it was a normal night out in the town. It wasn’t easy always hiding who she was, she had to use her job as a shield. An excuse. It took its toll. She wished she could just exist without a demon hunt starting but she knew she was too defenseless to risk it @Soul

a figure peered out from the nearby forest and looked at the lit up town in front of him. He walks into town and looks around a little while keeping to himself. His dark clothes, hair, and mask around his mouth stand out in the bustling city with lots of people around enjoying their time at night. He finds a building and decides to try to get something to eat. *he walks into the building and takes a seat at a booth. He didn’t realize that there were exotic dancers in here, but he just wanted to get some food then leave. He couldn’t help, but blush a bit under his mask when he saw them, so he looked away until someone came to take his order @violet cranberry

she sensed something non human but couldn’t for the life of her tell where it was coming from. But she did indeed look around

So what can I get ya? the bar tender approached him. Tho unbenounces to him midnight was about to go on break for a glass of water @Soul

he looks over at the bar tender. His mask and hood hiding his face. “Got any food in this place?..” @violet cranberry

Of course, we don’t want people to get alcohol poisoning… we have fried potato, bread, mostly carbs they shrugged

Most people don’t come here for the food she chimed in before sitting down and tugging her coat around her to show she was not being a waitress either at the moment and was on break as she downed a glass of water

he glanced at her a little and then glanced back at the waiter “Bread and water is fine.. thanks..” he says quietly, now turning his attention to the random woman sitting across from him @violet cranberry

Sorry I couldn’t help but to butt in- she chuckled and paused eating a small snack herself she just grabbed from behind the bar. None of the workers seemed concerned as they were the ones that put it there for her. what’s your name luv? I don’t think I’ve seen you here before @Soul

“Dusk… and you?..” he says quietly, not trying to draw too much attention to himself for certain reasons @violet cranberry

“I guess.. so did you need something?.. I mean.. kind of unusual for someone to sit with someone else who they never met before, right?..” @violet cranberry

“You just happen to be next to the spot I always take my break snack at, I have another 30 min dance time before I’m off for the night and I needed water” she just kept smiling “and it’s not unusual at all in this kind of tavern dear~” she winked before setting her coat back on the chair before confidently sauntering back off to the stage. Maybe he could tell someone was different about her as they were both from a different world @Soul

he blushed a little under his mask and something about her seemed… different. Something that makes him feel like she isn’t a normal human, but he’ll worry about that later and decides to just wait for his meal to arrive @violet cranberry

after a few minutes, the waiter returns with his food and Dusk pays the waiter before eating the food. This helped fill his stomach after not eating for some time. He wondered if he’ll ever see that woman who sat near him again. It seemed that maybe he’s not the only demon in this town

well he definitely wasn’t the only demon. Around when he finished his meal she was done with her shift, going to the back to change and coming back out for her coat, next to him again @Soul

he notices that the coat is still there. When he sees her coming back for it, he stands up and gives it to her “forget something?..” @violet cranberry

Maybe a bit- she laughed a bit embarrassed and took it, slipping it over her shoulders it’s easier to keep it on the floor sometimes and I forget to bring it back she had a dress over what she was wearing before if it weren’t for her looks she would blend right in with the crowd sorry to bother you again…. @Soul

“Don’t worry about it… you were fine compared to most other people I have met.. You have time to talk?..” he looked around a little to make sure no one was looking at them suspiciously @violet cranberry

he sighs a little “Yeah.. that was stupid I’ll admit…” he leans in a little and whispers “it’s about.. demons…” @violet cranberry

her eyes widened and she recoiled before grabbing his wrist and dragging him out the side door into the alleyway I am not letting you ruin what I built the door shut behind them and they were alone outside on the dimly lit cobblestone path. @Soul

“calm down, would you?..” he says quietly, making sure no one else heard them “All I’m asking is if you are or not.. hell, you can just lie to me, idc..” @violet cranberry

I’m not risking that conversation inside you idiot- she was whisper screaming what do you know- how did you find me- gosh I’m going to have to start all over in a new town again… I don’t want to start over again anger started to dwell within her, it’s obvious from her reaction she minimum knew a demon but more likely that she was one @Soul

“Take a deep breath and listen to me carefully..” he says quietly, trying to keep her calm to not draw attention to themselves “First of all, after this conversation, I’ll leave you alone and move on. Second, I’m a demon, so don’t concern yourself about me telling anyone.” @violet cranberry

We’re alone out here I’m not stupid you can stop looking over your shoulder now… what are you doing here?? They hate us, like a lot. Honestly I get nervous just being here sometimes but it’s the safest I’ve been in awhile she pursed her lips thinking @Soul

he sighs a little “look, I got my meal and the information I wanted to know. Now I’ll leave you alone if that’s what you want. I don’t plan on staying for a while anyways. If you need to get out of here for some reason, you can come with me.” he offers his hand, in case she accepted his offer, but he knows that she probably won’t @violet cranberry

I’m not- she sighed that’s not what I mean. I’m not leaving here I have a life here I’m just- why are you here? Who are you? You might have the information you need but now I have so many questions- she took a breath first though I will say I will not stand for you hurting the civilians here.

he put his hand down and sighs a little “Well I guess that makes sense… fine. My name is Dusk. I wander from place to place since I don’t have a home. And I didn’t hurt any civilians here. If I do, it’s either to protect myself or because that person was harassing someone else. Anything else?.” he says quietly, his hair covering the scar on his left eye @violet cranberry

Not really I’m just, surprised I guess? I’ve never ran into someone like me- ever actually especially not here they still believe in witch hunts… Midnight she would have shook his hand but it had felt like a deal rather than a hello @Soul

“Well, it makes sense.. considering the damn humans and their damn myths.” he looks at her in the eyes “I’ll leave you alone now, if you like..” he turns to start to walk away @violet cranberry

wait- she sighed you said you had no where to stay? Right? she pursed her lips I have a couch…. @Soul

he stopped and looked at her, a little confused “You sure you can trust me? I know how to camp out in the forest if that’s what you’re worried about-“ @violet cranberry

he sighs a little “well.. I guess if you’re offering..” he says softly, kind of agreeing to her offer “lead the way then..” @violet cranberry

she smiled and nodded, leading the man out of the alley way and a couple blocks away from the bar before she made sure no one followed them she slipped into another alley, pulling him with her before going a door that seems tucked away and hidden. Getting mail was very frustrating for her. not the best place in the city but she opened the door to- more stairs! She lived on the 6th floor. But rent was cheap and the alley made it easier to have people loose track of where she went because she didn’t want anyone from the audience trying to get another free show @Soul

he thought of her home as a clever way to hide out from would-be creeps or people trying to kill demons. He followed her up the stairs into her home and slowly looked around, not trying to snoop around or invade anything she wants to keep private @violet cranberry

Sorry it’s a bit small she picked up a cup she had left on the counter but I have pillows and blankets! And I use my tips to store up on extra snacks so if you’re hungry don’t be scared to ask! she smiled at him softly, it was cozy and not a wreck but she wasn’t expecting guests so she needed to vacuum. There was a lot of art of the sky and stars on her walls especially the moon make yourself at home I guess! @Soul

Now that they were alone and that he could somewhat trust her, he took off his mask and lowered his hood, putting his mask on the arm of the couch. He has medium long messy black hair with part of it covering the black eyepatch on his left eye that has a small scar over it and black eyes. “Thanks for having me, I guess…” he says softly, sitting down on the couch and looking around the room. He just ate at the building from earlier so he wasn’t hungry for now. He glances over at the paintings “Did you make these paintings?…” @violet cranberry

No I wish, I’ve tried but she frowned I could never get any of the details right but I couldn’t help but collect it all. I know it’s stupid but I always felt close to the moon and stars? I just love them. Sometimes I climb the fire escape and just lay on the roof staring up at the stars, just taking it all it. It’s breathtaking you know? she smiled at the memory

her remarks remind him of when he would have to camp out in the woods back then. He knew the same feeling all too well of just looking at the stars and the moon. It was more peaceful back then, but not anymore… “uh.. yeah.. I know the feeling…” he says quietly @violet cranberry

Hey anything to feel normal she teased, a coping skill she procured it’s one thing to be a demon stranded here but another to not be allowed back in hell she shrugged so you’re welcomed as long as you’d like if you don’t cause trouble, I can get you a pillow and blanket!

“I’d appreciate that..” he turned his head to glance at her “I’ll try not to cause too much trouble for you. Think of me of.. I guess somewhat of a bodyguard as a thanks for providing me shelter.” he offers, thinking that it was the least he could do for her kindness. He has fighting experience and has protected people from others before while keeping his facial and body appearance hidden. @violet cranberry

As long as you try that’s all I care about! she smiled and quickly skittered off to grab a pillow and blanket before returning two minutes later and you don’t have to do that… I don’t think anyone is after me, at least I sure hope not… concern flashed over her face @Soul

he sits up and puts his hand on her head gently, petting it softly. “If anyone does, I’ll make sure they get what’s coming to them.” he takes his hand off and takes the blanket and pillow from her. Standing up, he sets up the couch and lays down. @violet cranberry

Dusk looks up at her, noticing her concerned expression on her face. He sat up a little and gently placed his hand on her head, petting it gently and running his fingers through her hair softly and lightly. Comforting people was one of the things he never really learned to do growing up, so he was just doing what he could while trying not to make her uncomfortable. @violet cranberry

she blushed at the touch and froze for a moment I- uh- she cleared her throat and took a step back sorry? it wasn’t that she didn’t like being touched it’s that she barely knew him and he was already in her home @Soul

Dusk moved his hand away and moved it down to his side when he saw that she seemed to have felt a little uncomfortable. “Sorry about that. I just didn’t know how else to comfort you. You seemed to be concerned and the only thing I could think of was to pet your head a little.” @violet cranberry

It’s fine I just only let my friends touch me- succubus and all- touch feels weird sometimes? And even though I feed off affection it’s weird to receive it from strangers sometimes… she smiled, clearly not upset at him @Soul nds

“Yeah, I understand.” Dusk grabbed the blanket and pillow, setting up the couch for him to sleep. Once he set it up, he laid down in the couch under the blanket, turning his body away and laid on his side. “You should get some rest.” @violet cranberry

she nodded just- uh- yell if you need me I guess she ducked her head into her room. It took awhile for her to feel comfortable enough to go to sleep but eventually

the succubus did so, cuddling the pillow as she lay on it. In the morning she would wake up much earlier than intended and just lay there face up debating getting out of bed, curious if her guest was still there? @Soul

Dusk woke up early and sat up, stretching a little. Honestly, that was probably the best sleep he had in a few years. He slowly gets up and makes the couch neatly before putting his mask on and his hood over his head. He decides to maybe make something for himself and Midnight before she would wake up. He was planning to leave before she noticed to not trouble her anymore. He goes to the stove and takes out some eggs from the fridge. After 10-15 minutes, he just made some scrambled eggs. He puts out a plate for Midnight on the counter for when she gets up, then sits down at the table with his own plate and lowers his mask to eat. @violet cranberry
