She wrapped an arm around her waist, though it would take a while longer for her thoughts to quiet enough to fall asleep. Did she have a lover now? Was she really happy to open her heart to someone again? What were they? If this was a relationship, her plans would have to adjust - she'd have to survive the battle against Aubron, for Skylar's sake. She had to care now, because she couldn't make someone live with the same loss she had endured. And as she looked at her, sleeping peacefully in her arms, she knew the answer, or at least part of it. Dying for someone was easy. Living for them... That was the hard part, and she knew she was willing to do it. She closed her eyes, and let sleep claim her.
Her dreams were, as usual, tormented with visions of potential doom, or of the most nightmarish aspects of her patron's past hosts' lives. She lay still throughout it all, breathing and heartbeat calm. Repetition could desensitize her to any horrors, she found. She woke up early, before the first rays of sun. Careful to not disturb Skylar, she slowly disentangled their limbs, standing up to leave the tent. She needed some fresh air, and had an idea. There wasn't much out here to make a suitable gift, but she could always manage. She threw on her cloak and walked out of her tent, into the forest. It took a few minutes to find all the flowers she wanted. Sorel, symbolizing affection, white clover imploring the recipient to think of her, daisies for hope, oak leaves for strength - the first thing she had admired about Skylar - and peony, which could resemble either bashfulness or happiness. Maybe the symbolism would be lost, but she didn't mind. She took a moment to sit in the forest, weaving her findings together.
