “y-your the one they talked about.. and sent your the “golden eyes” of the night..” *They spoke as Thalassa glared daggers at them nodding “Hmp.. Why was I called now..?” She spoke as Beta Vivian would enter looking to Thalassa, shocked she was even here

“And what is an outsider like you doing back here!? Hmp? The rejected Luna coming back for her man?” Vivian snorted as the other members would look at her like.. you done fucked up.. as Thalassa would smirk.. approaching Vivian slowly

“Vivi.. seems nothings changed about you..” she say as she’d grabbed the Betas throat and slammed her into the wall, pinning her as her claws dug into her neck, smiling hearing Vivian whimper in pleasure as blood crept her claws

“I’ll ask that you refrain from bringing up my past with that douche…. I doubt he’s even here anymore.. now your Alpha has requested I come here, so please, be a good girl and show me to him?” she’d smile dropping Vivian down as Vivian would cough, catching her breath. She stare at Thalassa in fear.. as she nodded

“Y-yes this way..” Vivian said as her and Thalassa would approach him

“Sir.. the hunter you requested..” Vivian said as she left.. Thalassas eyes widen

The male sat in his office, looking over paperwork on the cost of everything. He seemed frustrated when he heard the door open. "Come in." He glanced up as he saw Thalassa and raised an eyebrow. "Yes? I suggest you don't take that tone if you're wanting anything in return from this transaction." He went back to the papers, signing a few more things before he stood. His gaze turned back to the girl. "I will say, I wasn't expecting it to be you that everyone seems to fear. Thought maybe it was a different wolf by the same name, but I knew your name wasn't common." He moved to the other side of his desk and leaned against it. "I am not interested in digging up the past." He grabbed a file and held it out to her. Inside of it detailed to plan. "I am requesting for more support these next few days. Many of our hunters will be occupied for a bit, and I need to ensure everything is still fine within the pack. I am finding a new mate, and you are here to ensure it goes smoothly with the rest of the pack; in terms of food and parimeter sweeps." He shrugged. "You will be paid handsomely. It will be about two to three weeks and then you will be paid your sum. Half in the beginning, half at the end. If you try anything, you will be lucky to walk out with your life. You may be a feared hunter, but I am an alpha." He stood and walked closer to her, holding out his hand. "Deal?" His behavior was much colder and calmer than years ago. He'd get angry before, but he was a hotheaded teenager. Now he seemed different... older. "You are expected at dinner every night to be briefed on the upcoming day, and there will be an announcement about your arrival. I expect you there.

Thalassa slyly chuckled, as she leaned back on the wall watching him carefully “Oh? Last I recall you don’t control me.. so I’ll do as I please” she smile hastily as she watched him lean on his desk now. Curious to why he called for backup as she grabbed the Manila folder opening it “oh good, me to” she responded as she would review the plan She froze.. now looking up raising a brow, a sarcastic laugh slipping through her lips “Sorry.. did you say your finding a new mate” she reiterated, a hint of jealousy coming out mixed with a mix of hatred.. as she shook her head “you called me here to help make sure things go smoothly while your looking for your next— play thing!?” She snarled now tossing the folder carefully aside as he approached her She would glance up maintaining eye contact with him “Oh? Your status doesn’t matter to me.. I’m sure I’d be able to take you down” she cockily said now gazing to his hand, carefully taking it and firmly shaking it “The pay better be good.. if your really making me go through all this” she said now lowering her hand and gently pushing him away from her. She felt her heart ache.. but she wasn’t going to express that, after all those years of trying to beg for his attention, he finally is looking for someone else’s and she felt like a fool “I’ll attend some dinners I’ll see after the first one if I really want to go Sterling” she said as she would push herself off the wall “And where do you expect me to stay?” @NovaRose

Sterling raised an eyebrow as he looked out her. He walked over to her, his height towering over. "As long as you are within my territory at my request, I control you." He narrowed his eyes at the girl before turning away. He glanced at the girl as she seemed pissed at his words and nodded. "Correct. But this time, instead of a play thing, I plan to create a family with them." He shrugged and shook his head as she mentioned how she was sure she could take him down. "Go through all of this? You have to ensure no one gets hurt for a few weeks and get paid 10K. We can hardly spare it, but if it means my pack will be provided for I will make due. You will hardly be doing shit. If you aren't interested in the job or are so pissed about it, leave." His words were cold, testing her. When she spoke about where she would stay, he moved to leave the office and walk her to the room. She would be staying in quarters closest to his, traditionally used as the mates room before couples began sharing rooms. He opened the door to reveal the luxurious quarters with silk sheets and an overall light feminine vibe. He sighed softly and glanced at her. He hated looking at her. He could see her strength and hated how things ended between them. Fuck, he needed a drink. He turned his gaze away from her and began to walk away. "I will see you at dinner. Get comfortable." He walked into his room which was adjacent to hers and shut the door, instantly pouring himself a glass of whiskey.

6:05 PM

By the time he had to announce Thalassa's arrival, the alcohol was clear on his breath. He knew people weren't able to smell it unless close and so he didn't care for the small gathering before dinner. Everyone gathered in the large room while Sterling stood in front of them, almost on a stage like area. He cleared his throat and a hush fell over the crowd. "As time goes on, our pack gets smaller. I cannot help but worry that I am to blame in such. With no leader beside me, I have decided that it is time for me to take a mate. While it isn't a process I wish to rush into, everyone will have a chance. Letters will be sent out shortly for potential dates. However, because many of our Huntresses will be distracted, I have brought in reinforcements. I am sure many of you have heard of the feared Golden Eyes. Such a name belongs to a past member of out pack, Thalassa. However, despite her history with us, no disrespect will be shown to her. If I hear of any direspect, any physical violence, or even looking at her wrong, you will answer directly to me." The excitement that was on the females faces vanished as he placed this rule. He never was direct with rules or punishments, as long as there were no issues, so his words were shocking to many. He turned to Thalassa, his eyes indifferent. Thalassa would roll her eyes, staring daggers at him as she ran her tongue along her teeth. She really could have just up and left him right then and there, but a week of basically doing nothin for 10k while he goes out and find it next victim? Sounded like easy money to the blonde as she would notice his coldness. Her eyes widen slightly but she knew this was a test, normally he’d never speak to her like that before.. right? But she showed no emotion, nor did she respond to that, just keeping quiet as she figured that’s what he wanted,and once he pivoted to leave his office, Tal followed behind shortly, the echo of her heels heard as they walked down the narrow hall As they stopped to her room and he opened it, she would look confused , stepping in, clearly this was a bed for the alphas potential mate and he was giving it to her. Thalassa shook that thought from her head and just took it to her advantage now as she would merely nod “Mh..” she said glancing back watching Sterling leave. A wave of emotions finally hitting her like a truck as she would walk further into the room and get settled, taking a shower before dinner once out of the shower Thalassa would dress up and do her hair and makeup, a smoky eye and a high ponytail with a bold red lip as she would head over and grab her dagger, placing it in her hair so the handle stood out, once she was ready she’d slip on black heels and make her way towards the dining area, she hated that she remembered this place to a tea As she walked in and headed towards Sterling she’d notice the looks of others on her, however she paid no mind to them as her sensitive nose got a whiff of the alcohol, she would glance over to Sterling since when did he start to drink? she thought to herself as the wolves began to pile into the room, curious what the alpha had to say

6:30 PM

As he spoke, Thalassa eyes wandered the crowd , watched some mumble and whisper to others about her return not paying any attention to his speech, however she did notice the ladies faces brighten when he mentioned he was looking for a mate, and some giggles throughout the crowd , however Thalassa would roll her eyes now looking to Sterling as he continued “Hunteress being distracted you got to be kidding me” she mumbled not even sure if Sterling heard that, as she would glance back to the crowd watching as the faces of the females would tune pale, a small amusing chuckling escaping her lips once more as she would shake her head “Just don’t get in my way” she added “Your little weak beta can tell you what happens when you do get in my way” she said smiling crazed as the others would turn to Vivian a bit concerned as she wrapped her hand around her neck to cover her wound from earlier, just staying quiet “Oh and good luck.. you’ll need it ladies” she snarkly said now looking to Sterling with a satisfied smile @NovaRose (her outfit)

The Alpha glanced at her and turned away at her words. She was being overly dramatic. He noticed her satisfied smile and shook his head. "As I remember, you once looked just as hopeful as them." His words were sharp and quiet so only she would hear. He turned back to the crowd and hesitated. "If any lady wishes to check for a letter, they may leave now." The ones who rushed out first weren't likely to receive one. He hesitated before dismissing everyone. Sterling moved back to his chambers, needing a shower before dinner. He wanted to drink more, but knew it wouldn't be good if others knew the extent of his drinking. Sterling took a long shower, changing into a black shirt and black pants. His shirt was unbuttoned a bit and he had a silver chain and a necklace with a flower on it. He walked back to dinner and looked over everyone. A seat next to him was reserved for Thalassa. He saw the way all the girls wore skimpy outfits and their best makeup and tried his best to keep a straight face. Sterling hated how much everyone tried. It wasn't his style. He eventually sat down and began eating. His eyes trailed over Thalassa, not even trying to hide it before he went back to his food. He felt sick. Tal was beautiful. Every part of her being there made him ache for a past that could never happen. He hated who he used to be. Halfway through eating, he stood up to leave to the gardens. At least three girls tried to stand and follow after him and he growled. "Stay." They all sat down hurriedly. He walked out to the garden, looking up at the stars as night had fallen. He knew he didn't talk to Thalassa like he was supposed to about the upcoming day, but he didn't care. He walked through the gardens and ran his hand over some flowers before sitting down on a bench of the far end. He glanced up at the sky and pulled out his flask, tensing when he realized he wasn't alone. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

The huntress would glare daggers at him as soon as he said that to her. He wasn’t wrong, and she hated that she couldn’t come up with something on the fly. She would turn back her attention to the female who desperately left and away, as it reminded her of who she used to be Quietly sighing she would begin heading back towards her room, only to get stopped by none other than Vincent, someone she vaguely remembered as a weakling. Vincent would chuckle, lifting up Thalassas chin leaning in so their noses touched

“Well well.. if it isn’t the girl of my dreams..” he hummmed with a chuckle following

As Thalassa would push him back, and fix herself up now folding her arms “cleary you weren’t there when Sterling said to leave me alone right?” she responded raising a brow watching as Vincent’s playful smile turn into a hungry one

“Oh I was there.. I listened but how could I resist that little body of yours.. especially now in that dress Thalassa?” He said analyzing her with hungry eyes, as he would carefully once more lift her chin up “When will u realize that we were meant to be..” he whispered in her lips as her breath hitched

The blonde would move her head, snarling “Your dumb if you think I’m ever going to get back with someone of this clan, and especially you..” she said looking around wondering if Sterling was even nearby “Oh what the alpha would do to you if he knew about this..” she said playfully tapping her chin and walking off leaving at that. Though she had to admit Vincent was hot.. but not as hot as Sterling and she hated that she still thought Sterling was hot Once in her room, she would spray the perfume Sterling used to like, unintentionally of course. She saw how Sterling changed how he became more cold.. more calm, and it made him more intimidating, at least to her but she didn’t have to impress him anymore.. ever since he rejected her on her birthday she changed, and for the better so she thought

4:14 AM

Shed make her way back to dinner noticing how all the chairs were taken besides the one next to Sterling, she’d huff and walked over sitting down next to him and looked over at the sea of women who were all dolled up for him fuck.. was I like this too..? Pathetic She thought as she would glance over now towards Sterling.. seeing his hair was semi wet.. and slicked back, wearing all black with a silver chain, she glanced away almost immediately as she felt her heart race just seeing him dressed like that. She then began to slowly eat, noticing eyes on her she glanced up making a brief eye contact with Sterling before she went back to eating His sudden exit startled half the women, but only brought confusion to Thalassa, watching him go as three desperate women got up trying to follow, only for him to bark at them to stay, Thalassa chuckled slightly

“I wonder what’s wrong..” One spoke watching him leave in awe

“It’s her she’s messing up everything!” the other pointed glaring at the blonde, as Thalassa would just be watching them, munching on her food before harshly swallowing

“Oh no.. I’m back and now you think I want him” she fake pouted, stabbing her fork into the table immediately shutting the girls up “Allow me to make one thing clear.” she said getting up her voice as cold as ice “I’m here to just protect you skimpy hoes.. and the rest of the clan who isn’t participating in this little game, without me I’m sure you’d all be dead by now, and it’s only been a day so I suggest you watch your tongue around me.. because I don’t want Sterling anymore.. he’s all yours” She said now as she would make her exit to go check on Sterling

4:18 AM

“Tch not fair she gets to go check on him..” another said huffing at the girls would stare at her gulping

Thalassa heard that but she chose to ignore it as she would follow his scent to the garden,her footsteps as light as a feather falling, rounding the corner and seeing him sitting on the bench She would quietly approach , and by the time he noticed her scent she was already behind the bench he was sitting on, leaning forward, her tail swaying ever so slightly and her arms crossed on the bench glancing towards the flask he pulled out “You know.. not everybody wants an alcoholic husband” she teased.. sorta “And wow.. you sensed me late.. if I was an assassin I could have gotten you here.. here and here” She said, her claws coming out as she would carefully brush her claw along his neck.. back and the back of his neck before lowering her finger off him now, sighing softly “So why did ya rush off?” @NovaRose

The male sat outside on the bench and noticed her scent. He didn't really say anything to greet her but as she approached him, he leaned back to look up at her, his head placed on her slightly. "An alcoholic husband?" He grinned goofily. "Alcohol is the only thing keeping me out of my head. Most don't even realize." The alpha took another swig and shrugged. "There's no reason to stop. I'd rather avoid my thoughts. Besides, I am functional and ensure my pack it as good as it can be before anything. And I am not sure anyone will actually want me as a husband." He shrugged and stood up turning to her. They were close and he could feel her body warmth. He hesitated for a second. It was hard to focus with her scent and her perfume was intoxicating. He Sterling turned his gaze away from her as he spoke. "Tomorrow I plan to go into town. You are free to do what you please for the rest of the night. I will probably be in my study avoiding everyone or out here until I drink myself to sleep tonight." He shrugged and his eyes roamed over her body. "We are going for flowers and pastries. I want some sweets to treat my staff. Flowers will either be for the overall estate or whatever dates I end up on." After a second his paused. "That woman that blamed you for me leaving? She won't receive a letter. She must be a bitch, and I just told everyone not to disrespect you." He pulled out a pack of cigarettes and stared at them for a bit, hesitant before putting them away. "She will be spoken to about it as well. People will not be treating you like that again this time. It shouldn't have ever been that way, but that's the past." Sterling looked back at her and spoke again. "You are be offered a chance. In this whole mate bullshit. I don't expect you to take it, but if you ever do then there are instructions in the letter. It'll be in your room." He turned away and took another swig of his flask. He seemed distant from everything, overall a lot more reserved and blunt.

As he rested his head back she would run her fingers through hair briefly before lowering her hand and placing it behind her, subtly nodding “Hmp.. well whatever helps you cope” she shrugged as it wasn’t her place to tell him anything, as she then would shake her head “Yea clearly functional..” she said as she looked down at him. She knew he was running some his issues, but what issues? She couldn’t tell as she then would lazily smile “Oh are you so sure about that..? Everybody in that dinner room seems so desperate to have you as their husband” She said as she stepped back as he stood up and turned to face her She would glance up noticing the way he hesitated as she would cross her arms now listening to him talk, her head tilting in the slightest causing her ears to flop in the same direction “That’s.. disgusting..” she blurted just rolling her eyes, it was obvious that she hated people who drank like that.. to avoid their problems “if you keep acting like that.. then yea maybe those sluts don’t want you as a husband.. then what so would you ever do..” she cooed resting her the palm of her hand on her cheek looking at him she then continued to listen, nodding along “wow you sound completely interested in this” she sarcastically said “But I like flowers.. and sweets so that sounds fun, sorta..” Thalassa shrugged now, smirking as she would nodded, glancing down to the pack of cigs he pulled out “Yeah well.. I can defend myself trust me.. I don’t need you to do it for me.. I put her in her place. And by that I mean I was going to threaten her the same way I didn’t little beta but, didn’t feel like it” Thalassa huffed now uncrossing her arms.. as her eyes widen “oh so now you want to offer me a chance!?” she said chuckling now “Look your too weak I can’t accept you as my mate..” the blonde reiterated to him spiteful, her eyes narrowed almost offended he even said that as she walked off not allowing him a chance to speak to her

As she got to her to her room, she’d see the letter nicely laid out on her silken pillow.. as she walked over curious what it said as she opened it and read it, just shaking her head as she set the letter aside and got ready for bed..

The Following Morning

Thalassa got up rather early.. 5am as she would go for a jog and do a quick workout, around 6-6:30 she headed back into the den and got the slightest whiffed of alcohol in her nose as she glanced to Sterling’s room, just disappointed as she would walk past and go to her room and shower and get ready for the day wearing causal wear and headed into the kitchen to make herself breakfast just bacon and eggs as she sighed hesitating on weather she should make Sterling breakfast, untimely she didn’t as she ate, leaving some of the cooked bacon for the alpha if he wanted it, waiting for Sterling to get up as it would now be around 7:30am, after finishing she’d head to the living room and wait, there she would see Vincent sitting there, shirtless as he smirked looking to Thalassa

“Looking beautiful as always..” Vincent cooed getting up to expose more of his abs, as Thalassa would eye him up and down with a subtle smirk, shaking her head and sitting down on the sofa

“Oh come on baby~ I know you want me badly..” he said walking behind her and growling softly into her ear.. not aware that Sterling was probably around the corner or nearby as Thalassa sat, unbothered, rather she was curious about sterling’s reaction, she figured he wouldn’t care but apart of her wanted to be wrong..

The male seemed confused by her running her hands through his hair, visibly looking confused for a few seconds before he put back on a loose smile, his mask to emotions. He chuckled and shrugged. "I am sure. They want the alpha they see. Strong and handsome." He said in a joking mock before he stood. An amused glint flickered in his eyes as her ears flopped, but his gaze turned unemotional when she called it disgusting. "We all have our vices. If that happened, I'd marry out. Perhaps merge packs and actually allow us a chance." She mocked his interest and he raised an eyebrow. "I'm not really interested in any of them. But it's my responsibility." When she quoted his past he had to keep himself from wincing, clenching his hands as his nails dug into his palm. And so he let himself fall back into the disinterest, the mask he showed everyone. The letter read: [Dearest Thalassa, The past was never kind to you, and neither was I. If there is ever a time you want to try again, simply let Bonnie know. She has a dress for you. It's perfect. Sincerely, Sterling Ellis} That night Sterling drank himself to sleep, despite the disgust the female showed. The next morning, he rolled out of bed around 7, showering. Afterwards, he picked up all the bottles from the last week or so, cleaning out his room. When he finished, he got dressed in a teal shirt and white pants. He moved to the kitchen to make food, although he knew his stomach would hurt from it.

4:56 PM

When he arrived, he saw Vincent and clenched his hands. He took the bacon leftover before his gaze turned to the two. He looked indifferent, aside from his clenched hands. "Vincent, I have plans with Thalassa. If she wants you so badly, she can have you tonight. If you're harassing her, she has every right to put your ass in place. As do I." He set the glass plate down a bit harsher than he meant to, it shattering. The alpha cursed under his breath and began cleaning it up. Bonnie rushed to help and he smiled softly at the girl. "I got it. I don't want you to get hurt." She hushed him, saying it was nonsense, but he still refused to let her touch it. He threw it away, holding his hand carefully before turning to Thalassa. "Be ready in twenty minutes. I'll be at the front then." His words were short and he turned to leave quickly. His hand was cut, but it wasn't anyone's issue but his. He just hoped she wouldn't question him not being ready to leave when he looked ready. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

Thalassa frowned at his reaction, but she sorta saw it coming from a mile away, and yet she was still disappointed, truly Sterling has changed. As she’d jumped, startled hearing the plate shatter, she would glance over looking to Sterling and then Vince, as she smirked pushing Vincent away “I don’t know~ maybe I’ll see him tonight” she winked as Vincent’s smirk grew only wider before looking to Sterling with a cold expression and then making his exit Shed then notice Bonnie rushing over to assist, Bonnie a housemaid who has been here for what seemed like decades and working closely with the alpha and Luna before Sterling took over. She liked Bonnie, as times Bonnie would come over to her room and comfort Thalassa before she left and went rouge. Seeing Bonnie Thalassa would look away feeling guilty for just leaving her and the pack high and dry for her own mental health.. but she snapped out of her thoughts when she smelled blood, now looking over to Sterling’s hand “Shit- here let me—“ only to her cut off as he spoke “be ready in twenty minutes..” he said as Thalassa looked confused eyeing the alpha up and down.. he wasn’t ready..? “But Sir your clearly ready to go— er you know what.. ok find.. I’ll see you upfront in twenty..” she said, pivoting as she would walk away, making a quick detour to grab some first aid supplies as she then sat outside the entrance waiting for him, the supplies tucked into her bag incase he didn’t get it wrapped before he left to met her @NovaRose

The alpha sent a glare her way when she question him and left quickly. In his room he ran water over the wound, wincing. Afterwards he rinsed it with alcohol and wrapped it with a cloth. After he finished tending to it, he moved to the front doors. He knew Thalassa may be able to smell the alcohol but he hadn't drank anything. Once he arrived at the doors, he waited for her for a while before he led her to the car. He got in and pulled away from the estate. He drove to town, it only being about ten minutes away. Luckily, it was close enough to be convenient but far enough away to have enough room for the wolves to roam. Sterling pulled up and rested his hand on her seat as he turned to parallel park. As he parked, he glanced at her and walked into the flower shop. He glanced around at all the flowers and hesitated before heading to the lady in charge. "I'm here to pick the monthly order for the estate." He pulled out his wallet and glanced over as she seemed to have an interest in some blue flowers. "And two of whatever the lady likes." He set cash down on the counter and moved outside the small shop. He began to help another worker load the trunk of his car. He tried to keep fresh flowers around throughout the year, but they never change. The guy commented on Thalassa as they walked in and out of the shop with flowers. "Who is she? A new girlfriend?" Sterling chuckled softly at the males words and shrugged. "That implies I had a girlfriend in the past. You know I don't really do that kind of thing." Sterling seemed lighter here, like there was less weight on his shoulders. It was definately a more genuine side of him not many saw. "Really dude? I thought you bagged a hottie, but I guess you're still stuck on your ex."

5:50 PM

Sterling shook his head and chuckled softly. "Something like that man." He finished up and turned to Thalassa. He thanked the woman and took the two bouquets, setting them in his back seat. The alpha glanced at Tal, hesitant. "Ready?" He tilted his head towards the door to signal that they would leave. He led the way to the pastry shop, silent on the walk. As soon as he walked out she would smell the rubbing alcohol and looked over, seeing his hand was patched up now as the blonde nodded to herself as she would get up, slipping her hands into her pocket walking with him to the car as he’d open the door for her, she’d get in and take her bag off, setting it down on the floor of the car as she’d buckle in The car ride was silent.. the tension definitely there as Thalassa would look out the window and hum softly to herself as they drove to the the town, tapping her finger on her thigh. The scent of Sterling was intoxicating to the huntress and she hated.. so despised herself for feeling that way to someone who rejected her and made her a fool on her own birthday. As they went to parallel park, Thalassa flinched in the slightest seeing his hand move towards her. Only to rest it on the car head of her seat as he would park. Once he parked Thalassa would unbuckle and leave the car, leaving her bag in their purposely seeing no point of bringing it in The smell of fresh flowers hit her nose as she’d smile and walked in, the smell door bell chiming to alert the workers that costumers have arrived as she’d stray not far from the Alpha, looking at Hydrangea macrophylla, a blueish.. purple hue as she’d lean in to smell it, euphoria hitting her nose as she would finally glance over towards Sterling and the clerk “…” Thalassa would shrug, she loved plants and wasn’t going to not buy any if he was offering to get her some, so she’d grab a bundle of the hydrangeas and a succulent plant setting it on the counter.. leaving to where Sterling went Since she was incharge of protecting him she knew she couldn’t stray far from the alpha.. that was the downside. As he moved outside the small shop she would to leave, only to lean against the wall watching him. He was like a whole new person.. he seemed more calm here.. happier even as she over heard their conversation, rolling her eyes waiting for them to finish

Once they finished their conversation she watched Sterling went in and grabbed the bouquets of flowers “Thank you sir” she said quietly as they walked to his car. Sir, she hated saying that especially to him but it was the most respectful thing she could do.. or perhaps the most formal thing to say. As she’d lean forward on the car watching him put the flowers in the backseat. Once he finished she would nod, pushing herself up “Yea, I’m ready” she said as she would walk next to him, her posture straight, and her ears stiffed on high alert as they walked ready for anything to happen. The air tenser now and her breath hitched as they walked.. the more of his scent she got.. the more she wanted him, but she refused to show it.. maybe she’d show it to Vince to get her frustrations out… Once they entered the pastry shop the smell of baked goods snapped her from her.. intrusive thoughts as she would look towards the counter to see what they offered.. her stomach growling as she would clutch her waist mumbling shut up to herself, looking at the glass container of sweets “All these look delish.. especially the chocolate croissant..” she said tempted to buy one herself

“Hello! Welcome to Mamas Wests baked goods, what can I get you folks?” a voice spoke behind the counter, an older sweet woman waiting for someone to place there order as Thalassa would look back at Sterling, waiting for him now

The alpha noticed her flinch and tensed up. When in the shop, he made sure to get two of the Hydrangea Macrophylla. He planned to put one in his room so he knew when her flowers died. Though he quickly corrected the thought to be when the estates flowers die. When she thanked him, he looked at her confused. "Do not call me sir. It's weird." He shook his head and began walking beside her. When he noticed her ears, he tried to refrain from a goofy smile. Sterling moved his hand to her head slowly, rustling her hair. "Calm down. There's no threats. You're here to protect my pack more than me." He knew she might question why she was even there if the case, but he had no intent to answer if she did. When they entered the shop, he smiled softly at the woman. He leaned on the counter with a soft smile, looking kindly at the woman. "Is there any chance I could get a variety of everything? I am over at Ellis Estate and was hoping to treat my staff. And then we'll take a chocolate croissant and black coffee while we wait." He glanced at Thalassa and looked over the menu for a bit before nodding. The lady looked hesitant at the large order and he chuckled softly. "I can go ahead and pick it up in a few days. As long as we have our croissant and coffee today."

The lady looked relieved and he smiled at her before back at Thalassa. "Anything else you want today? I might get some more, just because I hardly ate this more." He looked away quickly, his face going blank as he looked for a bit before asking her for an apple fritter. When the employee went back to work on their order, he sat down and stared out the window. He had shut down a bit after the reminder of this morning, thoughts of Thalassa and Vincent flooding his thoughts. And with the car ride over here, her scent seeming consuming to him. It wasn't until the lady called his name two or three times that he heard and got up to get it. The alpha smiled at the old lady, "sorry about that, you have a great day." He moved to sit back down with his donut and coffee. Sterling glanced at Thalassa and hesitated. There was so much he wanted to say, but none that he could. After a second he spoke. "So you and Vincent... He's a bit of a cocky ass, but if that's your type." He smiled at the girl, though it never reached his eyes. "It's better than everyone assuming I will be with Viv. I like having her around, but she can be... harsh." A bitch. She could definitely be a bitch. But he wasn't about to say that about one of his friends. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

“Sir sir sir” she reiterated now chuckling as she would place her hands behind her back now, and flinching when he ruffled her hair, Thalassa would nip his hand as she would fix her hair now “Don’t do that, and don’t remind me of my job.. but since we arnt at the den.. you are my priority” she said now as she would glance towards him and then back ahead “you never know when a threat will come..” she shrugged as they walked into the bakery The huntress stood slightly behind him as he placed his order, he was never this kind before, but then again alot changed in 4 years so.. the Sterling she knew then was clearly dead as he mentioned something about breakfast she’d quietly chime “well I was debating if I should’ve cooked you breakfast.. but then I remembered it wasn’t my place to do that” she smiled humbly now as her eyes gazed back at the sweet treats “Hmm.. maybe just a dirty chai” She said, nodding as the lady at the register would take down their orders, smiling as she said it would be out shortly The two would go find a table and sit down, Thalassa would be tapping her fingers along the table just looking around the bakery.. as she then looked over and saw Sterling lost in thought.. after about the 3rd call he finally snapped out as she would raise a brow watching him get up and grab their order and head back to the table “You were so lost in thoughts.. where did ya go” she said grabbing her drink and croissant now as she sipped her drink and took a nibble of the croissant, chuckling when she heard Vince’s name brought up “Seems so, you were also cocky asshole” she said as she’d fully bite into the croissant, chewing and then swallowing as she continued “But him.. I’d never, sure he’s hot but not my type.. he’s definitely a fuck boy and I don’t mess with those”

The blonde said, listening to his little tangent about Vivian as she scoffed rolling her eyes “Don’t know why you even have her as beta.. she’s a dumb bimbo who can’t even defend herself!” Tal snarled now “She fucks up alot and doesn’t even know boundaries!” she continued.. it seemed like she could go more and more on about Vivian but she stopped it at that “if anything she’s a bitch” she said sipping her chai. Maybe, no definitely she was bias she hated Vivian as she remembered having to always on up her to get Sterling attention.. and when Thalassa ultimately failed Vivian never let it go, and it was clear that Thalassa hated to be reminded of the past “So, who do you plan on taking out since your getting this whole arrangement” the blonde said a hint of jealousy slipping as she wished she was treated like this by him in the past @NovaRose

He rolled his eyes but tensed. He hated her calling him that because of the distance it put between them. He chuckled as she nipped at him and pulled away. "If you don't want the job, you're free to leave. You aren't a necessity, just a assurance." His tone was a bit colder until they walked into the building. He seemed to shift as he talked to the lady. When Thalassa asked where he went, he just glanced at her and just spoke about her and Vincent. He raised an eyebrow as she called him a cocky asshole. "Were? Darling, I still am. Don't think I've changed. Maybe I am not the hotheaded boy you knew, but I am not as different. And if I am, its for the better." He knew she would disagree with the alcohol and smoking, but didn't care. She mentioned that he wasn't her type and slowly nodded. "I figured you wouldn't go for anyone here. Not after the past. It's not worth staying." He shrugged. When she was pissed about Vivian he chuckled and shrug, a distant look in his eyes. He finished off his coffee and pulled off chunks of the donut before standing to leave. "Her father held a high position. My mother was also fond of her, though I have no clue as to why." Sterling opened the door for her and headed back to the car. "Who? I have no clue. I have no interest in it. But we aren't doing well otherwise. I think many females are waiting to marry others because I have the spot open, so I need to change that. On top of that, it doesn't look great for a single male to lead. I'm supposed to have someone strong beside me. But at this point, I am lucky if I find someone I can tolerate and start a family with." He fidgeted a bit. He hated the scent of every other female. They weren't her. If he could just find one he was okay being around, maybe he could start a life with them. But with her around now, he wasn't sure if he could even focus on anyone else. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

“oh ho ho ho.. is that so..? If I really wanted to leave I would’ve have taken you up on that offer now would I..?” she playfully hummed looking at him now. As they would be now sitting down , her fingers now tapping along her cup “That is very true.. you still are” she nodded in agreement “But just calmer.. which I can’t tell is scarier, or not” Tal chuckled now “I liked the hotheadedness kept things.. spicy at times” she admit with a shrug now, for the better or not she really could care less. It wasn’t like she was living with the pack it wasn’t until he mentioned that she wouldn’t go for anybody in the pack that brought her back into reality.. as she would look at Sterling.. her eyes narrowed as if she was warning him to not cross that boundary. While he was right… he was only right to some extent, who knew maybe a couple days could change her mind or not, but she didn’t want to fixate on that, after all she was here for just a mission “What do you mean it’s not worth staying..?” she questioned now, raising a brow “I wasn’t intending on staying at all in the first place..” she quickly added, did Sterling have intentions on making her stay? She would finish off her pastry and get up, sipping to her drink as he spoke about Vivian’s past, rolling her eyes “Whatever..” the huntress grumbled as she would walk out the door and continue to sip to her drink, almost choking on it now hearing him “Yea good luck.. all those women in there.. they are your only choice, unless you venture out to a different pack..” she said looking at him “But for what it’s worth, I don’t think marriage really satisfies status.. your an Alpha for a reason” Thalassa said as she finally finished her drink and tossed it in a nearby trash can -

As they walked to the car she would notice him trail off and again lost in thought, as she’d open her car door and got in, waiting for Sterling to get in as well. Once he did she’d buckle up and make herself comfortable, leaning her car seat back now and running her fingers through her hair “I’m sure you’ll find someone” she finally said, almost as if she was forcing herself too, in all honesty she didn’t want to see him strive after what he did to her, she wished he’d live a life alone, or maybe she just wanted him to live a life with her. Regardless it was evident she was getting more jealous just hearing him speak about it.. however it hasn’t affected any of her work yet “So, what’s the plan now.. if you’re going on those stupid dates I need to grab my supplies.. and actually change into something more.. formal..” she said, titling her head and lazily smiling at him, exposing her sharp k-9s “If that’s fine with you of course.. sir~” she purred, teasing him, knowing he hated it but she loved seeing him upset.. she wanted to know how far she could get with taunting and teasing him before he’d snap…

The male glanced at her. At his words, a wicked glint crossed his eyes. "I can still be hotheaded. I just know it's not for the best. Don't worry, the spice is still there." He teased and shrugged as he questioned the aspect of it not being worth staying. "After your past here, not much would get you to stay. And more than anything, our pack is struggling after my father left." No one in the pack knew much about his father leaving, just that he took on the role of alpha in his teen years, his mother helping him through it. Sterling glanced at her as she mentioned status and nodded. "Yes, but everyone expects it of me." He glanced away. His mother would be coming back in a week and she expected that he had someone. She had left for a few months and told him she wanted him to have a wife by the time she got back. As they walked to the car and got in, Sterling just shook his head. "I don't know anymore. I don't know if I ever will be happy." He forced a small chuckle and turned on the radio. He glanced at her when she asked again. "Not after everything that happened." He clenched the steering wheel a bit tighter and glanced at her before he pulled out and began driving. When she mentioned the plan he threw one hand up. When she spoke again he looked over her and inhaled deeply. Fuck she was gorgeous. Laying there with her stupid little smile. He rolled his eyes at her calling him sir before he spoke. "I have no clue. I guess I will go through all the females in the estate and pick who I will go on dates with. If I didn't narrow them down, I would have at least 20 to meet with in the next few day." He looked exhausted at the thought. They were almost halfway there when a deer shot across the road and in front of them. "Shit." He slammed on the breaks, his hand going to Thalassa and putting it on her thigh. When they were still for a bit, he turned to her panicked.

"Are you okay? You're not hurt right? Did you hit you head?" After throwing the car in park Sterling looked over her carefully before pulling away and leaning back in his seat, his hands over his eyes as they sat there. He rubbed his eyes and eventually let out a soft laugh. "Damn Tal, why didn't you protect us from that deer? Always on high alert until its your life in danger too." He teased and shook his head before pulling it back into gear after a few seconds and starting to drive home. "I need some damn alcohol to survive this day." He shook his head, tired of it. But even then, he had no plans to drink until that night. There was simply too much to do. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

"Right right.." She chuckled, could he really still be hotheaded..? He seems more calm, and stricter but hotheaded now.. no? unless someone provoked him just enough, and she was determined to be that person for some reason. She wanted to see him like that, it was oddly attractive "Oh clearly the spice is still there" She chimed thinking back to all the girls who were in the dining room last night all dressed up for him as they left walking to the car shed listen to his little tangent about how they expect him to be a great leader. Thalassa would huff as they got into the car "Yeah, that does sound tough, especially when it happened so quickly.." She said now raising a brow "I'm sure you will find happiness.. it not with me then someone.." she paused now with a cheeky smile "Although I do not know how you would find someone better than me" The blonde said, flipping her hair now as she looked at him briefly and then away with a cocky smirk on her face before her smile faded and turned serious "But seriously Sterling.. try to take it easy, don't rush yourself if your not ready for something.." She said calmly she wanted to add that he clearly had experience doing that before when it came to rejecting her but it wasn't the time nor place to do so

Once they began to drive off, Tal would make herself comfortable once more, looking out the window and every once in a while looking to Sterling's reflection as he spoke about his plan "20 women? wow so that's like what.. 5 dates a day?" She curiously said now.. as her ears perked and looked ahead, sensing the deer, but before she said anything Sterling slammed on the brakes.. Thalassa would instinctively raise her arm, placing her hand on his chest to make sure his chest didn't hit the wheel. Adrenaline pumping through her veins that she didn't notice where Sterling put his hand at first until she looked around and then down.. her face was slightly red as she would look at him now shaking her head no "No- no I'm fine.. what about you" She said feeling his chest.. her hand trailing down and back up "Fuck--" she grumbled moving her hand now rubbing her neck "Whiplash is all..nothing major.."

As the two sat there for a bit just collecting their thought, Thalassa took a deep inhale in and exhale, looking back to his hand that was still on her thigh.. but now she didn't mind it, it brought her some comfort after something like this "Oh shut up! I sensed it but you reacted before I could say anything.." She snarled looking ahead as they drove "Fucking deers..." The huntress grumbled just letting herself calm down "Well yea.. I value my life too.." she paused and then mumbled "when im alone.." She said looking out the window, her ears slightly lowered now, actually feeling guilty she didn't sense that ahead of time.. usually she was very good at that but she was distracted with Sterling Once they reached the estates Thalassa unbuckled rather quickly and grabbed her bag.. groaning as she got out of the car and forced herself to stretch, lifting her shirt to expose her black bra and toned body, just looking down at herself seeing the whiplash mark of the seatbelt planted on her body, as shed lower her shirt now, and rubbed her neck and then lower back "I hope you have a sauna.. or hot tub, cause I'm definitely going to need one and so are you.." She said more worried about him than herself @NovaRose

He chuckled softly when she mentioned the spice still being there. He shook his head at the though of when he became the alpha and sighed softly. "You don't know the half of it..." When she said if not her than someone, his eyes locked on hers instantly. "Be careful darling. That makes it sound like you are wanting to try again. And I have to rush. My mother is coming back soon and expects me to find a wife. Besides, I think she would be pissed if she saw you here. No offense to you just... history with my father." He shrugged and began the drive. He shook his head at the thought of 20 woman. "I really hope not. It sounds horrible." When the deer ran in front of them, they instantly went to protect each other. The actions didn't go unnoticed by Sterling. He stared at her as she ran her hand up and down his chest, his grip on her thigh tightening slightly. When she pulled away her hand he nodded, thinking about pulling away his hand. But he kept it on her thigh for a bit longer before he set it back on the steering wheel. Sterling parked the car at the estate and grabbed the flowers from the back. A few of the guys started unloading his trunk of flowers, the staff beginning to distribute them. Meanwhile, Sterling's gaze was stuck on Thalassa as she stretched. A slight red fell over his cheeks and he looked away, beginning to walk inside so she wouldn't see any of the blush on his cheeks. "Yeah, we have a hot tub. I'll probably do that after I get everything sorted here. I am more worried about you than myself. I have that you have a mark from it." He gripped his hand slightly. He should have been more careful with her in the car.

He moved to Bonnie, smiling at her. "Will you take these flowers? One for my room and one for Thalassa's." He thanked her before he glanced at Thalassa. After a bit of hesitation, he walked closer to her and moved her hair off her shoulder to look at the mark closer. The alpha brushed his thumb over the mark and hesitated. "I... Get that checked out if it starts hurting." His eyes moved up to hers as he took a step back. He didn't want to leave her. He wanted to be close to her, to close the distance. But that wasn't an option. He took another step back and nodded, his features growing cold again, though there was a bit of fire in his arms. "I am going to get things settled..." He turned and went to help his staff with the flowers, hoping to calm down before he went to the hot tubs. Maybe if he waited long enough Thalassa wouldn't be there and he would have to worry about the intoxication she always seemed to bring with her presence. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

Thalassa would furrow her brows just staying quiet on that subject, as her whole mood shifted just hearing him say that he had to rush that thought just staying in the back of her mind now as they arrived at the estates she would watch him head in she’d follow shortly behind now “Alright good.. I’ll use soon..my body is sore” she said just nodding, she honestly wasn’t expecting him to join her anyways “Tch I’ll be fine.. this is nothing compared to a month ago..” she shuddered thinking about an incident that almost left her dead as she would snap out of her thoughts “It should heal up shortly.. I say maybe 2 days” she shrugged now with a soft smile, still uneasy with what he said early about his mom and father She would wave to Bonnie as she walked off with the flowers.. and watched as Sterling approached her hesitantly, brushing his thumb ever so carefully over her wound, Tal flinched slightly as it was so fresh.. even the slightest touch hurt “I will.. don’t worry about me..” she reiterated “you have way bigger things on your plate” Thalassa said watching him step back from her now, as she would brush her hair now infront of her, nodding as he would leave to help his staff Tal would head to her room and change into a black bikini as she would make her way towards the hot tub that was located at the end of the den.. stepping she was immediately greeted with the warm air, the hum of the bubbles blessing her ears as she would slowly get in “Fuck! Fuck..” she grunted as she would finally submerge herself fully into the water, and slick her hair back before going to the corner of the tub and sitting down resting her hands on the sides, titling her head back, her eyes closed, thinking she was alone as she didn’t bother with staying on edge so she wasn’t paying attention who was coming in or nearby

He tensed when she flinched, figuring it was from him touching her. He simply nodded and pulled away before he left to do help. When he was helping, he was lost in his thoughts about the incident and everything that had happened. After a bit he changed into simple black swim trunks and moved to the hot tub, a towel thrown over his shoulder. He walked into the hot tub areas and looked around. He heard her mumbling and chuckled softly, slipping into the water beside her. "My mother doesn't like you because of my father. He left her, and the pack when I was young. He married my mother, his mate, but left him for someone with more power. She assumed the same would always happen for me." Sterling sunk into the water before running his hands through his hair. He glanced at her with a sigh and shrugged. "I never had the chance to be with you. I had too many people telling me I couldn't." He looked over at her, hesitant. Eventually he just shook his head. "But even with all of that I was an asshole. I never apologized, and so I am sorry. I wish I could take it back but it's not that simple. That's why I gave you a letter too. But I am not sure that will ever happen, just with everything." He took a deep breath and dunked his head in the water before coming back up. He ran his hands through his hair. "I hope you find love. And I don't know if you can be here when my mother returns. She would just tell me I am distracted from finding a wife. Wasting my time with stupid errands like flowers." Sterling shook his head, forcing a smile to get out of his funk. "Forget it all. It's not your issue. In a few days, you will be free from it all." He was glad she could escape, glad she could be happy and not stuck there. He tucked her hair behind her ear before turning away, trying to avoid his own thoughts. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

Her ears perked as she immediately lifted her head and watched him get into the hot tub sitting next to her as he talked about his mom, she’d scoff rolling her head to relieve the stiffness “Right, whatever.. she doesn’t know me” she snarled now a bit upset that his mother had a pre assumption of her Shed continue to listen to him as she would stare ahead “I thought you didn’t want to mention the past..” The huntress said glancing towards him as he dunked his head into the water and slicked his hair back.. watching the water drip down from his hair “But it’s fine.. water under the bridge Sterling.. I learned my lesson and I grew.. clearly, maybe for the best..” she muttered shrugging as she winced in pain “Fuck.. I hope this whiplash will go away soon.. how else am I going to protect this clan when my body is weak” she forced a chuckle as she would then shut up thinking about the letter “Yeah.. I read that..” she said pausing now “what do you mean with everything” she now folded her arms “If I accept your letter wouldn’t you just treat me the same as those other sluts” she growled now.. as if grew “Your mother can shove it up her ass” she finally snapped looking at him “I’m clearly here for a job NOT a distraction” she said getting up.. only to fall back as her body gave out immediately after standing so abruptly, she would emerge from the water and wipe her face and brush her hair out her face “I’m staying until I’m no longer needed Sterling and that’s final” she said her voice cold as ice “And I don’t care what your mom thinks..-“ she then paused “Wait.. the flowers weren’t for whatever the fuck you were planning to do..?” she questioned now staring at him.. her heart racing angered.. and slightly upset he was letting others control his thoughts/feelings @NovaRose

The alpha tensed as she saw how upset he was. His gaze turned cold. "I know she doesn't. I was simply trying to explain why she was the way she is." He shook his head and crossed his arms. He kept to himself. "I didn't plan to. I thought you deserved the truth, but it doesn't seem to matter." He noticed her eyes on him and scoffed slightly. "I'm glad. I'm glad you're happy." He moved towards the edge to get out. When she questioned the letter and if he would treat her the same, he growled, turning back towards her in anger. "Don't you dare disrespect everyone in my clan by speaking about them as such. They are my priority, my responsibility. And no Thalassa. You were different. You always were. But you can't set your feelings aside to understand any other feelings." He glared at her. "You can leave whenever you damn please. You are nothing more than a distraction and I knew you would be the moment I saw you. Your pay will be transferred to you tonight. The flowers were for my estate, but there were ones for you too. Just you. Because I don't care about anyone else. And that's the issue." He got out of the hot tub and grabbed his towel before he moved to the doors. He was tired of it all. Sterling was tired of trying to hide his feelings, tired of pushing them down. He was tired of trying and not being able to stop thinking of her. And so he just wanted to get away from it all. Sterling went to his room quickly, drying off in there and changing into jeans and a white shirt. He glanced at the bottles of alcohol, debating forgetting the whole day.

Instead he left the estate, walking deep into the woods. There was a small river and he just wanted to be away from it all for a while. Before he left, he sent a note to Thalassa saying she could help with the hunts for the rest of the time she was there, and that she can leave when she wanted to. He sat down by a tree, leaning against it. Everyone told him what to think, what to feel. He was tired of it. He finally escaped the criticism of his mother, just to be forced back into it when she was finally back. But even as he laid there, lost in the chaos of it all, he couldn't help but think about her smile. He knew she would be upset, but it was for the better if he didn't see her more than necessary. She was needed more for hunting than protecting him. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

Hearing him growl caused Tal would actually growl back, the deeper than before as she would dare to maintain eye contact with the alpha “Me!? A Distraction! All I did was just enter the den to do *my job!” she shouted following with a scoff. As she would force herself to get up only to be immediately taken back by his next sentence “But.. you..-“ she just cut herself off looking away now, it was clearly a mistake to just come back.. she waited for him to leave Once he left Thalassa would just stand in the tub.. her heart pumping now just overwhelmed and flustered, clearly she didn’t need to be here.. as she would leave the hot tub and left to her room packing her stuff up now and set the duffle bag aside now looking at the letter on her bed as she changed into her huntress uniform chuckling as she tore the letter up and left it on the neatly made bed As she walked down the hall she would gather the male hunters knowing it would be useless to grab the female ones as they were far to distracted with trying to find a way to woo Sterling as she would go on a hunt with them, not daring to talk with any of them as she took the lead.. clearly filled with hate she managed to kill about 3-4 deers for the clan and drag them to the scout “Take this.. I’m leaving” she said as the scout would look at her now

“Yes ma’am.. I’ll let the alp—“

“No need” she cut him off “don’t need him to be distracted besides his little mommy wants me out before she came back so it’s a win win, right” she snarled as the scout looked confused, clearly she was just taking pent up anger out on someone else

6:34 PM

She then disappeared into the night, she could care less about what Sterling needed for the pack. It was better for her to be gone anyways, she didn’t need to be reminded of the past anymore, especially now knowing she was considered a distraction.. As the huntress walked she would hear rustling.. and in a blink of an eye a vampire would have her pinned onto the ground, a yelp escaping her lips as she would manage to get a hand free and grab the vampires throat.. attempting to pry the vampire off. It took some time but she managed to take control and roll over pinning the vampire into the ground only for the vampire to sink their sharp fangs into her wrist “FUCK!” she shouted prying her hands off the vampire as the vampire would push her off now, Thalassa would get up huffing now letting her wrist bleed.. she couldn’t let this fight last long, her body was already weak and the vampire knew.. she needed to give her 100% as she would dash.. her eyes glowing yellow as she slammed the vampire into a tree.. taking out her dagger and stabbing them as they let a horrifying screech out Shed take the dagger out watching the vampire just flop to the ground as Thalassa would pant heavily.. forcing herself to move away before she fell to the ground just breathing holding her wrist now rather tightly

Thankfully the huntress was only bitten, nothing major besides the whiplash.. and pushing herself made her tired.. and weaker but it was better than staying at an estate where she clearly wasn’t welcome When the Alpha returned back he’d notice the 5 deer’s that were stacked nearby with the male hunters around the deers, Vivian would rush towards Sterling to give him a quick hug as she squealed

“I don’t know what you said to get rid of Thalassa but it worked! She’s finally gone” she happily said as she would cup sterlings face, clearly excited that Thalassa wasn’t here as she and the rest of the women considered Thalassa a threat “No more distractions~” she hummed letting his face go now “maybe now you’ll realize you and I were meant to be” Vivian said with a chuckle

If Sterling went to Thalassas room, he’d notice the room was completely tided up, new sheets on the bed also.. the only mess was the torn letter about the hunting however it was evident she did that before she left.. the letter he gave her was gone.. as Thalassa took that with her @NovaRose

The alpha came back late that night, not knowing what to do next. He saw the five deer but moved on. He knew the staff would deal with it as he headed to his room. He hesitated at Thalassa's door before instead going to his room. He slept fitfully the whole night before he got up the next morning. He got ready for the day before he walked out and knocked on Thalassa's door. The door simply pushed open and he looked around the empty room before he growled and went back into his room. He trashed all the photos he had on his wall except for one and put a hole in his closet door. For the next hour or two he sat down and stared at nothing, curling up into bed and wanting to just forget the day. When he heard a knock on the door he growled. "Go away!" Until he heard Bonnie's soft voice. She seemed worried and upset. "Sir... The scouts found Thalassa. She was unconscious." He stood up and rushed to the door. Bonnie tried to grab his arm to stop him, but he rushed past her and to the medical area. He say her laying in the bed, pale and unconscious. before he sat beside her in a chair and took her hand in his. "Thalassa, wake up. Please." He hung his head down, holding onto her hand like a lifeline. He didn't want to lose her after he lost everyone else. He felt guilty. If he had just not sent her away, if he had just been big enough to tell her to stay for the next week, she would have been safe. She left hurt and a vampire attacked her? He heard the nurse explain it all, but he could hardly hear it. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

Thalassa groaned slightly being picked up by the scout everything fading in and out as the scout and a couple other gammas would surround her running back to the den, she heard their voices go in one ear out the other.. something about the alpha.. and her leaving..? Something about her being stupid but brave? She didn’t know as she fully blacked out when they reached nearby the den, her head hanging down as a scout would grunt lifting her head and resting it on their chest as they walked in The wolves in the living area would gather looking at the huntress as the scouts would growl for them to back off, heading towards the medical bay as they would lay her down, one scout checking her pulse and not leaving her side as another would run to grab the medic and the other to alert Bonnie to tell Sterling. As the medic rushed over the scout holding her would let her go, as the medic would run their hands through her body noting the whiplash from the car accident and then the bite on her wrist “She was bitten” the medic said rushing for a nurse to grab a suction as the medic would place it over her wrist and suck out what venom they could “Fuck— fuck.. what was she bitten by a royal?? Fledging?!” the medic said to the scout who found her

“Not sure.. that vampire was .. long dead before I got there, the vampire looked unrecognizable..” the scout said almost in fear as Sterling rushed in, the scout stumbling back as Sterling would sit right next to Thalassa

“Sir she’s fine.. just.. I think her body gave out on her” The scout quietly chimed afraid to say too much

The medic would then walk over with a needle, injecting her with an anti venom vaccine to prevent vampirism to take over her body.. a groan escaping the huntresses lips as she would flutter her eyes. The scout would step next to Sterling and look down to Tal as she would open her eyes slowly, blinking a couple of times

3:42 PM

“Fuck.. where- where am I..” She muttered as everything was blurry at first, she glanced noting the scout and then Sterling holding her hand, she would squeeze his hand as she would prompt herself up.. and let it go as she used her other hand to rub her head “How the hell did I get back here..” she said, pausing now looking to the scout now

“I— well..” they said starting to stutter “I couldn’t let you just die out there.” they said raising their hands in defense as their eyes trailed over to Sterling now

“the vampire is dead.. I don’t know how she did that in her condition but I found her 10-15 minutes later..” The scout said.. now shuffling back afraid they would get yelled at for some reason now

“Tch, should’ve he doesn’t even want me here cause I’m just a distraction and now I’m distracting him more cause he’s here” she said glaring daggers at the scout before looking away and between the medic and Sterling @NovaRose (feel free to play the scout and medic/ nurse too!)

Sterling glared at the scout to get him to shut up after he spoke. He watched as she got injected and would squeeze her hand. He stood up when she opened her eyes, looking alert. He helped her up until she let go of his hand. Sterling growled at Thalassa. "Stop being stupid. You shouldn't have run off. You will stay until the end of our agreement, and then I will drive you to the airport or wherever your next task will be." His words were stern, daring her to say anything opposing. He turned to the medic. "How long until we know if it was a royal or fledgling?" As the man answered, Sterling nodded and turned back to Thalassa. "Stay here. I'm going to get you good." He glanced at the scout, as if to tell him not to let her leave before he turned and went to the kitchen. Bonnie offered to help, but when Sterling slammed his fist into the metal fridge, she gave him his space. Sterling made soup with the deer meat included before he moved back to the medical wing. Setting the food down beside Thalassa, he sat again. "What you did was stupid. You were already hurt. You could have died. You could have died..." He hung his head, rubbing his face with his hands before he looked up at her. "Don't do that again... Please." This time his voice was much softer, pleading with her.

Tal would just rest her head on the pillow as he growled at her, now just staying quiet to not cause a further commotion. Her body was hurting and her head was pounding and she didn’t bother to continue their game of cat and mouse as she would just merely nod, agreeing to stay until the contract was over as she would look away towards the doctor

“Couple of days Alpha, I’m running the venom I was able to obtain out of her bloodstream, it wasn’t a lot as it seemed to quick to start infecting her” The doctor said as they would nod back watching Sterling leave, the doctor would then look to Thalassa “Your lucky to be alive.. given your body and whatnot” They said as Thalassa scoffed

“Well it wasn’t my fault a damn vampire attacked me, sneaky bastard came out of nowhere but their dead now” She snarled now looking at the ceiling “Besides I only left because Sterling couldn’t care less if I left or stayed.. and besides according to him I was being a distraction..” She said still mad as the doctor would shake their head not asking for a life story as they walked off

“How.. how did you manage to stay awake for that long..?” The scout now finally chimed in as Thalassa would snicker

“I built a strong immunity to vampire bites.. 4 years of being alone and traveling you learn to defend yourself and take shit, especially vampire bites” she said as the scouts ears and Thalassas ears perked hearing the loud BANG as their heads turned in the direction

3:28 PM

“Probably the Alpha..” The scout sighed “I heard he did the same to his bedroom wall.. just punching holes in them not sure why he’s so worked up, just makes a mess” The scout sighed as Sterling walked back in with the bowl of soup

Thalassa would smell it as she would sit herself up now and growl softly “Shut up Sterling..” she said quietly as she glanced watching him hang his head and rub his face, noticing the change of tone , she’d sigh and nod “I won’t.. I promise” the huntress said, placing her hand on his cheek and gently stroking it with her thumb before lowering it and grabbing herself the bowl “It smells good..” the blonde now said changing the subject as she would grab the spoon and began to sip on it, sighing after about 2 bites “You know I only left because what you said.. I’m here to do my job, but if im distracting you or you think your mom is going to freak the fuck out that I’m here, then I don’t want to be here” she simply said her voice genuine just staring at the soup

“I’d recommend a 2 days of rest .. your body seems to be healing rapidly” The doctor chimed now walking towards them with another needle as Thalassa would whimper softly, she hated needled ironically as she would hold her left arm out,as the doctor would stick the needle in, Thalassa biting her lower lip now “This will numb the pain in your body from the whiplash and help it heal properly” The doctor continued now looking at the Alpha

“I assume if you’re watching her just keep a close eye out for any signs of vampirism, although I did suck out the venom..you never know since I was only able to obtain that small amount” The doctor said in all seriousness

The alpha stared up at her as she placed her hand on his cheek. Hesitantly he leaned into it and smiled softly. After a bit he shook his head and sighed softly. "I don't care if my mother freaks out. I couldn't care less. It's going to suck a bit, but if it means you're here longer than I don't care." He held her hand as the doctor came with a needle. He nodded at the words of the doctor and hesitated. "I am gonna carry you out now. I want to talk to you in private and you should rest up." Sterling lifted up the hunter and held him close to his chest as they walked out of the medical area. He tucked her hair back and brought her to his chambers. "He said to watch you." Sterling spoke, cutting off her complaints. He set her down in his bed and hesitated. "Let me know if you want to take a bath or anything." He sat beside her and hesitated before taking her hands in his. "You are a distraction. But not in a bad way. You're in a distraction in the sense that every room I am in, I look for you. You're a distraction, because I want to frustrate you and argue with you, if only to hear your cocky remarks. You are a distraction I want..." He looked away, clenching his hands. "That's why I gave you a letter. I know a future with me isn't something you want. But I needed to give you the chance. Because everytime you're with me, I am intoxicated by you. I can't focus on anything else, even though I am supposed to." He sighed softly and held her hand before shaking his head. "But don't worry about my feelings darling. Just get some rest..." @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

The huntress would grunt softly as he lifted her up like she weighed nothing, placing her head close to his chest as she listened to his heart beat as they walked out. Thalassa looked embarrassed as she would watch the other wolves in the area step out of the alphas way.. getting a glimpse of Vivian’s reaction as she would close her eyes I’m embarrassment. She felt weak and useless all over again. As they walked into his chambers the smell of alcohol and cologne hitting her nose as she would open her eyes not bothering to give any remarks, as she knew there was no changing his mind. Besides she didn’t have the energy to fight with him right now as he carefully set her on his bed. Thalassa would stretch and adjust herself to make her more comfortable “I’m.. I’m good Sterling thanks” She awkwardly said watching him sit next to her and hesitant on what to do. It looked like he wanted to grab her hands but at the same time didn’t.. but ultimately made the decision to do so, as he carefully picked her hands up holding it in his “Hmm?” She said now confused looked at Sterling wondering why he was acting like this Shed listen to the Alpha speak.. her heart thumping loudly and her heart racing as she took in his words, softly chuckling at his statement about her cocky remarks “I mean they are clever.. right?” she chuckled awkwardly looking at him just processing what to say “S-Sterling I.. I don’t know.. I’m scared I’m going to get hurt by you again.. emotionally that is..” she started to say..as she took a pause “I-it’s not like I wanted to accept that letter I just.. I didn’t know if you gave it to be because of how I am now, or how I was before” She said looking at their hands now “I just.. I’m scared” she said sincerely “Your words really hunted me Sterling, they hurt so much I.. I mean look at me now..” she said as she would let his hand go

“And maybe I should thank you in some odd way because without that rejection I don’t think I would have grown to be .. this” she smiled softly as she would sit herself up, and rest her head on his shoulder “But it’s not like I’ve also dwelled on what If..” The huntress said.. becoming more open now, maybe it was the medication that was causing it as she also felt more drowsy.. her skin paler as she shivered cold, but didn’t seem to care “Everytime I see some girl around you.. or dressed up for you I just want to sock them.. or kill them.. or I don’t know I just hate seeing that sight, and I hate that I feel that way because.. because I don’t like to feel jealous all the time..” She said her voice trembling now.. just thinking why she continued to share her thoughts, as she lifted her head up off his shoulder and lowered it looking at the ground A silent fell between the two as Thalassa just was shaking slightly cold before hugging herself and warming herself up “Sterling.. be honest if I accept the letter.. would you call off all the other dates..?” she said sincerely as she would lay down, hoping Sterling would lay next to her, just to keep her company as she began to close her eyes waiting for his response [I planned to have Thalassa fall asleep after he responded so if you wanna integrate that into your response you can and then time skip to morning!] @NovaRose

The alpha noticed how embarrassed she seemed and felt guilty. When she teased him about her clever words he nodded, chuckling. "Most of the time." When she mentioned being scared to be hurt by him he simply nodded and glanced away. "I... I gave you the letter because I never had the chance to treat you the correct way before." He pulled his hand away when she let it go and nodded. "I understand. A lot has changed." She mentioned being upset about the other girls around him and he looked away. "I understand... I hated seeing Vincent around you..." He stood and went to his closet to pull out a soft fluffy blanket to wrap around her as she shivered. "I would... But only if you felt like we could move on from the past and be the mates we never got to be..." He hesitated as he knew she was drifting into sleep. He didn't even know if she would remember it the next morning. He slowly kissed her forehead and tucked her in before moving away to let her sleep. The next morning Sterling sat in his office, going over paperwork and figuring out money for everything. He had left food and a note on his bedside table, along with a rose. [Dear Thalassa, I'm not sure how much of last night you remember, but I hope you're feeling better this morning. I figured I'd let you sleep in. I'm in my office if you need anything. Don't forget what I said in my first letter. If you want to try again, just let Bonnie know.] In his closet was a deep maroon dress. Several years ago, the first time they tried to be together, Thalassa admired it in a boutique but Sterling couldn't have been less interested. Now it sat in her closet whenever she wanted to try again. The bedside table had a stack of pancakes and some fresh cut fruit for her. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

Thalassa shortly passed out snuggled up on the blanket he provided as she would be out cold. The following morning she woke up around noon, jolting out of the bed in a panic and looked around trying to get a sense of her surroundings. Her eyes narrowed realized she was still in Sterlings room as she would groan, looking around seeing he was gone

fuck. Did he even stay with me the night?! Did I just kick him out his room for the entire night.. or did he sleep somewhere else

She thought , yawning and rubbing her head as she glanced over seeing the food, rose , and note. The huntress slowly picked up the note and began reading it, trying to think of what happened last night. She vaguely remembered telling him how she felt, however she didn’t know how in detail she went, and she remembered the soft kiss he planted so carefully on her forehead but that was pretty much all. Maybe something about moving from the past..? It seemed like a blur as she re read that last part “Again with Bonnie and this dress..” she said as she’d set the letter aside, curious now about this dress shed nibble on some food that was laying next to her trying to regain her appetite. Getting half way through she heard a knock, and then the door opening to reveal the blonde

“Just checking up on you dearie..” Bonnie said softly closing the door behind

“I’m fine.. thanks..” she sighed getting off the bed and stretching, half her wounds already healed now as she’d grab her plate.. only for Bonnie to quickly take it away from her “here here.. let me take it” she said not even allowing Thalassa the chance to speak on that subject “I—“ she paused shaking her head “Bonnie.. what dress is Sterling talking about..” she finally said looking at her as Bonnie’s eyes widen, and soften with a smile walking over to the alphas closet and opening it

“This darling.. he’s kept it all this years hoping you’d come back and try it again..” she chuckled softly watching Tal walk over

The dress a beautiful maroon with lace and a large slit on the side and a Lacey top, Thalassa stared at it unsure how she felt seeing that dress all over again. The memory flooding back when Thalassa first found that dress and was in awe of it, trying it infront of the Alpha only for him to not really care or be interested, crushing her ego, and her it was in its full glory, untouched “I—but why..” she said looking to Bonnie just unsure how to feel as Bonnie shrugged

“Ask him darling, he’s in his office..” She said as she would pick the food back up and leave, as Thalassa would grab the dress and take it to her “room”.. laying it on the bed as she showered and got ready. She’d stare at the dress one more time .. hesitant at first to wear it. Debating with herself for a bit before ultimately deciding to. She’d slip the dress over herself, as it seemed to fit flawlessly on her, perhaps a little tight on the sides but nothing so bad.. as she stare at herself in the mirror admiring herself

The blonde nodded to herself as she would head down the hall, her heart racing and beating louder and louder as she approached the alphas office unsure what he’d say, or if he’d care again.. or why he wanted her to wear it again. As she stepped infront.. she’d knock on his door gently and open the door slowly, stepping in quickly and closing the door behind looking at him “Why..? Why do you have this..” she said, her voice shaking as she didn’t know how she felt, all she knew was she was flustered, in awe, shock and scared not wanting a repeat of the past @NovaRose

The male clenched his hands in his office, stressed as he stared at the balances for the estate. Their money was quickly draining and it would be that way unless something changed. At one point they had several deals around town and owned many companies, but that wasn't the case anymore. However, it soon would have to be. Sterling printed off information on several businesses. He glanced at the time and saw that it was getting later in the morning. He would check on Thalassa in an hour if she still wasn't up. He began calling around, discussing potential business opportunities within the community. He was on the phone when Thalassa walked in. "Scott, I wouldn't be able to invest that much, but instead of money we could help supply materials and deliver..." His voice trailed off as she entered, his eyes running up and down her body. "We can discuss this at dinner soon. I'll set up times and get back to you." He hung up on the man and walked over to her. He took her hand and pulled her a bit closer, as if to get a better look at her. "I... I don't fully know why I kept it for so long. After you left... After I stopped feeling so controlled by everyone around me and so out of control myself... I bought it. I ridiculed you when you liked it, and I realized how horrible I was once I had the distance..." He shook his head and pulled back, half sitting on his desk as they talked.

"I bought it in case you ever came back. It was a symbol to me more than anything. Of how I let go of someone who should have been everything to me, and the untouchable beauty of you." Sterling kept eye contact with her as he spoke, running his hand through his hair. "I know it is stupid. But I... I don't know." He shrugged and took her hand in his. "Do you want to try again Thalassa? I know the past was horrible, and I understand if you will never forgive me for it. But if you do, I will treat you how you've always deserved. You don't even have to answer now. I can pause my search so that we have time to figure it out. I can tell them I won't continue until you are better for safety reasons. And when it's us, we can be us." He hesitated before looking away. "I can't cancel my search until you are sure about us though. Because I have to do this to marry. And until you are certain..." Sterling looked up at her, feeling guilty. The alpha shook his head. "You don't have to try with me. I understand if you cannot overlook the past." @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

Thalassa would be standing there, flustered listening to him on the phone, she debated on turning back figuring he would give the same reaction as last time, but to her surprise when he finally noticed her he paused and hung up the call after explaining on how he’d get a call back in regards of whatever situation he was talking about She stood there, watching his eyes analyze her body, taking in something he should’ve the first time she tried this dress in years ago. It felt good to have him finally recognize her. A small blush crept to the huntresses face as he checked her out, and walked over pulling her slightly closer to him, listening to his answer. She was speechless just unsure what to say as he admitted to his mistakes in the past, and why he bought the dress, as he’d pull away from Tal, she would lower her hands, placing them behind her back now That was, until he gently grabbed her right hand, she would look down at it her ears perked as he asked her that question as she froze, her heart started racing once more trying to formulate a thought as he went one about the conditions. If she said yes.. the hunt for his next wife stops.. but if she said no and or didn’t know .. he’d continue the hunt.. but a pause to talk it all out sounded tempting to her Once he finished .. he felt her hand grippen a bit harder around his.. the air filled with tension as Thalassa was staring at the ground still speechless, and still trying to formulate a thought, it seemed like decades but after about a moment or two of just that silence she finally let an exhale out and looked at Sterling

I want to take things slow and get to know you all over again but apart of me is just scared what if it happens again..?” she knew that there wasn’t a chance he would relapse but it never hurt to just ask that “I don’t want to be stuck in the past anymore with you.. I rather just forget it all and move on” the blonde huffed looking away now, as she lessened her grip on his hand “I want you to pause the search.. and tell them what’s going on.. I want you to be honest with them because if we are doing this, I want it to be done correctly. I want it to be like the first time we met each other.. awkward? Embarrassing..? Whatever, but pause your search.. that I’m certain about”

The Alpha noticed the blush creep onto her cheeks and smiled brightly. He kissed her hand as she spoke, nodding as he listened to her concerns. "I don't think it will happen again. I was a kid back then, under a lot of pressure. I know better than to let you go now." He pulled her closer to her gently and nodded. "I would love to move past it all with you..." When she mentioned pausing the search and telling them and nodded, hesitantly. He worried about what would happen if Thalassa decided against them, or how the females of the pack would treat her. "I... I would love to. I will pause the search right away. However, I am concerned that if I tell them about you, they won't treat you well. I will do everything in my power to protect you, I just worry." He wrapped his arms around her waist and looked up at her as he was sitting on the desk. "But I would love to be awkward and embarassing with you. Though I hardly believe I will be awkward. I have known what I wanted since the moment you came in. Why be awkward when I can enjoy your blush more?" He winked playfully and pulled away. "I have to announce it to the pack, but would you like dinner as a group, or just the two of us? I would love to finally take you on a date." He finally stood up and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "And you're surely dressed to be treated out on a date. Though I would take you to a five star resturant in sweats." He shrugged and spun her around to get a look at her, a smile on his lips. He wasn't used to smiling so much, but he couldn't help it around her. He finally had her back in his life and he would do anything to keep it that way. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

Thalassa would nod slowly, listening as he pulled her in closer, noticing his hesitation the huntress would furrow her brows now a bit skeptical as she rolled her eyes now “I can handle them myself” she snarled now “They can try to lay their dirty paws on me.. or but they will die trying” She said coldly * “You don’t need to protect me from them.. let them be mad.. upset and let them try.. I encourage them to try so I can put them in their place myself” *She sighed as he wrapped his arms around her waist.. Thalassa would hesitate, before lazily wrapping her arms around his neck looking at him as he continued to speak how he’d love to be goofy with her, chuckling softly “Very well Alpha~” she teased leaning in and whispering that into his lips as she pulled back slightly “I prefer a dinner alone, I’m sure the group wouldn’t want to have a dinner after something like this is announced” The blonde said as she would then nod, a smirk forming on her face, as she would agree “I sure am dressed to be taken out.. a dress like this deserves a night out..” She hummed softly shaking her head slightly “Oh darling I’d glam up even more if you were taking me out to a five star restaurant” As she would twirl, now facing him she would step back to create that distance “I want you to tell the clan now, declare it an emergency meeting if you must, and I want.. no I’m sorry I need you to tell your mom also” Tal said crossing her arms @NovaRose

The alpha hesitated and nodded. "I know you can handle yourself. But that doesn't stop how upset I get when I see them doing shit to you. I can't help but want to protect you. But you also have to understand that if you are to be my wife eventually, this will be your pack too. You have to see the beauty in it, regardless of your past... He was a boy hesitant due to how cold she was but smiled brightly at her as she seemed playfully, whispering into his lips. He wanted to pull her back as she pulled away but knew that there was more to do today and it wasn't the time for things like that. He smiled and nodded. "Absolutely. Let me know now if you want something more five stars though. That might have to be another trip, because there isn't one in town." He ran a hand through his hair, apprehensive about the meeting but he knew it was for the best. When she mentioned his mother he tensed. "It may be best to tell her when she comes back in a few days. Or I can call her tonight and tell her. Whatever you prefer." He pulled her closer and leaned down, pressing a soft kiss against her forehead before he moved towards the door. He opened the door, seeing Bonnie waiting outside. He smiled softly at her. "Call a meeting Bon, we have something to announce." He laced his fingers with Thalassa's, giving her a reassuring smile as he began to walk towards the gathering room. Sterling stood in front of the room, no longer holding hands with Thalassa. He didn't want people questioning him before he could even announce anything. When it seemed filled in, he began.

"As many of you know, Thalassa was just in an accident. While she was injured, she was hardly hurt in comparison to what attacked her. But knowing I had sent her into the woods and the state she came back in only solidified what I know. I will be pausing my search for a wife, because I have found who I hope can be such one day. Thalassa and I were mates, many years ago. And since she left, I've felt a part of me missing. I never treated her like I should. But now, with her back here, I have no intention of letting her go. Thalassa has always been my mate and I intend to make it so officially one day. With this being said, no harm, threats, or anything of such will be directed at her. If you mess with her, you are messing with the alpha's mate and one of the best huntresses in the region. Behave." His voice was a near growl by the end as he took her hand in his and smiled softly. "Ready to go?" It was too early for dinner, but he was ready to be away from all the prying eyes around him. @𝓢𝓪𝓫𝓫𝔂

Thalassa would listen to him talk about how one day this would potentially be her pack as well, her breath hitched just thinking of that minor possibility. If they were to end up together, potentially get married. She’d shake her head softly from those thoughts and looked away slightly afraid of that possibility as he changed the subject to dinner, Thalassa would smirk softly now, nodding “Anything will be fine with me~” she purred now, looking towards him with a sharp gaze “As long as your not treating me as one of your dates you oh so had to rush.. I’ll be fine” As he would pull her closer and place a gentle kiss on her forehead “I rather have be in person.. I’d like to see her expression” The huntress said now, her voice cold despite the soft touch of pink that was on her face after he kissed her forehead As he pulled back and headed towards the door, Tal swiveled on her heel and looked at Bonnie as she nodded, barely glancing at the two now holding hands as she left to go call the meeting As they walked towards the room, her hands behind her back now as she’d be looking down, watching her feet, that was, until they entered the room. Thalassa watched Sterling with an indifference that belied the tumult within her. He stood before the pack, his words cold as he spoke about what happened. The way he spoke about her past and his bond to her she smiled only softly, her eyes looking around at the many female wolves who we’re disappointed, and then lingering towards Vincent who was scowling annoyed

She was not a damsel in need of rescue; she was a huntress, forged in solitude. His insistence on her acceptance into this pack, this family, stirred a cold skepticism within the pack. She had seen the darkness in these woods, had felt the sting of betrayal before.. but she was willing to try again, something inside told her it would be different As Sterling glanced at her, seeking reassurance, she gave him a subtle smile . His smile, meant to be warm, towards her felt misplaced in this situation amongst others, as the wolves would look among each other She nodded, the bare minimum of acknowledgment to the other wolves , and allowed him to take her hand

“Now wait a minute—“ A voice spoke, as Vivian would step up now her arms crossed “All because She was hurt your calling off the entire search!” She said huffing now, a couple of murmurs around the room “How is that fair to the ladies who HAD the chance!” Her eyes pierced at Thalassa

“It was a mistake to even let you come back.. if you never came this wouldn’t have happened” She snarled “I hope it ends up like last time, with him crushing your spirit so you can leave again” Vivian chuckled now

The alpha nodded, hesitant. He hadn't planned to let her be there when he told his mother, he knew how she'd react. But regardless he moved on and went to the meeting. When Vivian spoke up he narrowed his eyes. "It was a mistake to let her come back? It wasn't your damn choice. And on top of that, none of you had a chance. I hardly could stand to be in the same room as others, knowing I wanted one girl. And so I suggest you stop, I suggest you realize your place here and know that she is welcome in our pack. If you continue to treat her otherwise, you won't be." His tone was harsh and he stepped back, putting his arm around her waist and turning away. He turned away from the pack, heading towards the doors. "Can we leave now? I just want to have a nice dinner with my mate." He seemed frustrated with everything else that had happened. He turned to Thalassa when Vincent walked over. He tensed and Vincent crossed his arms. "Darling, I thought you came back for me? What's going on here, hmm? Thought maybe the alpha would be a better fuck?" He scoffed and grabbed her wrist, pulling her close and smirking. "Him tonight, me tomorrow?" Sterling growled and went to slam the male against the wall, tense. "Don't you fucking dare." His arm had the males throat against the wall, cutting off circulation.

Vivians breath hitched, hearing the alphas response as she would immediately back down biting her tongue and growling annoyed. She knew she over stepped this time, however she was annoyed at this situation merely scoffing before she left “Your mom won’t approve of this..” As Thalassa heard, she left a dry chuckle out eyeing the disappointed crowd as he wrapped his hand around her fragile waist and turning away “Oh?” she said so only he heard her, looking at him now, and then towards the others smirking as she’d gently cupped Sterlings chin in attempt to calm him down, but more importantly get a reaction from the ladies as she found it amusing to watch how jealous they got easily As the crowd slowly seemed to disperse, Thalassa would lower her hand off Sterlings chin, turning slightly hearing footsteps approach the two now as she would look up at Vincent She paused just listening to him, before bursting out into laughter as he pulled Thalassa closer to him, she would continue to laugh.. letting it slowly die down as Sterling would slam Vincent into the wall “Oh my.” She said, snickering walking over now gently placing her hand on Sterlings shoulder before applying pressure and prying him off Vincent , as Vince took a deep breath in “Now now, if I really wanted a fuck toy, I would have done that since day one” she said placing one hand on her face, taping her cheek now, her head titled looking at Vincent

“But obviously, I’m not interested in that.. besides you view me as a fuck toy.. a play thing whatever you wanna call it” She said now, as she would grab Sterlings hand, lacing her fingers around his as they held hands now “You could never have me even if your dreams… now attempt to do something like that again..” she paused her eyes turning gold as they glowed subtly her voice becoming icy “And you won’t live to see tomorrow..” she said, as she smiled now, and looked towards Sterling “Come now, you still owe me for those dates years ago too..” She said, and with that would leave Vincent behind as he’d snarl staring at the two

The alpha leaned into her hands and smiled softly at her, trying his hardest to calm down. However, when she pulled him off Vincent, he crossed his arms tense. He was glaring at Vince as Thalassa spoke to him. Vincent glared at the girl before scoffing. "That's fine. I am sure you'd be tainted anyways, being nothing but a mutt. Little Trash Thalassa, once an omega, always." Sterling growled, but as Thalassa took his hand he softened slightly and hesitently nodded. "Absolutely darling..." He led the to the car and opened her door for her before getting in on the other side and looking at her for a second with a sigh. "Thank you..."
